MASTER IN CRIMINOLOGY Jenny B Patanao Pederito Apuyo, Jr Student Instructor 1. Victimology is the study of victims of crimes and contributory role, if any, in crime causation. Victimology is the study of victimization, including the relationships between victims and offenders, the interactions between victims and the criminal justice system that is, the police and courts, and corrections officials and the connections between victims and other social groups and institutions, such as the media, businesses, and social movements. Victimology is however not restricted to the study of victims of crime alone but may include other forms of human rights violations. 2. Crime victim advocacy is the institutions built to help crime victims to move on and face the chapter of their life. The crime victim advocacy is important because they listens to the victim of crime, provide confidential services, provide crisis counseling, emotional support and guidance, inform the victims of their rights, explains to them how the court process works and find information for the crime victim about what is happening in their case. 3. The role of Criminal Justice System towards the victim in particular and community in general The different pillars of Criminal Justice System has a different role and all these pillars must perform and deliver their respective job par excellence in the realization of justice. Failure on the part of the pillars to function well, will lead us into chaos and other forms of unrest in the community especially to the victim of crime. 4. The ideal victim as a person or category of individuals who when hit by crime most readily are given the complete and legitimate status of being a victim. This group includes those who are perceived as vulnerable, defenseless, innocent and worthy of sympathy and compassion. 5. victimization, relates to further victimization following on from the original victimization while re-victimization refers to pattern wherein the victim of abuse and or crime has a statistically higher tendency to be victimized again, either shortly thereafter or much later in adulthood in the case if abuse as a child.

6. Conventional crimes are those traditional, illegal behaviors that most people think of as crime. Most crime is conventional crime.
