Minkee MonstersSTITCH ‘N’ TURN MINKEE® MONSTERS INSTRUCTIONS

Supplies:• OESD Design Collection #12399 Minkee® Monsters• 2 pieces Minkee® fabric one inch larger than chosen design• Mesh Cut-Away Stabilizer• Water soluble topping• Temporary spray adhesive• Polyesterstuffing(extra-softstuffingisrecommended)• Hand needle

Instructions:1. Hoop a single layer of Mesh Cut-Away stabilizer.2. Spray the stabilizer lightly with temporary spray adhesive.3. Stitchthefirstcolor,whichisthe“PlacementStitch”.4. Place a piece of Minkee® fabric right side up onto the mesh cut-away stabilizer,

beingsuretoentirelycoverthe“PlacementStitch”withapproximately½"excesson all sides. See Photo 1

5. Lightly spray a piece of water soluble topping with temporary Spray adhesive. Place the topping sprayed side down onto the Minkee® fabric.

6. Attach the hoop to the machine and select the monster design of your choice to stitch. Embroider all but the last color of the design. Refer to the cut in place appliqué directions for stitching the appliquéd areas. NOTE:Designs12399-10and12399-11(notstitch‘n’turn)contain appliquéd pockets. Refer to the following directions thatarespecifictothesedesigns.

7. Remove the hoop from the machine, but DO NOT remove the fabric from the hoop.

8. Clip all jump threads.9. Gentlytearawayexcesstopping.(Donotwettoremoveat

thistime). See Photo 210. Place another square of Minkee® fabric right side down

directlyoverthefirstpiece.If desired,pinortapeatcornersto secure.

11. Reattachthehooptothemachineandstitchthefinalcolor change, which is the “Seam Stitch”. This will stitch through both layers of Minkee® fabric. See Photo 3

12. Remove the hoop from the machine and the fabric from the hoop.

13. Using embroidery scissors, carefully cut out the Minkee® project close to the stitching line. Clip curves as needed.

14. Cutaslitapproximately1½"longintheback(non-embroideredside).See Photo 4

15. Turn the animal right side out. Use a chopstick to turn out corners and curves. See Photo 5

Stitch ribbon bows or embellishments on your Pals to dress them up. Please keep in mind the age of the person to be using the Minkee®Monsterandplan(oromit)add-onsaccordingly.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR POCKETS ON DESIGNS 12399-10 AND 12399-11

1. Stitch the design as you normally would, stopping after stitching the “Pocket PlacementStitch”.(Fordesign12399-10thisiscolor#7andfordesign12399-11thisiscolor#6)

2. Carefully remove the water soluble topping from within this stitched line.3. Cutacoordinatingcottonfabricthatwhenfoldedinhalf (wrongsidestogether

withthefoldtothetop)measuresatleast4½"widex5½" high.4. Very lightly spray the back of this folded cotton fabric with temporary spray

adhesive. 5. Center the folded cotton fabric over this stitched line, lining up the fold of

thefabricwiththetopedgeof thestitchedline.Thecottonfabricwillextendbeyond the stitched line on the left and right sides as well as the bottom edge. See Photo 6

6. Stitchthenextcolorwhichwillstitchthe“PocketCut Line and Tackdown”

7. Withsmall,sharpscissors,carefullycutawayexcesscotton fabric by cutting along the right and left sides as well as the bottom edge. Cut right up to the “Pocket Cut Line & Tackdown” stitch. See Photo 7

8. Continuestitching.Thenextcolorchangewillstitchthe “Pocket Cover Stitch”. This will create a nice, clean satin stitch down both sides as well as the bottom edge to complete your pocket. The folded edge will be open so that your monster now has a nice hiding spot for a little love note, trinket or even a tooth for the tooth fairy. See Photo 8HINT: To customize this pocket, simply stitch a design or lettering before folding and cutting pocket fabric to size.
