The summer session offers instruction for a variety of skill levels―novice, recreational and even the competitive rower. The summer program is sweep rowing (where each rower uses one oar) in 8-person or 4-person boats. It offers a great opportunity for beginners to learn the sport, and for experienced rowers to get in or stay in shape. For first-timers who will be rowing together, the program will teach people everything they need to know from start to finish of the season. Some indoor rowing machine, or erg, work will be part of the program to help learn technique and form. For more information email [email protected] or call Middletown Recreation & Community Services at 860.638.4500. All NEW participants must pass a swim test or a provide a signed swim test wavier. Swim tests will be held Mon. evening June 4th at Woodrow Wilson Middle School pool OR you can download a swim waiver from the Middletown Recreation and Community Services website and have it signed by a certified lifeguard. Swim forms must be submitted before participants can go out on the water. Swim tests are valid for 5 years. All participants are also required to complete an emergency contact form. This form can be found on the Registration page. Please bring to your first session. Participation is not allowed until this completed form is handed into the head coach.
