Ambassador‘s Corner

I SHOOT WITH NIKON. Why Nikon? Nikon brings out the best in you whether you’re a beginner, a hobbyist or a pro. From the Nikon lenses to the optics of the camera,

Nikon has a tough construction which would battle all types of weather. Nikon shutters last better at high heat, high humidity, and lowest temperature. The Nikon lenses work better and longer in extreme conditions. In battle between lenses, canon needs to create an F1.2 in some of their lenses just to achieve the same quality as F1.4 Nikon is giving. I AM NIKON. The caption gives you that distinct personality. An edge and a sense of being a pro. A status that any other cameras can’t give. The first time I picked my camera, I knew Nikon was the perfect gear for me because, in my opinion, no offense meant, Canon is known for manufacturing photocopiers. In my own perspective, a person using a Nikon gives others an impression of him/her being a professional. So why Nikon? Well, I can‘t live in humiliation owning a camera without an edge. I AM NIKON.

CANON, as a brand is one of the widely recognized and respected in the world. Pioneering many of firsts in technology; inspiring everyone else

to follow.

CANON leads, inspires and encourages. Empowered with innovative products, they simplify complex tasks and awaken senses to explore one‘s creativity with every output crafted by a real PRO.

CANON embodies a vision of balance, perfection and beauty. I am a visionary, I am CANON. It’s a perfect choice for me.

Meet the shutter squad

FEATURED MAKEUP ARTISTS

She started this hobby when her husband joined MESS. At first, she thought that professional makeup artists were hired during Pitik Bulag’s (a MESS sub-group) photo shoots. She was amazed that they were beautifully done

by the wives of her husband’s co-photographers. With that, she began to have fascination for the craft and started watching Youtube makeup videos (particularly, Mischievous’ tutorials), reading blogs, and experimenting different makeup styles on her own up to the present. She considers her makeup style ranging from classic nude to deep dramatic smoky eye makeup techniques. However, she would love to explore more and try out different techniques depending on what the photographers require. She’s just enjoying learning and practicing for now. “I appreciate the compliments and when I read some comments that the makeup is good, that’s absolutely priceless! Doing this hobby with MESS, I am really confident that they give justice every time their cameras click. It’s really my pleasure to work with you guys. All the best and more shoots to come!”Joanne Castillo

Makeup Section

2 years ago, she joined the Middle East Shutter Squad (MESS) to cradle her enthusiasm for photography. Little did she know that her interest in taking photographs would lead her to turn tables and sharpen her

sense of aesthetics, “I initially wanted to learn photography as a hobby. After a series of glamour photo shoots with MESS and watching Michelle Phan on Youtube, I started buying makeup stuff and decided to have a go at it too.” Her style is simple yet glamorous enough to bring out the innate beauty of the models. She plays with bright hues and highlights the best features of the face to achieve a natural glow. Her passion to master her craft does not wane. She continues to invest in makeup kits and explore her multitude talent to accentuate not only the beauty of the models, but her skills as well.

A blast from the

past

Founded in April 2009, the group was formed by Filipino photography enthusiasts, Since then the Middle East Shutter Squad has been one of the sought after group of photographers in the Kingdom of Bahrain

from fashion and product photography to events coverage. The group is currently composed of almost 60 members and still growing.

Each member has an eye for beauty and perfection. This makes them come up with perfectly captured images. As their knowledge expands, workshop and seminars are being held in support for their budding photography enthusiasm. Middle East Shutter Squad does their photo shoots with joy and passion. The values of trust and honesty are important..

At every click of the camera, the creativity that runs through their minds never ceases. They experiment and learn together. They strongly believe that a photographer is not only limited by what he/she can imagine, which is actually endless. So they move forward and continue to strive for perfection.

The Dark Effect workshop was the first ever Photoshop workshop conducted by

the Middle East Shutter Squad. The activity was in collaboration with Photoshop gurus GFX69, Jay Arr, Glenn, Mitch, and Paul.

The workshop was indeed one of the most unforgettable and most successful in MESS history. The event was held at Bahrain Christian Fellowship, thanks to the support of Mr. Magnus and Mr. Art Dulay.

Manny Librodo w/ MESSters

Manuel Librodo Jr., or simply Manny is a teacher by profession but a photographer by heart. Fusing together these two, Manny, has been conducting portraiture workshops all over

the world, from Australia , Asia, Europe and the US for the past 4 years now. His workshops have been hailed as essentially hands-on and easy-to-follow. Thus, he has been in demand in this field. Named by Scott Kelby as one of the 2009 Five Best Photographers in 2009, Manny‘s works has been published all over the world but his contribution in UNICEF’s calendar of 2009 and 2010 are the most significant.

Azkals in BAHRAIN

More than five thousand Filipinos rallied behind the Philippine Azkals during their 2nd match with the Bahrain Under-23 Olympic Team at the Muharraq

Club Stadium last Monday. One of those who trooped to the stadium to cheer for the Philippine Azkals was Gerry Palad, an overseas Filipino worker and a member of Middle East Shutter Squad in Bahrain. “Ok naman. Masaya. Enjoyable naman. First time kong manood ng game, ng football pa!“ said Mr. Palad. Shutter Squad Shooters: Tyrone , Honey Earl, Dorwin, Gerald, Chris Martin, Orik, Jhun, Bryan, and ever glowing Grace.
