MAWA CELEBRATES 50TH ANNIVERSARY With the coming of 2017 the Middle Atlantic Wrestling Association will begin the 50th year of competi-
tion. Over those years the MAWA has expanded from four districts in 1967 within Pennsylvania to 35 districts in eight states along with four regionals and an Eastern National Championship. At this year’s Eastern Nationals there will be a special celebration with the opening ceremonies, a banquet on Saturday night May 6, special awards for the top eight place winners, an honored guest and a special t-shirt awarded to the champion in each weight class.
With 35 district tournaments spread out over six weekends there are ample opportunities to qualify for a regional tournament. You may enter any district tournament until you qualify for a regional by placing in the top three. The regionals are on four different weekends in April for flexibility. Remember you must wrestle in the regional in which your district is located. New this year there is a one pound weight allowance at the regional level and an additional pound at the Eastern National.
