In going around the country, Villar says she has been conveying her message to the people, par-ticularly her platform and

the programs she intends to do if she wins as senator. She also says the people are more aware now of what they do in the Vil-lar Foundation where she is the managing director. The foundation has been helping our OFWs for the past 20 years. She says the results of this survey and the previous surveys indi-cate that the people believe in her and her programs and advocacies.

THE Cagayan de Oro Emergency Assistance and Communications Center (Comcenter) re-sponded to 380 calls for assistance from Janu-ary 1 to 31, 2013.

This was reported by Comcenter Manager Ric Pabayo to the office of the city mayor and the city vice mayor.

Said report shows that the Comcenter re-

ceived calls for assis-tance for incidents, such as traffic accidents, public utility trouble, public disturbance, rob-bery and theft, physical injury, among others.

It was learned that 200 calls were coursed through telephones, 140 through radio and 40 were personally re-quested. (The Power/asf)

WE are now about to end the month of Febru-ary- the love month. Just few months ago when we started the school year 2012-2013, and now we are about to end up the school year since the month of March is fast approaching. The stu-dents, parents, teachers and administrators of different level of educa-tion are now starting to get busy.

Students are fac-ing dif ferent several tasks to accomplish like projects,reports, research work and many others. They need to study also for their coming final exams. likewise in the part of parents, it’s now the time for them to pre-

pare financial support for their students , for their children’s tuition fees, projects and other school obligations.

So with the part of the teachers, as being multi - task one, other burdens added to them aside from computing grades, check-ing of students’ projects and research work they really need to plan out their presentations and graduat ion ceremony practices if teacher is handling graduating class.

Is graduation really means end? According to Webster’s Universal Dictionary and thesaurus, graduation is a series of systematic steps in rank degree, intensity and etc. This really means that vic-

tory in education started from the most simple stage or level of victory. In other words, graduation is a gradual progression.

For elementary gradu-ates, they still have to pur-sue for their high school. For high school graduates, they will have to pursue their college and to the next higher level of vic-tory. Graduation is an unending event in life if one has the perseverance and strong determination to attain one’s dream. So in one’s life, one must not stop looking for life’s or career’s improvement. While one has life op-portunity is just around. Never stop dreaming. Be-lieve one self and God will guide through all the way.

In an attempt to inspire his subordinates, DR. ARMIn A. LUISTRO FSC challenged the Department of Education personnel with encouraging message. In his statement: “Our department has begun to become a true government for the people. One that is profes-sional, competent, and commit-ted, set on serving the needs of our countrymen. Dedicated to provide every Filipino child the opportunity to stretch her mind, broaden her heart and nurture her spirit”.

Moreover, he recognized “Each one’s contributions to the cause of education as “an opportunity to make the teachers’ mark in history, to leave a legacy for our children, and our children’s children, to make our families proud”. Ac-cordingly, “This is the perfect time and opportunity to make a

difference and truly be agents of change, to change the face of the government, to change the destiny of our people.”

In my opinion, TEACHInG as a profession is a variety of vision and challenges. Per-sonally, I am impressed with the Secretary’s statement: “Together with all the progress unfolding in the sectors of our economy, health, safety, public works, national defense and private, the Philippines has clearly gathered momentum towards a better and higher future. We are part of this progress. We are making it happen”. In addition, I am elated realizing that I have chosen the perfect career and have taken the right direction in life.

proposed an act believed to be beneficial to the mentors. It suggested modifying the COMPULSORY efforts of the teachers during election into VOLUnTARY and adjust its compensation from FOUR THOUSAnD (4,000.00) PE-SOS into SEVEn THOUSAnD (7,000.00) PESOS. Hopefully, this will recompense the mini-mum bonus we received last year which was only FIVE THOUSAnD (5,000.00), lesser than the bonus received by a UTILITY WORKER of other government institutions.

However, the idea of fascinating the lives of the younger generation and taking an important role in molding the children’s personality is more than enough reparation for all the sacrifices and the difficulties experienced by a TEACHER like me.

You can see what kind of man he is by looking at how happy his wife is.”

means having people serve us, then we are completely wrong. The greatest, strongest men are those who can deny their own desires for the needs of their wife and children first. Real men are full of kindness, compassion, self-control and honesty. Every day I must ask myself: Is my wife a better, happier person because she is married to me? Do I help my wife succeed or do I hold you back? Is she a better mother because of me? When I am a better man, then my wife will follow my example and become a better woman.

The good news is that you and I can start changing today and become real men if we

14:6). Many people will at-tempt to find an alternative way to God. They will try to get there through manmade rules and regulations, through false religion, and practices.

While there will surely few who go through the narrow

(Ephesians 2:8-9). No one will ever earn heaven by doing man’s ways. But entering the narrow gate is still difficult because of the opposition of human pride, our natural love of sin, and the opposition of Satan. What men have to do is to repent and enter the gate and not to just stand and look at it, think about it, complain that it’s too small or too dif-ficult or unjustly narrow. In as much as we are concerned and consider what is life after death, we should not make excuses or delays now. If heaven is real, so is hell. Choose Jesus, choose heaven.

velopment Authority (NEDA) projects the economy to grow from 6% to 7% this year based on the improved business and consumer confidence particularly in the last quarter of 2012.

During the recent Cargo Economics Conference, Em-manuel F. Esguerra, NEDA Deputy Director General, said that this growth is bigger than the 6.6% GDP performance in 2012.

As it is, the 2012 growth is already the fastest in Asia, next only to China.

What helped this perfor-mance is the country’s low and stable inflation contained at about three percent, favorable interest rate and sound bank-ing system, and a sustainable fiscal and external position, he explained.

On the supply side, the services sector accounted for 7.4%; industry, 6.5%; and agriculture, hunting, forestry and fishing, 2.7%.

Of the services sector, transport, communications and storage represented some 7.5% in the 2012 GDP growth, followed by real estate and

renting at 7.90%.Government expendi-

ture (11.8%), exports (8.7%) and household consumption (6.1%) fuelled last year’s de-mand, with exports reaching a record $51.994 billion or 7.6% growth over the $48.3 billion in 2011. The govern-ment is maintaining its ten percent export growth target for this year.

In December alone, exports rose 16.5% to $3.97 billion, reversing its 18.9% fall in the same month of 2011. This is despite a 5.5% decline in electronics shipments to $1.506 billion. Such performance was the best in Asia, with Hong Kong managing 14.8% growth; China, 14.1%; Vietnam, 14.1% and Thailand, 13.5%

Meanwhile, Esguerra’s pre-sentation also showed that Philippine imports grew by 4.2% mostly from ASEAN, which is attributed to the increasing benefits from this regional trade agreement. Other top Philippine import markets are China, US and Japan.

Such improvement in the country’s external trade is re-flected in the parallel growth in cargo throughput last year, which improved by 7.8% year-on-year to 90.9 metric tons, while ship traffic was 2.2% better.

Tourist arrivals bridged the four million mark in 2012, with the government expecting further tourist influx as the macroeconomic environment is positively sustained.

Esguerra also noted that the country’s improving com-petitiveness ranking will con-tribute further to the attain-ment of the 2013 targets.

“It is important to pursue policies that will contribute to the country’s goals in the near term”, he noted. These include stimulating domestic demand, diversifying domestic and ex-ternal trade, accelerating fiscal spending and strengthening economic relations with fast-growing ASEAN economies.

Specifically on the logistics chain, he cited, among other recommendations, the need to encourage more infrastructure investments, upgrade and build new transport facilities and implement the National Transport Policy.

He however cautioned against challenges and risks such as the uncertainty in the Euro area; the ‘fiscal cliff ’ of the US; possible spikes in global petroleum prices; El Nino and typhoons; delayed or non-implementation of reforms and persistent high unemployment and under-employment in the country. CAGAYAN de Oro City – WITH the year 2013 de-clared as the National Year of Rice by President Be-nigno S. Aquino, III under Proclamation No. 494, the National Food Authority (NFA) - Misamis Oriental Provincial Office under the Department of Agriculture (DA) is currently spearhead-ing Ugnayan activities to various palay/corn farmers and farmers’ organizations in Misamis Oriental and North-ern Bukidnon, covering the towns of Talakag, Manolo Fortich, Libona, Baungon and Malitbog. In view of the declaration which stresses the promo-tion of responsible rice con-sumption for better health and lesser rice wastage and productive farming, the Ugnayan supports the initiative through informing the farmers on the pro-curement activities of the DA-NFA, particularly the government’s support price for rice to ensure market for their produce and to enable them to have a fair return on their production investment. Currently, the DA-NFA’s support price for palay is at P17 per kilogram (kg), clean and dry. CAGAYAN de Oro – February 24, 2013 - The Cagayan de Oro Bloggers, Inc., holds the first two meet-up for this year last Feb-ruary 9 and 23 at two different fast food chains in the city. The meet-up was dubbed as “Tipok-Tipok” which was organized by Eldie “Ding” Aban, CDO Blog-gers Board Member and Venus Mabale, the Vice President for Internal Affairs. “Tipok-Tipok” aims to welcome interested members and a venue for sharing tips on blogging. The existing members help new members setup their own blogs and give out tips on utilizing the full potential of social media. Also, the activity itself served as an offline social activity for most online workers. For this year, the organization will be holding one or two “Tipok-Tipok” per month to promote unity and camaraderie among bloggers in Cagayan de Oro.

cdo bloggers, inc. holds first two tipok-tipok for 2013 “We’d like to continue the monthly meet-up which really made the organization strong and standing.” says Ding Aban. Venus Mabale also added, “CDO Bloggers started with a meet-up and I believe it is still the best way to bring bloggers in one venue aside from the internet.” Dates and venues of the meet-ups are announced on the CDO Bloggers Facebook Page and Twit-ter Page.
