Why are Goldy and Lee dancing? See why your county pork ambassadors rock.

Katie Winslow of Fountain will serve as the new Minnesota Pork Ambassador. Judges selected Winslow from a field of 17 county pork ambassadors during competition held in conjunction with Farmfest.

The Minnesota Pork Ambassador program, funded through the Pork Checkoff and sponsored by the Minnesota Pork Board, strives to develop young pork industry leaders.

Winslow, the daughter of Scott and Jean Winslow, represented the Fillmore County Pork Producers Association. She is a University of Minnesota student majoring in agricultural education and minoring in political science. As Minnesota Pork Ambassador, she will receive a $1,500 scholarship from the Minnesota Pork Board. After college, Winslow’s career path includes becoming an ag instructor or working with commodity or farm groups to carry out promotional and educational programs.

Winslow, Strobel and Johnston will represent the state’s 4,000 pork producing families at various functions throughout their term as pork ambassadors, including consumer and producer educational

events, and promotional activities that encourage pork consumption and public understanding of how pig farmers care for their animals. They will also have opportunities to enhance their understanding of the U.S. pork industry and to expand their leadership and communication skills.

His afternoon presentation, With Vision, There is Hope: How Not to be the Career of Last Choice, will discuss how an entire generation of Americans has been taught that getting your hands dirty at work is a less than fulfilling career choice. MJPRRS® inactivated vaccine is a proven, cost-effective* tool in the battle to control PRRS.

Many veterinarians have experienced the benefits and are now recommending MJPRRS® Vaccine in all phases of production. Reduced death loss, lower drug costs, and improved overall herd health are common observations* from veterinarians and producers alike.

Current generation of autogenous killed MJPRRS® vaccine is a tool for PRRS stabilization and control* in PRRS positive herds and is not designed for use as a stand-alone vaccine in a PRRS naïve herd.

Now is the ideal time to prepare for PRRS season. For improved PRRS control* it’s critical to provide timely vaccinations for sows. In order to do this you need to have vaccine in your hands as soon as possible. That leaves very little time. Contact MJ Biologics today!
