DAC is the prime source for DoD military preservation and packaging training. The goals of the preservation and packaging program are to provide trained personnel and supervisors to perform technical tasks associated with military packaging operations. Working in partnership with the Defense Packaging Policy Group (DPPG), DAC provides direct training support to the Military Packaging Professional (MPP) program. The DAC military packaging training program provides DoD packaging professionals with a wide array of function-specific training and developmental opportunities. The program's curriculum consists of two courses spanning the full scope of preservation and packaging processes. These courses allow students to work through multi-faceted preservation and packaging processes in simulated real world scenarios.

WHAT ARE THE MILITARY PRESERVATION AND

PACKAGING FOR STORAGE AND SHIPMENT COURSES?

The Military Preservation and Packaging for Storage and Shipment courses are designed to provide knowledge-based and hands-on, performance-based training for uniformed military, civil service, and DoD contractor personnel. Basic and intermediate military preservation, packaging, unitization, and ISO containerization procedures are presented as part of the course curriculum.

PACK-1A-DL and PACK-1B courses are designed to be taken in sequence. PACK-1A-DL is an interactive online course that provides in-depth, knowledge-based training in the application of military packaging policy criteria and packaging specifications and standards and serves as a prerequisite for PACK-1B.

PACK-1A-DL

The PACK-1B is an instructor-led course that provides in-depth, hands-on practical experience in applying military packaging policy criteria and packaging specifications and standards to real world scenarios.

PACK-1A-DL and PACK-1B courses focus on military packaging and preservation methods that include cleaning and drying processes, preservation materials and application, cushioning, unit and intermediate packing methods, military marking and labeling, outer packing procedures, palletized and unitized loads, containerization, and blocking and bracing.

SIGNIFICANCE OF MILITARY PACKAGING

As with any well thought out and planned packaging scheme, the science of military packaging for the United States Government developed from a well recognized logistical need. This science has evolved over the

course of its life to accommodate the many technology changes in how the military distributes its supplies. It remains a dynamic force that can either provide a positive or negative contribution to the success of military missions. DAC’s goal is to stimulate an understanding and appreciation of the importance of military packaging and to improve military packaging practices through an aggressive training program that positively affects life-cycle management and force sustainment efforts.
