John is a Consultant with over 6 years of experience in mine ventilation system design and analyses for metal, non-metal, and coal mines around the

world; plans, coordinates and conducts ventilation surveys of underground mines. He provides short courses in underground mine ventilation measurement, planning and modeling, and conducts ventilation audits for underground mines. He manages the NQA-1 quality assurance program for SRK’s work in subsurface nuclear facilities.subsurface nuclear facilities.

8 a.m. – 10 a.m. Starting a ventilation study, detailed friction factor analysis, and using proper resistance values

General fan issues

10 a.m. – 12 p.m. Common ventilation modelling errors and corrections (black box, expansion, natural ventilation pressure, thermal parameters, over balancing)

1 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. Interpreting the results of the ventilation model, what else is required (air velocity, dust entrainment, regulator orifice area calculation and limitations)

Wednesday - Guest Speakers and Best Practices
