The Frankfort Area Chamber and Frankfort Impact Committee are excited about the kick-off of the first Teacher’s Academy in our commu-nity. The emphasis dur-ing the site visits will be on skills applications in today’s workplace. The
goals of the Teacher’s Academy are:
* To increase awareness among educators of ca-reer opportunities and required skills of jobs in local businesses and industries;
* To provide educators with “real world” exam-ples of the application of academic content and soft skills taught in the schools; and To expand collaborative relationships among school systems and the business community.

Chamber Launches Frankfort Impact
Education Program
In November 2017, the Frankfort Area Chamber of Commerce, Frankfort First Foundation, the Franklin County Schools, Frankfort Independent Schools, and local busi-ness partners kicked off the Frankfort Impact Ini-tiative with a pilot pro-ject through the Flex Program at Franklin
County Career and Tech Center. As business leaders, it is important that our com-munity assist our educa-tion partners in Frank-fort and Franklin County to adapt to the changing needs of our industries. Frankfort Impact stands for "Inspire to Motivate Positive Attitude and Create Talent," and is aimed at helping raise student career aware-ness of positions being
offered in our commu-nity and provides a clear path for their career de-velopment. Frankfort Impact also assists in providing leadership skills; training students to apply skills such as being proactive, re-sourceful, and profes-sional accountability to their toolkits for success and create a pipeline of well-trained talent to support our businesses and grow our economy.

Frankfort Kentucky embodies the essence of everything that makes Kentucky
special, from her natural charm and beauty to her world-renowned bourbon,
all in one distinctly small and spirited package. Frankfort is Kentucky Distilled.
Impact from page 1
Frankfort Impact has many components built into the program to offer a more defined career shadowing program, educator extern-ships, and employability skills training as a way to inspire students and pro-vide valuable learning op-portunities that engage their personal interest and
career goals. Our program also looks to pro-vide an avenue for business and education leaders to build partnerships and work to-gether to improve employment outcomes for our community.
The Teacher's Academy provides a unique op-
portunity for our educators to “engage and in-
teract with business professionals in a work-
place environment." Our business profession-
als, from various fields and background, will
present an overview of positions, skills, and
education needed to advance in their field of
expertise. The emphasis during the site visits
will be on skills applications in today’s work-
place.
"Keeping students engaged in school at a critical juncture help pro-pel them forward to a successful career", said Frankfort Impact Co-Chair John Senter with Community Trust Bank and Board Chair-elect for the Frankfort Area Chamber of Commerce.
Another goal of the Teacher's Academy is to connect businesses in the classroom to show the importance of setting goals and developing a plan to achieve those goals. Also, exposing students to the work environment that they may be unfamiliar with or may not have access to otherwise.
Frankfort Impact doesn't stop here, our com-munity partners are working behind the scenes preparing for the Frankfort Impact Launch (Learning About Unique and New Careers Here) Experience in the fall of 2019. Our Launch Ex-perience will take our program to the next level of engagement. During the Launch Experience, students will explore various careers available in our area through interactive exhibits set up by local businesses. This experience is a great opportunity for students to take the first steps in planning for their future and for busi-ness to engage students in learning about their industry. The Career Sectors that stu-dents will be visiting are: Construction; Healthcare; Hospitality; Manufacturing; Pro-fessional & Public Services; Transportation, Distribution, and Logistics. To learn more about the Frankfort Impact Initiative or get involved, please contact Carmen Inman at the Frankfort Area Chamber 502-223-8261.

Chair-elect for the
Frankfort Area Chamber
Greetings Fellow Chamber Members
Frankfort is moving forward in a positive direction, and your Chamber staff and Board of Directors are at the forefront of the action! Our strategy is one of specific partnerships with key stakeholders to pro-duce results that will benefit Frankfort and Franklin county for generations to come. Since the beginning of the year, we have made great progress in our education ini-tiatives with the goal of creating a more viable workforce for our area employers and manufacturers. Chair-elect John Senter and President Carmen Inman have worked tirelessly to reach out to our edu-cators and students, completing our pilot program at Franklin County High School and preparing for expansion of the pro-gram in the fall. Our first Teacher’s Acad-emy will launch in July, where we connect the teachers in the school system with lo-cal employers to help identify career op-portunities for students. This experience will translate into curriculum that prepares our students for local employment upon graduation from high school, technical school or college. Running parallel to our education initia-tives, we have been working with our part-ners at the city, the county, economic de-velopment, the financial and education communities and elected officials to at-tract state and federal investment to our community. Last fall, this delegation went to Washington, DC with the goal of getting the TIGER Grant pushed through for the Second Street Corridor. This success brought $8 million in federal dollars to Frankfort. Building on that grant award, we visited DC again last month. Over 36 hours, we met with a variety of agencies to pursue investment in economic devel-opment, a master arts plan, public and school safety, education and outdoor rec-reation.
It was exhausting and exhilarating to par-ticipate in this process that will tangibly aid our renaissance in Frankfort and Franklin County. I encourage you to become involved in this process. To that end, your Chamber is planning two trips as we head into the fall. We are planning a visioning trip to Little Rock, AR. They have reinvented their city with the help of state and fed-eral investment, and we have been en-couraged to visit them to study how they achieved success. If you are interested in long term planning and visioning for Frankfort and Franklin County, this is the trip for you. The other trip will be a Washington DC Fly In. We will be putting together a delega-tion of 25-30 individuals that represent a cross section of the community, with the intention of presenting a unified voice for investment. We will be courting the sup-port and favor of our elected officials on The Hill to help us push our agenda through the various agencies. If you want to represent a sector of our community and be part of this show of force for pro-gress, you should consider joining this group. So if you’re ready to step up for education or community development, contact the Chamber for more information and watch for more information about all our initia-tives in future newsletters and email blasts. Decades from now, you will be able to look back with pride on the work achieved by all of us, as we enjoy a pros-perous, healthy and vibrant community. To learn more about Frankfort Impact or other Chamber programs, please contact Carmen Inman, President/CEO at the Chamber office 502-223-8261 or email to [email protected]

We were just minding our own business when the call came in from Kentucky. Communities that we cared about were cry-ing out for good quality Radio. The Radio that they loved had slowly been replaced with pro-gramming and disc jockeys shot in from a satellite, the same songs over and over, and a lack of engaging local con-tent. Listeners deserve more.
We have the passion and the know how to make a differ-ence. We’re starting with only a handful of stations; selecting the music locally and recon-necting with the commu-nity. And so we continue to grow and take this tradition to small communities throughout Kentucky.
We have an emerging group of
3 handcrafted radio stations
and a team of creative people
that are driven to make the
type of local content that our
communities crave. We con-
nect with our listeners, on-air,
on-site, and online.
Frankfort Area Chamber Host Annual Dinner
Noting the party’s “Roaring Twenties” theme, 2018 Chamber Chair Kristin Cantrell said the Chamber wants to “roar in the 2020s, not just the 1920s.” That, she told The State Journal, will require more civic engagement from all — something that has the added benefit of lead-ing to happier populaces, she said.
The Chamber will continue it’s focus on their Education and “Kentucky Distilled” branding initiatives in 2018, as well as aiding in small-business development and manufacturer pro-grams. The Annual Dinner was held this year at the Thomas D. Clark Center for Kentucky History, saw record turnout of 280 people, according to Chamber President and CEO Carmen Inman. “Growing Chamber and community engage-ment is key to moving Frankfort and Franklin County forward and the Frankfort Area Cham-ber Board of Directors and staff are dedicated to building a vibrant economy through mem-ber driven advocacy & community leadership” Inman stated.

Giving Back to the Community Leaders in Action
A Big Shout Out to our Playground Partners from Lowe's and Jim Beam Brands (Beam Suntory). Our partners stepped up and completed a great project for our local Frankfort Area Chamber community member. These Gals and Guys ROCK!!
The Frankfort Area Chamber Board of Directors and staff are so appreciative of their generous donations, time, talent and energy they placed into our community project.
