MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION MAY 15, 2012 A regular meeting of the Board of Education, District 155, McHenry and Lake Counties, Illinois, was held at the Center for Education, in said District, Tuesday, May 15, 2012. President, Ted Wagner, called the meeting to order at 7:30 P.M. The President directed the Secretary to call the roll. Upon the roll being called, the following members answered present: Jim Nelson, Dave Secrest, Barbara Slusin, Ann Somers, Ted Wagner, and Karen Whitman. Dr. Gary Oberg was absent. MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF THE

BOARD OF EDUCATION

MAY 15, 2012

A regular meeting of the Board of Education, District 155, McHenry and Lake

Counties, Illinois, was held at the Center for Education, in said District, Tuesday,

May 15, 2012.

President, Ted Wagner, called the meeting to order at 7:30 P.M. The President

directed the Secretary to call the roll. Upon the roll being called, the following members

answered present: Jim Nelson, Dave Secrest, Barbara Slusin, Ann Somers,

Ted Wagner, and Karen Whitman. Dr. Gary Oberg was absent.

Also present were: Dr. Randy Davis, Director of Human Resources; Mark

Kovack, Director of Student Services; Dr. Steve Koch, Director of Staff Development;

George DiVenere, Director of Technology; Jeff Carr, Operations Manager; Scott Kubelka,

Director of Curriculum and Assessment; Matt Timmerman, Coordinator of Instructional

Technology; Jeff Puma, Director of Communications; Joe Murphy, Director of Business

and Finance; Steve Olson, Marsha Potthoff and Jay Sargeant, Principals CHSD 155; Dr.

Johnnie Thomas, District 214 Administrator.

Karen Whitman moved and Jim Nelson seconded the motion that the mInutes of

the regular meeting held April 17, 2012 be approved as presented. Motion carried on

unanimous vote.

Whitman moved and Barbara Slusin seconded the motion that the Bills as listed on the

Agenda be approved and ordered paid. Upon the roll being called, the following

members voted.

Joe Murphy, Director of Business and Finance, asked the Board to consider the

appointment of the Budget Committee for the 2012-2013 school year. Secretary of the Board

of Education read the following Resolution designating the Budget Committee to prepare

a tentative budget and establish the fiscal year for the School District.

RESOLUTION – BUDGET COMMITTEE

WHEREAS, the Board of Education is required by law to select a committee to prepare a tentative budget, and WHEREAS, this Board of Education is further required to prepare said tentative budget, make the tentative budget available for public inspection, and arrange for a public hearing thereon. Ted Wagner, Board President, asked Mr. Murphy if the implementation of the

New Program, Infinite Visions, is on target. Mr. Murphy stated we are on target

and will be ready July 1, 2012.

Marsha Potthoff, Principal of Crystal Lake South High School, presented a

school improvement update. ISBE requires schools/districts to submit a school

improvement plan every two years, if they do not meet the established AYP

benchmarks associated with NCLB.

Mrs. Potthoff received BOE approval and successfully submitted a school

improvement plan to ISBE last year. Her presentation at this Board Meeting was

an update and did not require formal Board action.

Mrs. Potthoff provided materials for the Board members showing

achievement data, objectives and strategies that are closely aligned to the District’s

Strategic Plan.

Dr. Randy Davis, Director of Human Resources, presented for a first reading

Board Policies: 4344 – School Wellness Policy; 4345 – Health and Safety; 4365-

Dispensation of Medication. Board Policy states that such changes need to be

presented at one Board Meeting before they can be acted upon at the following

meeting.

by Barbara Slusin that the meeting adjourn at 10:10 p.m. Motion carried on

unanimous vote.

June 19, 2012, at 7:30 p.m., in the Center for Education, One South Virginia Road,

Crystal Lake, IL.
