Housing benefits:The Company provides residential accommodation to both Senior and Junior staff.

Company has a total housing stock of 3,384 units Medical Benefits Company operates 170 bed modern hospital with eight (8) medical doctors including a specialist. External consulting specialists are also engaged.

Free medical care for employees, their spouses and six (6) children.

Medical care is extended to communities in and around Obuasi area, on Cash & carry basis.

RURAL ELECTRIFICATION PROJECTS

To date the company has procured over 3,000 treated teak poles and provided over 10,000 untreated poles from its Teak plantations to assist some 36 local communities in the Obuasi, Bekwai , New Edubiasi and Mansonkwanta districts in their Rural Electrification Projects at a cost of 600 million .  Five (5) transformers have been donated to Six (6) Communities in the Obuasi and Bekwai District to assist them in their Rural Electrification Projects at the cost of ¢ 100 million. Two Communities namely Sanso and Anyinam benefit from free electricity power from AGC/VRA mains at an average annual cost of About US$77,000.

Community Development ProjectsRoads and Bridges Rehabilitation

Many Old mining and Exploration routes, which now serve as feeder roads linking farming communities to major roads or markets centers are rehabilitated regularly using services of company equipment.

The Company assists in constructing and rehabilitating foot bridges over major rivers to link farmers to their farms and pupil’s to their schools.

Community water supply

To date the company has provided 95 water systems to a total of 82 Communities in three districts at the cost of US $980,000

: 70% of the number was provided as goodwill gestures; while the remaining

30% are restitutions for traditional sources of water impacted upon by our

operations.  : In extreme situations, the Company assists in the repair of some broken down water systems to restore water supply. : The benefits include less dependency on surface streams and less incidence of water borne diseases.

ALTERNATIVE LIVELIHOOD PROJECTS I• The Company has released a 2000 acres of arable land close to a water source for the President’s Special Initiative (PSI) project on cassava starch production.

To further demonstrate the Company’s commitment to the implementation of the PSI Project, the Company has released 14 units of its residential quarters at Watreso for the Technical staff that will manage the project.
