MINOR LEAGUE CLIPS Twins trade Red Wings’ Rohlfing to Mets organization Rochester Democrat & Chronicle– 4/22/15

Rochester Red Wings catcher Dan Rohlfing was shipped to the New York Mets on Wednesday in exchange for cash considerations.

Rohlfing, 26, has been on the disabled list since spring training ended because of a sprained left ankle.

The move alleviates a bit of a logjam at catcher for the Red Wings. They already have Josmil Pinto and Eric Fryer, plus Allan de San Miguel is on the disabled list.

Rohlfing had been in the Minnesota Twins minor-league system since 2007, when he was drafted on the 14th round.

The 2014 season was his first full year in Triple-A. He hit .205 with 2 home runs and 23 RBIs in 75 games. He split the 2013 season between the Wings and Double-A New Britain.

Rohlfing will be assigned to the Mets' Triple-A team in Las Vegas.

The Red Wings complete a four-game series in Syracuse with a 1:05 p.m. game on Thursday, then begin a 10-game home stand at 7:05 p.m. Friday with the first of three games against the Chiefs.

Wings rally, take slugfest in Syracuse Rochester Red Wings– 4/22/15

SYRACUSE, NY - The Rochester Red Wings erased two different five-run deficits and pounded out 16 hits in the process to beat the Syracuse Chiefs 11-7 Wednesday afternoon at NBT Bank Stadium.

Seven Wings tallied multiple hits and four players drove in two or more runs. The 16 hits are a season-high for Rochester.

Things did not start well for the Red Wings and starting pitcher Jason Wheeler on a blustery day in Syracuse. Ian Stewart tripled in two runs and scored on a Jason Martinson two-run home run as Syracuse led 4-0 after the first inning. Michael Taylor's solo home run in the second made it 5-0 Chiefs. The Red Wings got on the board with a Josmil Pinto ground out in the third but Stewart homered in the bottom half to give Syracuse its second five-run lead at 6-1.

Rochester began its comeback bid in the fourth, mostly with two outs. Reynaldo Rodriguez extended his hitting streak to a team-high eight games leading off the frame and Danny Ortiz followed with a walk. Back-to-back fielder's choices were recorded for the first two outs but Doug Bernier produced his first of three RBI singles to pull the Wings within 6-2. A coaching visit preceded an Aaron Hicks two-run double and Eddie Rosario followed with a two-run homer to knot the game at six.

Bernier's second RBI hit gave the Red Wings their first lead of the game in the fifth but the Chiefs used an infield single, two walks and two wild pitches, both by Stephen Pryor (1-0), to tie the score at seven apiece. Pryor relieved Wheeler, who finished his day by allowing seven runs on eight hits and one walk with three strikeouts in 4.1 innings.

Rosario helped give the Red Wings another lead with a hustle double to lead off the sixth. He would score on a Pinto single to center and Rochester was is front at 8-7. The Wings would plate three more runs in the inning to cap the scoring at 11-7.

A Rochester bullpen that has had recent struggles on this current 11-game road trip was fantastic as Pryor, Logan Darnell, A.J. Achter and Ryan Pressly combined to toss 4.2 hitless frames with two walks and six strikeouts. The latter three worked perfect innings as the final 11 Chiefs were retired in order.

Hicks and Bernier each recorded three hits and both drove in multiple runs along with Rosario and Pinto.

Next up: RHP Mark Hamburger (0-1) starts for the Wings as cap an 11-game road trip on Thursday at 1:05 p.m.

Next Home Game: Fri. April 24 vs. Syracuse (Nationals) at 7:05 p.m.

White then reached on a RBI fielder's choice, allowing Larson to score the third run. With runners on the corners, a double steal put the Kernels up 4-0. It looked like White would be picked off at first base, but he broke for second and was called safe. On the play, Murphy scored easily from third base.

Harrison launched a solo home run to deep left in the second inning as Wisconsin got on the board with their first hit. Harrison's first of two long balls on the night cut the Kernels lead to 4-1.
