Mini Booster Pumps & Pressure Sets CH/CHN

The CH/CHN range of compact horizontal booster pumps aredesigned for a wide range of applications including industrial,commercial and domestic water pressure boosting and distribution, horticultural irrigation, general transfer duties aswell as many specialised applications on packaged equipment.Both pump and continuously rated motor unit are of integraldesign and, particular attention has been paid to quietnessand smooth operation – a vital factor in many installations.Stainless steel is used for pump shaft, stage chambers andimpellers whilst carbon/ceramic is used for seal faces. These provide high efficiency and reliability without the needfor routine maintenance

MINIMUM SUCTION PIPE SIZESTo ensure that the full performance is obtained from your CHpump the following minimum size suction pipes must be used:Pump model CH(N)2 : 1", CH(N)4 : 1¼", CH8 : 1½", CH12 : 1½"

INSTALLATIONThe pump should be sited in a dry, well ventilated butfrost-free position, where it will not be subjected toextremes of temperature.

The environment should be non-aggressive and the atmosphere non-explosive.

The pump may be sited outside, but it must be protected fromthe elements by means of a suitable cover.Ensure that the pump and motor are at least 150mm clear ofobstructions or hot surfaces and that an adequate supply ofcool air reaches the motor cooling fan.Pump should be positioned as close as possible to the source ofwater supply, since centrifugal pumps are designed for 'pushing' not 'pulling' water.Ensure that the pump is positioned to allow access for examination and service, and that there are adequate drainfacilities and protection from water damage in the immediatevicinity of the pump.To facilitate removal for service or repair, it is recommendedthat the pump is connected to the pipework using unions.

CH(N) BOOSTER SET

The CH/CHN pump with the Pressure TankAssembly is suitable for installations wherethe height of the system above the pump isgreater than 20m or where a systempressure higher than 2.2 bar is required.

Two versions of the Pressure Tank Assemblyare available, a horizontal tank or a verticaltank arrangement, see fig 1 and 2.The simplified design of the vertical tankarrangement is recommended as it providesfor ease of assembly and generally improvedservice life.

The Pressure Tank Assembly is available inkit form or ready assembled and is suitablefor use with all CH(N)2/4 models, except forthe CH(N)4-20. A pressure switch withadjustable cut-in and cut out.

Booster set operation:

The pressure switch automatically controls the pump within anadjustable pressure range and has adjustments for 'cut-in' and'cut-out' pressures. The pressure switch opens and closes a setof contacts when the 'cut-out' and 'cut-in' pressures arereached respectively, thereby starting and stopping the pump.The pressure vessel makes up for small water demands,preventing unnecessary starting of the pump. The pressureswitch settings and pressure vessel precharge should beadjusted according to the system requirements, please referto the booster kit installation instructions forfurther details.

CH(N) PUMP WITH PRESSCONTROLThe presscontrol is a pumpON/OFF control device which can be used forautomatic control ofselected CH(N)2/4 models for connection to thecoil circuit of the contactor starter switchingthe pump.The presscontrol incorporates pressure andflow switches to start the pump when the flowis sensed or when the discharge pressure fallsto the pre-determined start pressure.

The pump is stopped when there is no flow and the pressure is0.5 bar above the start pressure. The presscontrol incorporates protection against dry running,which is activated when the pump is in operation but notdeveloping sufficient pressure or flow after a short period ofoperation. The presscontrol is reset by pressing the rest button.The built-in flow switch eliminates pump cycling as the pumpis not stopped until the flow has stopped. The inlet of thepresscontrol incorporates a non-return valve, and is available intwo versions:

PC15: Cut-in pressure = 1.5 bar (maximum height of outletabove presscontrol = 13m) unsuitable for use with CH(N)4-20 models.

PC22: Cut-in pressure = 2.2 bar (maximum height outletabove presscontrol = 20m), unsuitable for use with CH(N)2-30. The pump must be capable of a pressure 0.5 bar above the cut-in pressure.

The presscontrol has indicator lights for:Green: Electrical supply is onYellow: The pump is onRed: There is a pump or system fault If the red light is on,the pump can be restarted by pressing the reset button.The Presscontrol may also be used with a pressure vessel suchas the WXF20H to give a greater volume of stored water, thereby reducing unnecessary starts for small draw-off’s.
