One Sabbath day as Jesus and His disciples were

walking through the fields they were very hungry.

The disciples started to pick the grain and eat it as

they walked.

The Pharisees saw this and were shocked at whatthey were doing, Teacher, dont you know this

isnt allowed on the Sabbath?

Jesus answered them, Dont you remember thatDavid ate the consecrated bread and gave it to his

men on the Sabbath.

Then He shook His head and said to them,

Sabbath is made for man, not man for theSabbath.

Another time Jesus went into the synagogue on the

Sabbath and a man was there with a shriveledhand. Can you imagine not being able to use your

hand?

Now, the Pharisees saw Jesus come in and were

looking to see if Jesus would heal the man, hopingto catch Jesus doing something wrong.

Jesus knew what they were thinking and asked

them, What is right to do on the Sabbath to do

good or to do evil?

But, they said nothing. Jesus shook His head in

anger at their stubborn hearts.

He turned to the man and said, Stretch out your

hand.

As the man did it was healed.

After the Pharisees saw this they were horrified,

and were hopping mad.

They went out and began to plot with the

Herodians to kill Jesus.

The Herodians were a group that loved andsupported the Roman government. The Pharisees

normally didnt get along with them, but they

wanted Jesus gone.
