YESTERDAY’S RECAP: The Twins beat the Yankees yesterday afternoon by a score of 3-1 at Hammond Stadium...Tommy Milone (1-1) was the starter and winner, allowing one run on four hits in 6.0 innings pitched with two walks and five strikeouts...Glen Perkins, Mike Pelfrey and Casey Fien combined for 3.0 scoreless innings...the offense recorded eight hits, two coming from Eduardo Escobar, who hit his fourth home run this spring.

TODAY’S STARTING PITCHER: Phil Hughes is making his fifth and final official start of the spring...he is slated to be the Opening Day starter for the Twins April 6 at Detroit, opposite David Price...he made a start in a minor league game against Tampa Bay’s Single-A club (pitching line below)...his last official start was on March 22 at Miami in Jupiter, allowing three runs on six hits in 4.2 innings pitched with two walks and four strikeouts, earning the win...in 2014, he set career-highs in innings pitched (209.2) and strikeouts (186) last season while being the recipient of the Calvin R. REST IN PEACE, RICCARDO INGRAM: Long-time Twins minor league coach Riccardo Ingram passed away yesterday in Atlanta, Georgia after suffering from Brain Cancer...born September 10, 1966...wife, Allison...daughters, Kacey and Kristen...resided in Lilburn, GA...2015 would have marked his 18th season in the organization, his third as coach for the GCL Twins...spent the previous three seasons as Triple-A and Double-A hitting instructor...was a coach at Rochester from 2008-09...spent 2007 managing New Britain, 2006 managing Ft. Myers and 2004 managing GCL Twins...coach at New Britain (2003), Ft. Myers (2000-02), Quad City (1999) and Ft. Wayne (1998)...ended playing career as an outfielder following the 1996 season...selected by Detroit in fourth round of the 1987 First-Year Player Draft out of Georgia Tech...played seven seasons in Detroit organization, 1988-94...played for Salt Lake in Minnesota’s organization in 1995...made appearances in major leagues for Detroit in 1994 and Minnesota in 1995.

EVERYDAY EDDIE: Eduardo Escobar has hit safely in 12 of 16 games this spring and is hitting .315 (17-for-54) with three doubles, four home runs, 15 RBI and 10 runs scored...he ranks second this spring among all AL players in RBI...in 2014, Escobar set career-highs in hits (119), doubles (35), home runs (6), RBI (37), walks (24), runs scored (52) and games (133)...his 35 doubles were tied for 10th most in the AL and tied for most among switch hitters in all of baseball...he was originally acquired by the Twins from Chicago-AL in exchange for Francisco Liriano July 28, 2012 (along with left-handed pitcher Pedro Hernandez)...he was the recipient the Charles O.
