Change is in the air! Some of us get excited and energized by change, while others may be filled with some apprehension or even fear at the mere thought of change. In Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 we read: For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven….As we go through this season of change together, may we put our faith and trust in our God, who is in complete control and knows our every need. At the end of October, we bid farewell to Pastor Joshua Pantoja and his wife Febe. Joshua faithfully served our congregation as Interim Associate Pastor for the past 23 months. Although we may be sad to see Pastor Joshua leave, we are very thankful for his leadership and contributions to our spiritual development and the work of our church. May God continue to bless Pastor Joshua and Febe as they transition into their next season of ministry.

On Sunday November 4, Pastor Aaron Linville will be installed as our new full time pastor. We will be having a potluck lunch after service that day, so please plan to attend and help welcome Pastor Aaron and his wife Amy. Pastor Aaron graduated from Moravian Theological Seminary in 2013 and has been serving as the Pastor at Rural Hall Moravian Church in Rural Hall, North Carolina for the past four years. Aaron and Amy look forward to getting to know all of us, and have asked the Joint Board to help organize some “Meet and greet” gatherings over the next couple of months. Stay tuned for more details!

The Joint Board would like to express our sincere appreciation to Pastor Milton Liska for serving as Interim Associate Pastor & Music Director during our time without a senior pastor. Pastor Milton has taken on

administrative, pastoral, and worship duties while we have been in the call process, and he has done a wonderful job of keeping everything running smoothly. Milton, you have been a blessing to our congregation and we thank you for your dedication and faithful service!

Beginning November 1, Pastor Milton will be returning to the position of Music Director, as Pastor Aaron will be taking over the pastoral, worship and administrative leadership of our congregation. Melanie Wilcox will continue to provide administrative and financial support in our office. We thank Melanie for taking on extra administrative duties in the absence of a full time pastor!

As God’s followers, we are charged with the responsibility to welcome and accept a pastor whom God sends to us. In Matthew 10 we read: “Those who welcome you are welcoming me. And when they welcome me they are welcoming God who sent me. 41 If you welcome a prophet because he is a man of God, you will be given the same reward a prophet gets. And if you welcome good and godly men because of their godliness, you will be given a reward like theirs.”

Here are a few suggestions of ways to welcome a new pastor with a spirit of openness and hospitality:

Open your hearts and decide that you are going to love your new pastor! Be supportive and affirming. Consider sending a card of welcome and encouragement.

Wear name tags at worship services (will be provided) and introduce yourself repeatedly. It will take time to learn all our names.

Help Aaron & Amy get to know you and our community. Invite them to your home, or take them out around Edmonton, perhaps to your favorite restaurant?

Be open to change and let Aaron be himself. He has unique gifts and

talents, so allow him to minister in his own way.

Pray daily for our Pastor Aaron and Amy

Trust that God will work through this time of transition by bringing new life, new ideas, and new excitement to our ministry at Millwoods Community Church and our community!

Candle TrimmingWe need your help for Candle Trimming/Decorating on November 25 following worship. We will be having a soup and sandwich lunch right after worship, sign up sheet in Sunday binder. We encourage you to join in on this fellowship opportunity.

MWCC Food HamperWe need your help with our little food bank at MWCC. If you would like to help with this ministry here is a list of items that work well; cereal, canned soup, Kraft dinner, dried pasta, pasta sauce, granola bars, cans of beans, does not hurt to have some baby food on hand. Even to purchase a $5 food bank bag from the grocery store is helpful. Thank you to all that support our little ministry. We could also use some bus tickets.

WorshipSunday Worship Service ALL WELCOME: Join us for our Sunday Worship Service starting @ 10:30am. The first Sunday of each month, is our Communion Sunday Service. We have Fellowship @ 11:30am following Worship.

Looking for volunteersAn important part of our church is volunteering to help during our worship service for ushering, readers, children’s church, and fellowship time.

Christian EducationEdmonton Area Moravian Youth Group Fall – Winter, 2018(All Jr/Sr High Youth are invited! Friends welcome.)Our youth group is part of the Moravian tradition, and hosted by Rio Terrace Church. Group dates this month are November 11, & 25 please see attached calendar. The mission of the youth group is to build a supportive, loving community of young people, who grow in faith, love, and hope through contemplative practices, mission and justice projects, and fellowship.

Children’s ChurchWe will be continuing with our children’s program from last year, join us in learning the word of God through crafts, music, and games. Children’s Church dates for this month; Nov 11, 18, & 25.

Community Care & ConnectionPastor Aaron and Amy Linville have asked the board to organize some “Meet and Greet” opportunities to get to know the congregation. Five dates have been chosen before Christmas and more dates will be chosen after New Years. We ask you to sign up for a date in the binder or by calling Melanie in the office. We need a person to host the session (in your home or at church) for around 8 people; and someone to provide a snack. Host to provide the beverage. (Dates: Nov. 15, 18, 27, Dec. 3, 13)

MOMS Canada BinYou may have noticed the yellow bin located in the north parking lot. The Joint Board agreed to have the bin placed there to support MOMs Canada, which is a local faith-based charity that helps struggling single moms find independence. We encourage you to deposit your lightly worn clean clothing in this bin and they will be given a useful second life when recycled. The bin is maintained by Western Textiles and a portion of the proceeds from the clothing collection is used to

help MOMS Canada expand and grow.If you would like to learn more go to: momscanada.ca
