MORE MISCELLANEOUS NUMBERS

LAST TIME OUT: August 2 vs. Seattle, Pelfrey went 8.0 innings and didn't allow a run on four hits with one walk and three strikeouts, not factoring in decision of the Twins 4-1 defeat in 11 innings vs. Seattle...it marked the fourth time in 203 career starts that he went 8.0 shutout innings, including the second this year, but this was the first in which he allowed fewer than six hits...with the shutout, Pelfrey dropped his home ERA to 2.05.

TWO STARTS AGO: Pelfrey went 5.1 innings and allowed three runs on five hits with two walks and three strikeouts July 28 vs. Pittsburgh, but did not factor in the Twins 8-7 defeat...he threw 4.0 scoreless innings before giving up two in the fifth, one unearned off a throwing error and the other resulting from a fielder's choice...the tying run came in the sixth inning on a RBI single from Travis Ishikawa...here is another note from his start: • Pelfrey hasn't won since beating Milwaukee June 7, a span of eight starts and five decisions...

however, in that time, he has received three-or-fewer runs of support in seven of the starts.

FORK IN THE ROAD: Pelfrey will be making his 11th start on the road this year...he is 2-5, 5.68 ERA (52.1 IP, 33 ER) with 19 walks and 18 strikeouts on the road compared to going 3-2 with a 2.05 ERA (66.0 IP, 15 ER), 17 walks and 38 strikeouts at Target Field...in fact, his 2.05 ERA at home is ranked third in the AL and ninth in all of baseball...for his career, Pelfrey has a 5.23 ERA (523.0 IP, 304 ER) on the road and a 3.87 ERA (668.0 IP, 287 ER) at home.

LOOKING INTO AUGUST: Pelfrey's career 3.70 ERA (182.1 IP, 75 ER) is his best monthly ERA of his career...in his only August as Twin, 2013, Pelfrey had a 3.60 ERA (35.0 IP, 14 ER) with 16 walks, 22 walks and just two home runs allowed.

AGAINST THE INDIANS: Pelfrey will be making his seventh career start against the Indians, includ-ing his third this season...he is 2-1 with a 2.65 ERA (34.0 IP, 10 ER), 19 BB, 20 K...Pelfrey last faced them on May 8 in Cleveland, and he got the win after going 7.0 innings and allowing two runs on six hits with two walks and no strikeouts in the 9-3 Twins victory...both of the runs Pelfrey gave up were in the third inning, and he finished the outing by retiring 11 of the final 12 hitters.

SUCCESS LIES ON THE GROUND: Pelfrey has induced 24 double plays this season, which leads all of baseball, just ahead of teammate Kyle Gibson's 23...he has induced 215 total ground balls on the season, sixth most in the AL...additionally, his 2.24 ground ball/fly ball ratio is fourth best in the AL, right behind Gibson's 2.46 ratio.

FIRST HALF RECAP: Pelfrey was named the fifth member of the rotation following Ervin Santana's suspension...he finished the first half with a 4.00 ERA (99.0 IP, 44 ER), 32 walks and 49 strikeouts in 17 starts...earned his first win of the season in his third start, April 22 at Kansas City, after tossing 7.0 shutout innings...he threw a season-high 112 pitches June 13 vs. Chicago-AL...nine of his 17 starts were quality starts, tied with Phil Hughes for second most among Twins starters, behind Kyle Gibson (11)...a few other notes on his first half:• Pelfrey posted an ERA of 2.25 through four April starts, the best of any Twin that month and

the third best month by a Twins starter this year (Gibson, 1.36-May; Milone, 2.03-June).• Induced 20 GIDP's, the second most in the majors, behind teammate Gibson (22).• Tossed 8.0 shutout innings June 7 against Milwaukee...it marked the first time pitching 8.0

innings since April 21, 2012 against SF (8.0 IP, 6 H, 1 ER) as a member of the New York Mets.

NO FIREWORKS IN JULY: Pelfrey had just four appearances and starts in July, his least amount of games played in July since only appearing in four and starting three in 2007...he went 0-2 with a 4.30 ERA (23.0 IP, 11 ER), six walks and 11 strikeouts...as a Twin, Pelfrey is 1-5 with a 3.73 ERA (50.2 IP, 21 ER), 15 walks and 32 strikeouts in July compared to going 11-12, 4.73 ERA (161.2 IP, 85 ER) with 53 walks and 100 strikeouts in his previous 28 July starts with the Mets.

TIME IN JUNE NOT OPPORTUNE: In six June starts, Pelfrey went 1-4, 5.35 ERA (35.1 IP, 21 ER), 13 walks and 16 strikeouts...16 of the 21 runs came in two starts compared to allowing just five runs in 29.2 innings in the other four starts...Pelfrey's 5.35 ERA in June ranks the highest among Twins starters...as a Twin, Pelfrey is 1-4, 5.10 ERA (54.2 IP, 31 ER) with 15 walks and 28 strikeouts in June compared to going 8-6, 4.42 ERA (134.1 IP, 66 ER) 43 walks and 77 strikeouts in his previous 22 career June starts with the Mets.
