Spotlight on New FleX-Net™ Projects

The introduction of the FleX-Net™ system has been one of the most important product launches in the history of the Mircom Group of Companies. The large network system functionality, advanced feature set, flexible system architecture and cost competitiveness of FleX-Net™ is quickly establishing a new level of market leadership for Mircom, far beyond our ‘core’ residential market. The following FleX-Net™ projects are multi-node fire alarm and audio systems that have been completely installed and commissioned over the last few months.

Belgaum Airport, Karnataka

Secutron commissioned the first ever Airport Project in India. Belgaum Airport is a small Airport in the southern city of Belgaum in Karnataka. The earlier airport was built for cargo purposes and has now been converted into a domestic passenger Airport. The Secutron Fire System installed is in the first phase of development. The Airport is expected to expand in 2011 and increase in capacity by twice its size.

Initially Secutron was not on the approved list of The Airport Authority of India. However after much deliberation & extensive quality audits and site visits we were awarded the project. This installation will work as an excellent reference for our business in the Indian Aviation segment. The India office hopes to secure many more projects in this sector in the upcoming months.

The development of our new Applications Engineering Department is on schedule with the deployment of both the facilities and senior technical staff required. Headed up by Paul Jewett and Angelo Porretta, the AE Dept. now occupies offices and a system ‘Rack Test’ area that is strategically located next to our main manufacturing floor and our UL product test lab.

Adding ‘horsepower’ to our Applications Engineering capabilities is significantly important to the growth of the company. Firstly, this group works with our sales force to insure that large projects are quoted as competitively as possible, using the best design practices to win more business. Secondly, the AE Dept. will ‘rack test’ large systems to provide 100% factory testing, which will lead the market in quality control. Lastly but no less importantly, this group is able to provide turn-key factory configuration and programming of systems whenever those resources are not available in the field, giving Mircom a larger available market.

You’ll be hearing about more AE Dept. developments over the coming months!

Mircom was recently audited by the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board. After several months of preparation, a Work Well audit was conducted by the board during December 2010. The purpose of the audit was to measure Mircom’s Health and Safety program against a strict set of criteria established by the Province of Ontario.

It is with great pleasure that we report Mircom successfully passed the audit- something that we are advised is very difficult to achieve on a first audit.
