When I’m deeply sleepI thought of something around sweet

The good fortune that I will beIn the future that I will come to be

When I wake in the morningThinking sometimes dream can happen

Wearing smile every now and then For a very nice and sweet dream

But realities in life is not that easy If someone wants to achieve and be somebody

Because hardship is always in our waySo we need to resist what difficulties it will be

Dream can only happenTo those who are willing for everything

Willing to sacrifice just to attain one’s dreamTrusting that God will always poured His blessings.

WE are now about to end the month of Febru-ary- the love month. Just few months ago when we started the school year 2012-2013, and now we are about to end up the school year since the month of March is fast approaching. The stu-dents, parents, teachers and administrators of different level of educa-tion are now starting to get busy.

Students are fac-ing dif ferent several tasks to accomplish like projects, reports, research work and many others. They need to study also for their coming final exams. likewise in the part of parents, it’s now the time for them to pre-

pare financial support for their students , for their children’s tuition fees, projects and other school obligations.

So with the part of the teachers, as being multi - task one, other burdens added to them aside from computing grades, check-ing of students’ projects and research work they really need to plan out their presentations and graduat ion ceremony practices if teacher is handling graduating class.

Is graduation really means end? According to Webster’s Universal Dictionary and thesaurus, graduation is a series of systematic steps in rank degree, intensity and etc. This really means that vic-

tory in education started from the most simple stage or level of victory. In other words, graduation is a gradual progression.

For elementary gradu-ates, they still have to pur-sue for their high school. For high school graduates, they will have to pursue their college and to the next higher level of vic-tory. Graduation is an unending event in life if one has the perseverance and strong determination to attain one’s dream. So in one’s life, one must not stop looking for life’s or career’s improvement. While one has life op-portunity is just around. Never stop dreaming. Be-lieve one self and God will guide through all the way.

In an attempt to inspire his subordinates, DR. ARMIn A. LUISTRO FSC challenged the Department of Education personnel with encouraging message. In his statement: “Our department has begun to become a true government for the people. One that is profes-sional, competent, and commit-ted, set on serving the needs of our countrymen. Dedicated to provide every Filipino child the opportunity to stretch her mind, broaden her heart and nurture her spirit”.

Moreover, he recognized “Each one’s contributions to the cause of education as “an opportunity to make the teachers’ mark in history, to leave a legacy for our children, and our children’s children, to make our families proud”. Ac-cordingly, “This is the perfect time and opportunity to make a

difference and truly be agents of change, to change the face of the government, to change the destiny of our people.”

In my opinion, TEACHInG as a profession is a variety of vision and challenges. Per-sonally, I am impressed with the Secretary’s statement: “Together with all the progress unfolding in the sectors of our economy, health, safety, public works, national defense and private, the Philippines has clearly gathered momentum towards a better and higher future. We are part of this progress. We are making it happen”. In addition, I am elated realizing that I have chosen the perfect career and have taken the right direction in life.

Recently, the ALLIAnCE for COnCERnED TEACH-ERS - a party list protecting the rights of the TUTORS

proposed an act believed to be beneficial to the mentors. It suggested modifying the COMPULSORY efforts of the teachers during election into VOLUnTARY and adjust its compensation from FOUR THOUSAnD (4,000.00) PE-SOS into SEVEn THOUSAnD (7,000.00) PESOS. Hopefully, this will recompense the mini-mum bonus we received last year which was only FIVE THOUSAnD (5,000.00), lesser than the bonus received by a UTILITY WORKER of other government institutions.

However, the idea of fascinating the lives of the younger generation and taking an important role in molding the children’s personality is more than enough reparation for all the sacrifices and the difficulties experienced by a TEACHER like me.

Teaching - A modest but gallant profession

THINK a minute…Not long ago a famous football coach in America suddenly resigned and quit at the top of his very successful career. He said that the number one reason he was leaving his high-paying posi-tion was that it was time he started doing his job of loving and caring for his wife. This tough football coach said: “Nothing tells you more about a man than what you see in His wife. In her face you will often see if he makes her feel really loved or not. You can see what kind of man he is by looking at how happy his wife is.”

It’s been said that you can tell a lot about a country by

Man to manthe character of its men. The true measure of manhood is usually very different than most men’s thinking. A real man loves his wife by putting her needs first, because he is the stronger one who can patiently wait for his needs and desires to be satisfied. But it is sad and embarrass-ing that many times it is the wife who must be stronger by putting her husband’s needs and desires first, because he is too weak and selfish. He is actually forcing her to be the stronger one who always puts him first.

Jesus Christ taught that when we think being strong and the “King of our Castle”

means having people serve us, then we are completely wrong. The greatest, strongest men are those who can deny their own desires for the needs of their wife and children first. Real men are full of kindness, compassion, self-control and honesty. Every day I must ask myself: Is my wife a better, happier person because she is married to me? Do I help my wife succeed or do I hold you back? Is she a better mother because of me? When I am a better man, then my wife will follow my example and become a better woman.

The good news is that you and I can start changing today and become real men if we

gate, compared to the many on the broad road, there will still be multitudes who will follow the Jesus Going through the narrow gate is not easy. Jesus made this clear. No amount of effort saves us; salvation is by the grace of God through the gift of faith

MATTHEW 7:13-14 “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruc-tion, and many enter through it. 14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it. Jesus is described here as the narrow gate. Jesus says that “small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it. What exactly is meant by this? Just how many are the many and how few are the few? The Bible teaches us that there is no other way to heaven because He alone is “the way, the truth and the life” (John

The narrow gate

14:6). Many people will at-tempt to find an alternative way to God. They will try to get there through manmade rules and regulations, through false religion, and practices.

While there will surely few who go through the narrow

(Ephesians 2:8-9). No one will ever earn heaven by doing man’s ways. But entering the narrow gate is still difficult because of the opposition of human pride, our natural love of sin, and the opposition of Satan. What men have to do is to repent and enter the gate and not to just stand and look at it, think about it, complain that it’s too small or too dif-ficult or unjustly narrow. In as much as we are concerned and consider what is life after death, we should not make excuses or delays now. If heaven is real, so is hell. Choose Jesus, choose heaven.

Kini

serbisyong panglawas matu-man.

Aduna ba?

PIANews BitsTHE National Economic De-

velopment Authority (NEDA) projects the economy to grow from 6% to 7% this year based on the improved business and consumer confidence particularly in the last quarter of 2012.

During the recent Cargo Economics Conference, Em-manuel F. Esguerra, NEDA Deputy Director General, said that this growth is bigger than the 6.6% GDP performance in 2012.

As it is, the 2012 growth is already the fastest in Asia, next only to China.

What helped this perfor-mance is the country’s low and stable inflation contained at about three percent, favorable interest rate and sound bank-ing system, and a sustainable fiscal and external position, he explained.

On the supply side, the services sector accounted for 7.4%; industry, 6.5%; and agriculture, hunting, forestry and fishing, 2.7%.

Of the services sector, transport, communications and storage represented some 7.5% in the 2012 GDP growth, followed by real estate and

renting at 7.90%.Government expendi-

ture (11.8%), exports (8.7%) and household consumption (6.1%) fuelled last year’s de-mand, with exports reaching a record $51.994 billion or 7.6% growth over the $48.3 billion in 2011. The govern-ment is maintaining its ten percent export growth target for this year.

In December alone, exports rose 16.5% to $3.97 billion, reversing its 18.9% fall in the same month of 2011. This is despite a 5.5% decline in electronics shipments to $1.506 billion. Such performance was the best in Asia, with Hong Kong managing 14.8% growth; China, 14.1%; Vietnam, 14.1% and Thailand, 13.5%

Sergio R. Ortiz-Luis Jr., President of the Philippine Exporters Confederation, Inc. (PHILEXPORT) separately explained that there is a need to adjust the goal to 15% an-nually to attain $120 billion by 2016, the export target indicated in the Philippine Export Development Plan (PEDP) 2013-2016, since last year’s growth is below the original ten to 11% target.

“The improving perfor-mance of the electronics sec-tor will help us achieve this revised target,” Ortiz-Luis noted, adding that our product diversification program under the PEDP can help push the exports of non-electronics products such as machinery and transport equipment, woodcraft and furniture and fruits and vegetables.

Meanwhile, Esguerra’s pre-sentation also showed that Philippine imports grew by 4.2% mostly from ASEAN, which is attributed to the increasing benefits from this regional trade agreement. Other top Philippine import markets are China, US and Japan.

Such improvement in the country’s external trade is re-flected in the parallel growth in cargo throughput last year, which improved by 7.8% year-on-year to 90.9 metric tons, while ship traffic was 2.2% better.

Tourist arrivals bridged the four million mark in 2012, with the government expecting further tourist influx as the macroeconomic environment is positively sustained.

Esguerra also noted that the country’s improving com-petitiveness ranking will con-tribute further to the attain-ment of the 2013 targets.

“It is important to pursue policies that will contribute to the country’s goals in the near term”, he noted. These include stimulating domestic demand, diversifying domestic and ex-ternal trade, accelerating fiscal spending and strengthening economic relations with fast-growing ASEAN economies.

Specifically on the logistics chain, he cited, among other recommendations, the need to encourage more infrastructure investments, upgrade and build new transport facilities and implement the National Transport Policy.

He however cautioned against challenges and risks such as the uncertainty in the Euro area; the ‘fiscal cliff ’ of the US; possible spikes in global petroleum prices; El Nino and typhoons; delayed or non-implementation of reforms and persistent high unemployment and under-employment in the country. The Decision further stated that NGCP fully complied with the requirements of the proce-dural due process before the complainants were dismissed from employment. As ruled by the court, the show-cause letter, the complainants’ expla-nation in writing, the adminis-trative investigation of NGCP where complainants answers the charges against them, and the final notice of termination of employment are sufficient to satisfy the requirements of due process prescribed by the Labor Code.

downtown hotel last Febru-ary 19, 2013 were briefed by executives of the airline companies of the visual ap-proach in landing technique first taught to student pilots in their light aircraft modules in preference to an instrument landing approach. Apprehension on how it applies to the Airbus 320’s or bigger aircraft model with more than 200 passengers and an average cargo load of 57,064 kilograms can impair safe aircraft handling without the air navigational landing equipment. Flying experts who knows the factors to be considered in handling various aircrafts and its size are aware that when Pilots accept Air Traffic Controllers instruction for visual approach, it requires balanced elements of visibility conditions, weather turbulence in an airport near an open sea and the airline crew’s experience. The tree factors must be 100% present to assure the aircraft safety landing. Queries on how visual landing can accommodate the average 26 flights in and out of Cagayan de Oro daily without seeing the runway at daylight smack fear on the reduction of flights to the city affecting airline companies reconfigura-tion of their schedules all over the country as a result of the change of flight schedules. Airline companies wanted three months advance notice by the government to stream-line their scheduling. According to the business sector, the reduction of flights could also ruin the econom-ic momentum of Northern Mindanao which is now the fastest growing region in the Philippines. There were other issues discussed that compound the premature opening of the airport. Questions of who should pay the 3 megawatt power requirement that will be provided by the Misamis Oriental Electric Cooperative have not been resolved? A three-megawatt consump-tion of electricity is equivalent

to the total consumption of the entire Gingoog City. The road network which is behind schedule to cope up to the sudden increase of vehicu-lar traffic in the 48 kilometers road stretch is moving turtle pace in the widening of the national highway along the Municipality of Opol to the Municipality of Alubijid which has not been completed. The bypass road in Opol going to the City which will reduced the load of Bulua highway of heavy cargo trucks remained closed. With the 804,430 incom-ing passengers and 817,619 outgoing passengers data as provided by the local Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines in Cagayan de Oro Lumbia Airport last year and projected to grow 12% in 2013, the flow of vehicular traffic in the two lanes highway will create a tumultuous bumper to bumper situation. The stakeholders in Region 10 have forwarded a letter of concern to Secretary Emilio Abaya and requested for an audience in Manila but reports reaching the business community was “it was not entertained by the Secretary and the letter is with the desk of his Assistant Secretary”. Observers believes that the DOTC Secretary wanted to solve the problem in NAIA first and prioritize the de-congestion of air traffic at the premier airport which has been for years besieged with overcrowding at short intervals of every five minutes during the peak hours in the

afternoon of planes landing and taking off in the runway. The presence of private han-gars operating private planes and chartered flights ads to the congestion. Flying schools and air cargo carriers are squeezing every space at the former Nichols airstrips. Moving these non essential operations and op-erators from the international airport to a place nearby would entail a domino effect by removing the Philippine Air force 15th Strike Wing from Sangley Point in Cavite and relocating this to Lumbia Airport in Cagayan de Oro to accommodate aviation that will be displaced from NAIA 1 and 3 clean up. Secretary Emilio Abaya prior to his appointment to the DOTC is the former Congress-man from the 1st District of Cavite which includes Cavite City where Sangley Point is located. He wants to make Sangley Point the new hub of general aviation nearest to Manila in fact a directive was already issued last December 2012 that all private planes and private commercial operations at NAIA be moved to Sangley not later than 2015. He wants the Philippine Air force 15th Strike Wing out of Sangley Point and re-locates those aging aircrafts and Vietnam War vintage Huey Helicopters to Cagayan de Oro without even consulting the people of the City if they want to host the 15th Strike Wing in the Cagayan de Oro skies?

AMONG the schemes re-vised by the Department of Education to facilitate learning in all levels of the society, the ALTERNATIVE LEARNING SYSTEM is the most comprehensive but convenient method proven to be effective landmark of the Philippine Education. ALTERNATIVE LEARN-ING SYSTEM provides impartial access of adult literacy to formal school-ing. It instigates individuals who were disadvantaged by poverty and early mar-riage to pursue their studies and even earn a degree. It emphasized practical and expedient techniques proven to be the most beneficial as well as tranquil manner of transferring knowledge and skills to interested students.

The mechanics upheld by ALTERNATIVE LEARN-ING SYSTEM is relegating ALS Coordinator and Mobile Teacher in each District to reach out prospects in every single remote Barangays of the entire nation. Said tu-tors are instructed to cater individuals who cannot read and write for Basic Literacy Program, beyond 12 years old for Accreditation and Equivalency on Elementary Level in addition to ages 16 to 25 years old for Accredita-tion and Equivalency Pro-gram for Secondary Level. The mentors carry orders of persuading potential pupils to enroll at the district of-fice, attend the required 800 hours of classes and take the compulsory examinations held annually on the months

of October or November. After which, accredited students will wait for the results usually available on the month of February to ensure that the qualified students can warrant ample time to register for the next level of education should they decide to pursue their studies. The Certificates issued to eligible pupils are duly signed by the Dep Ed Secretary, DR. ARMIN A. LUISTRO FSC. Over a decade, hundreds of Filipinos benefit ALTER-NATIVE LEARNING SYS-TEM. It is believed to be the best innovation to promote adult literacy in the history of Philippine Education. The preliminary strategy to foster education for everybody in our Country.

Alternative learning system

THE death of then Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary JESSE ROBREDO affected not only the routine of the elected officials and employees of the Local Government Units, but the lives of the men and women of the Department of Education as well. This is the foremost im-pression of a message conveyed by DEPED Secretary DR. ARMIN A. LUISTRO, FSC for his subordinates right after the passing away of his colleague. In reminiscence, DR. LUISTRO quote the late Secretary’s depiction of “a true and dedicated public ser-vant as: Hindi lahat ng MATINO ay MAHUSAY, at lalo namang hindi lahat ng MAHUSAY ay MATINO. Ang dapat ay MATINO AT MA-HUSAY upang karapatdapat tayong pagtiwalaan ng pera ng Bayan”. Kailangan ng DEPED ang mahuhu-say at matitinong kawani dahil sa ating mga kamay ipinagkatiwala ang mga kabataan ng ating bayan” As expected, DR. LUISTRO en-couraged his minions to be inspired

by the way the late JESSE ROBREDO uplifts the lives of ordinary Fili-pinos through genuine service of the government. He presented the idea as an obligation every educator should remember and emulate with hopes that the memory of the life and works of model public servants shall empower and strengthen the teachers and staff of the Education Sector. Moreover, he buoys up the mentors to proclaim to the Filipino people that hope remains in gov-ernment and as Secretary; he has full faith and confidence in each of his underlings. Personally, I am Impressed upon hearing such a modest speech from a person of highest rank in the field of educa-tion. Recently, the DEPED personnel received only Php5,000.00 Christ-mas Bonus, the least among all the government employees, even lesser than the utility worker of other Local Government Units. The COMELEC recompense the teacher’s services during election with minimal amount that cannot

compensate long hours of staying awake and subjected to hazards instigated by advocates of fraud and other election-related violence. But I contest my fellow teachers to look deeper into the value of our profession: The dignity of being accountable for molding a child’s personality; the advantage of deal-ing with human being; the pride of partaking tremendous knowledge for the benefit of the younger generations; the vanity of looking smart every hour of the day and the pride of belonging to the most decent vocation of humanity. For me, the LEGACY of being an exemplary teacher is the best bequest I can give to my children and my children’s children. I com-mit to memory a simple but suitable quotation believed by the brilliant and the wonderful individuals during their time: “Be the best of whoever you are”. This precisely is the reason that I am stirred to wake up early each morning, wear a smile even in weariness and enthused to work in lethargy.

CAGAYAN de Oro City – WITH the year 2013 de-clared as the National Year of Rice by President Be-nigno S. Aquino, III under Proclamation No. 494, the National Food Authority (NFA) - Misamis Oriental Provincial Office under the Department of Agriculture (DA) is currently spearhead-ing Ugnayan activities to various palay/corn farmers and farmers’ organizations in Misamis Oriental and North-ern Bukidnon, covering the towns of Talakag, Manolo Fortich, Libona, Baungon and Malitbog. In view of the declaration which stresses the promo-tion of responsible rice con-sumption for better health and lesser rice wastage and productive farming, the Ugnayan supports the initiative through informing the farmers on the pro-curement activities of the DA-NFA, particularly the government’s support price for rice to ensure market for their produce and to enable them to have a fair return on their production investment. Currently, the DA-NFA’s support price for palay is at P17 per kilogram (kg), clean and dry. In addition to the basic price, the government also extends incentives to palay deliveries: Coopera-tive Development Incentive Fee (CDIF) – 0.30/kg, dry-ing fee – 0.20/kg and de-livery fee – 0.20/kg – 0.50/kg maximum, resulting to an overall price range of P17.70/kg – 18.00/kg. # (Marianne Chan-Tapongot, Provincial Information Of-ficer, DA-NFA, MisOr)

CAGAYAN de Oro – February 24, 2013 - The Cagayan de Oro Bloggers, Inc., holds the first two meet-up for this year last Feb-ruary 9 and 23 at two different fast food chains in the city. The meet-up was dubbed as “Tipok-Tipok” which was organized by Eldie “Ding” Aban, CDO Blog-gers Board Member and Venus Mabale, the Vice President for Internal Affairs. “Tipok-Tipok” aims to welcome interested members and a venue for sharing tips on blogging. The existing members help new members setup their own blogs and give out tips on utilizing the full potential of social media. Also, the activity itself served as an offline social activity for most online workers. For this year, the organization will be holding one or two “Tipok-Tipok” per month to promote unity and camaraderie among bloggers in Cagayan de Oro.

cdo bloggers, inc. holds first two tipok-tipok for 2013 “We’d like to continue the monthly meet-up which really made the organization strong and standing.” says Ding Aban. Venus Mabale also added, “CDO Bloggers started with a meet-up and I believe it is still the best way to bring bloggers in one venue aside from the internet.” Dates and venues of the meet-ups are announced on the CDO Bloggers Facebook Page and Twit-ter Page. CDO Bloggers opens its membership to the public until the middle of March this year. For inquiries and submission of application, you can send it to [email protected].
