• Meetings are twice a year– Not on a fixed schedule, trying to work out
between other meetings• Increasing in participants and also involved in
other activities like IPv6 Roadshow
Before MENOG
• RIPE NCC Regional Meetings– Hosted in Dubai, Qatar and Bahrain
• RIPE NCC regional Meeting Bahrain was the instigator– 14-15 November 2006, Bahrain– Agreement to start hosting MENOGs in the region– The Regional Meetings will continue to be part of
MENOG– Strong support from the RIPE NCC

• MENOG 1 : 2-5 April 2007, Bahrain• MENOG 2: 19 – 21 Nov 2007, Doha, Qatar• MENOG 3: 15 - 17 April 2008, Kuwait• RIPE Dubai : 26-30 October, Dubai, UAE• MENOG 4: 5-9 April 2009, Bahrain
MENOGs
• MENOG 5: 25-29 October 2009, Beirut, Lebanon– Started to do hands-on workshops• IPv6 and Security• 180 Attendees from 29 countries
• MENOG 6 : 10 – 14 April 2010, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia– Two workshops again– 140 Attendees from 19 countries
MENOGs
• MENOG 7: 21 – 29 October 2010, Istanbul , Turkey– In Europe ? But very strong local interest to host. – Initiated the TRNOG during the MENOG.
• MENOG 8: 15-23 May, 2011, Damascus, Syria– Current situation in ME being monitored– May have to move meeting
IPv6 roadshow
• Collaboration with the RIPE NCC to do a series of IPv6 workshops in the region– The instructors are from the MENOG pool– It’ll help to promote MENOG events and also IPv6– Planning stages
RIPE NCC support
• The secretariat is currently hosted by the RIPE NCC– Postal address in Saudi Arabia– Easier operationally
• MENOG also serves as the RIPE NCC regional meeting
• Strong support from the RIPE Board for this activity
