Introduction:
What is an organization? Who is Mintz Berg? What are the six components of Mintz Berg’s
Organizational Model? What is the role of each component? How does each individual component affect the
organization? How all the components can be better
managed? Problems faced and their solutions?
Strategic Apex:
According to Henry Mintz-berg, strategic apex means: “Charged with ensuring that the organization serves its mission in an effective way, and also that it serves the needs of those people who control or otherwise have power over the organization.”
According to Wiki Answers: “Strategic apex, the home of top management where all power rests, usually with one person which could be the owner of an entrepreneurial entity.”
Strategic Apex:
Another name of “top level management” Setting strategies Overall responsibility for running of
organization Nadir of 5 parts of organizational construction May comprise of a single individual, plathora of
individuals, committee or board

Major duties direct supervision
management of organization’s boundary conditions
development of the organization’s strategy
Confirmation of vision and mission of the organization

According to Mintzberg : “Forms a chain joining the strategic apex to the operating core by the use of delegated formal authority.”
Middle Line:
Combination of middle and operations management
Comes under the top management
Segregation of duties as per the abilities, skills ,knowledge and experience of individuals
Middle Line:
Responsible for carrying out of goals set by top management
Offering of suggestions and feed back to strategic apex
Operating Core:
According to Henry Mintzberg : “Those who perform the basic work related directly to the production of products and services.”
Operating Core:
Deals with basic business operations Constitutes of more than one employee(s) Not the part of management but provide aid to
it Deals with factory’s inputs, processes and
outputs Responsible for work done under factory
premises Deals with supervision of the juniors(man
power)
Functions Of Operating Core:
Input of raw materials Transformation of inputs into outputs Distribution of output Helps to smoothen the processes of inputs,

Techno Structure:
According to dictionary.com: “The group or class of technically skilled administrators, scientists, and engineers who manage and influence business, the economy, and government affairs.”
The free dictionary by farlex: “A network of skilled professionals who control a corporate system. (Sociology) the people who control the technology of a society, such as professional administrators, experts in business management, etc.
Techno Structure:
According to Oxford Dictionary: “A group of technologists or technical experts having considerable control over the workings of industry or government.”
According to Merrium Webster: “the network of professionally skilled managers (as scientists, engineers, and administrators) that tend to control the economy both within and beyond individual corporate groups.”
Techno Structure:
According to Mintz Berg : “The analysts who serve the organization by affecting the work of others. They may design it, plan it, change it, or train the people who do it, but they do not do it themselves.”
According to Wikipedia: “Techno structure is a term coined by the economist ”John Kenneth Galbraith” in "The New Industrial State" (1967) to describe the group of technicians within an enterprise (or an administrative body) with considerable influence and control on its economy.

Analysts (technocrats) No working for the management but with
operations Designing, maintenance and modification of
systems, processes etc. Repairing of systems Concerned with adaptation and changing of
organizational structure Concerned with how to affect stabilization
and standardization among the organizations
Support Staff:
According to Mintzberg: “Composed of specialized units that exist to provide support to the organization outside the operating work flow.”
Support Staff:
Main task to support smooth running of organizational units
Is mostly outsourced Functioning is the same as of the techno
structure Supports the organization’s working Concerned with the repair and maintenance,
alteration, modification and customization of systems and processes

Conclusion:
Mintzberg states six components that contribute in the organizational structure
Strategic apex plays the key role Middle management works on the tasks
assigned to it Operational core deals with operations like
input, processing and output Techno structure includes the analysts and
technocrats who deal with the organizational systems
Conclusion:
Support staff provides aid to all levels of management (top, middle, operational)
Ideology means differences in perceptions and feedbacks due to different norms, traditions, religions, languages, cultures, races etc.
