To add a RealPresence Group Series codec to the room in Mira Portal (hps://mira. aveosystems.com), navigate to the equipment list in the room, and select Add. Select the Polycom RealPresence Group Series, enter its IP address, enter a user name and password (if required), set the Connecon Type to either ‘Ethernet’ or ‘RS-232 over Ethernet’, and press ‘add equipment’. Mira Connect will connect to the Group Series system and show the status of the connecon. Polycom® RealPresence® Group SeriesVideo Conference (with Advanced Camera Control)

The Polycom RealPresence Group Series family of video conferencing devices can be controlled with Mira Connect™, Aveo Systems’ smart control appliance.

Mira Connect can communicate and control the Group Series either securely over an Ethernet network or over the codec’s RS-232 interface. To control a Group Series with Mira Connect using Ethernet, ensure the web UI is enabled on the Group Series. It is not necessary to enable telnet on the codec. Controlling the Group Series over RS-232 requires the Global Cache IP2SL IP to RS-232 interface device and configuring it according to the instructions in the Control Interface section below.

To add a RealPresence Group Series codec to the room in Mira Portal (https://mira.aveosystems.com), navigate to the equipment list in the room, and select Add. Select the Polycom RealPresence Group Series, enter its IP address, enter a user name and password (if required), set the Connection Type to either ‘Ethernet’ or ‘RS-232 over Ethernet’, and press ‘add equipment’.

Mira Connect will connect to the Group Series system and show the status of the connection. Mira Portal shows the equipment status as a green circle if the IP address is valid, and the password is correct, otherwise the warning symbol, ! , will appear with a status message.

To specify which video inputs are used on the codec, select Edit from the device’s menu, select the ‘Video Inputs’ tab and enable an input, select an icon, and enter text labels for the desired inputs. This will create a display menu as shown on page 2. Camera presets may be added using the ‘Camera Presets’ tab.

See the Mira Connect Administrators Guide for more information about using Mira Portal to configure Mira Connect.

Important information about the integration is summarized below.

Control Interface

Network connection using port 443 is the recommended connection type to the codec. We recommend setting a static IP address for the Polycom RealPresence Group Series.

If the codec is on a dedicated video conferencing network and not accessible for network control, its RS-232 interface can be used for control. Connect the IP2SL to a PoE network connection and use Global Cache’s iHelp program to discover the IP2SL’s IP address, then browse into the device to set the desired static IP address and set the baud rate to 9600bps (the default). The Global Cache IP2SL (Aveo Systems part number 151.0010.001) is available as an accessory.

Ensure the baud rate on the Global Cache IP2SL matches the baud rate configured on the Group Series. To enable RS-232 control in the Group Series, use the web interface of the Group Series and navigate to Admin Settings > General Settings > Serial Ports and set the RS-232 mode to Control and set the baud rate to match the baud rate configured on the IP2SL device. Set the RS-232 Login Mode: to none or Admin password only.

Connect. If there is a DSP audio conference device in the room, microphone mute is controlled by the DSP device.

Room Volume ControlThe master volume of the codec is controlled. If there is a DSP audio conference device, room volume is controlled by the DSP device.

SIP Audio DialingMira Connect supports dialing SIP audio calls when the Group Series has a SIP registration. To add a SIP registration to a RealPresence Group Series, log into the web interface of the codec and navigate to the Admin Settings > Network > IP Network > SIP page. Enter the SIP credentials for your system and press Save when done. The Group Series will attempt to register to the specified server. Once successfully registered and enabled on Mira Connect using the Options tab as shown in the following figure, Mira Connect will show the phone icon, , and support dialing of Group Series SIP audio calls manually from the dial keypad and automatically from calendar invitations and contact directories.

Enable SIP Audio Dialing * SIP audio dialing must also be configured on the equipment.

Camera ControlMira Connect supports multiple Eagle-Eye PTZ style-cameras. Cameras are discovered automatically by Mira Connect using the camera names defined in the Group Series web UI when connecting directly over an Ethernet network. When controlled over RS-232, camera names can not be automatically discovered and will be named Camera 1, Camera 2, ...

Camera presets should be created using the RealPresence Group Series infrared remote and recalled using Mira Connect as described in this document.

If you are re-purposing a Group Series ‘content’ input as a camera input, make sure the content source isn’t active before trying to change the source’s input type to a camera input via the Group Series web UI. It is not possible to change the input type of active sources.

Supported ModelsMira Connect supports at least the following models of Group Series products: RealPresence Group Series 300, 310, 500, 550, and 700

Software VersionsTested with Group Series device firmware 6.0.1, 6.1.0, 6.2.0.

Configuration ExamplesContent Sharing

To use content sharing via Group Series, enable an input on the codec and enter a label and optional description. Mira Connect will present the content sharing as part of the display menu. Selecting the content source will automatically start content sharing.

Adding Camera Presets

To add camera preset recall buttons to Mira Connect’s camera control page, first create the camera presets within the RealPresence Group Series using the IR remote, then navigate to the Mira Portal Camera Presets tab, and select Add Preset. As shown in the following figure, select a camera preset icon, add a label and optional description, and then select which camera preset number to assign to that button. Camera preset numbers range from 0 to 99. Click Update Equipment when done.

The camera preset recall and camera selection options appear on the camera page on Mira Connect as shown in the following figure. If your Polycom RealPresence Group Series has multiple cameras, a camera may be selected by touching the selected cameras area. Camera presets are camera specific, recalling a preset will leave that camera as the selected camera.
