The UNSW School of Mining Engineering is the largest Mining School in Australia and boasts high quality staff, graduates and facilities - including our 3D Virtual Reality theatre where you can go beyond the textbook and the boundaries of traditional education and into the heart of experiential learning. Admission CriteriaA student who is enrolled in the Mining Transfer Program at

the University of Newcastle must apply to UAC for admission

to the Bachelor of Engineering (Mining Engineering) Program

at UNSW. To be eligible to be made an offer by the UNSW

Admissions Office the student must have achieved an equivalent

WAM of 50 or better in the Mining Transfer Program at the

University of Newcastle. In addition, the student must:

• be in “Good Standing” with the University

at the time of application;

• have passed all courses within the University of Newcastle

Mining Transfer program at the time of application; and

• If a student has failed one or more course(s), it must be

subsequently passed in later semesters at the University

of Newcastle prior to admission at UNSW. The calculation

of the Weighted Average Mark (WAM) for entry admission

into UNSW will be based on all courses for which a grade

has been awarded within the Mining Transfer Program.

Advanced StandingA student who has successfully completed the two year Mining

Transfer Program at the University of Newcastle and met the above

criteria will be eligible for Advanced Standing of up to a maximum

of the first two Stages in the Mining Engineering Program at UNSW,

thus requiring the student to complete at least the final two Stages

of the Program at UNSW. Successful completion of the courses in

the final two Stages of the program at UNSW will lead to the student

graduating with Bachelor of Engineering (Mining Engineering).
