MINUTES OF THE U3A DÉNIA ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING HELD AT THE CASA DE CULTURA DENIA, THURSDAY 22TH FEBRUARY 2018

The first call of the Annual General Meeting took place at 11.00 a.m. and the Secretary, Mike Blower, announced that as there were insufficient numbers present to form a quorum we would have to wait half an hour for the second call to take place. He then informed the members that during the four years that he had been Secretary the membership had grown from around 430 paid up members to 837 today. The Secretary, Mike Blower, announced the second call at 11.30 and the Annual General Meeting was officially open. Firstly the minutes of the 2017 AGM, which had been published on the website since February 2017 were thrown open and members asked if there were any matters arising. There being none a Proposer and Seconder was called for to accept the minutes, Mick Nial Nº 712 proposed acceptance and Frederick Betteridge Nº 471 seconded their acceptance. The meeting was then handed over to Roger Fell, the Treasurer, to present the Financial Report for 2017 the details of which had all been on the website for two months. Roger asked if there were any queries on the accounts. There being none a Proposer and Seconder was called for to accept the accounts, Lee Brown Nº 547 Proposed acceptance and Chris Whitehead Nº 471 seconded their acceptance. The Secretary, Mike Blower, announced that there had only been one nomination for President, Ken Yendell and one nomination for Ex Officio, Phil Johnson, a simple show of hands would be sufficient to put them in office. This was done and there were no dissenters. The remainder of the existing committee, Christine Whitehead, Roger Fell, Mike Blower and Margaret Jenrick were also confirmed in office by a show of hands. Len Roper, Audrey Roper and Pam Rawlings, all Ex Officios, have left the committee. The outgoing President, Gordon Cliford, then gave a short address before handing over to our new president, Ken Yendall, who gave a, hopefully comic address on the way he saw the U3A continuing.

Ken then asked if there was any other business and there being none the President officially closed the 2018 Annual General Meeting at 11.38 p.m.
