Rio Alto is a Peruvian success story that owes a lot of its formative achievements to its Mining Alliance with STRACON GyM.The Mining Alliance at the La Arena Gold Mine was the first of its kind in Peru, based on a cooperative and collaborative relationship between Rio Alto management and the management of STRACON GyM. A ‘best for project” principal was implemented from the outset with a united approach to getting La Arena started and run on the most optimal basis to the benefit of both Alliance Partners without conflict or adversity.
The flexibility and willingness of the STRACON GyM team to work with Rio Alto management to get the job done at La Arena was a key component to the project’s success.

With Hudbay venturing into new territory, open pit mining at altitude, new country, new language, no employee base, etc. STRACON GyM had the communication and transparency that provided us with the confidence that they would be good partners to manage the risks associated with the mining and the civil earthworks. That left us to concentrate on plant construction, permitting, social engagement and government relations.
The venture was successful and the cooperation at all levels was consistent. STRACON GyM proved flexible in their contract style and conflict resolution. They have also facilitated a seamless transition to owner mining. They were and are a key and integral part of the Constancia success.
