3. What challenges (if any) have you encountered in conducting these tasks mentioned in the project proposal? How were they addressed?

Answer:

Major challenge has been children dropping out of school in middle of the session. Since most of the children‘s parent are migratory labor, they move to different places to earn their livelihood. Though this challenge cannot be totally overcome, Sankalp has adopted innovative ways of tackling the problem. Teachers and volunteers always motivate children to come to school on a regular basis. To emphasize the importance of attending school regularly children with highest attendance are rewarded in school. A strong message is given to children that coming to school regularly is very important. To motivate kids to come to school by denying privileges such as that of not interacting with volunteer or not receiving gift items helps them to be regular. We always strive to provide constant encouragement to kids to regularly come to school and get literate.

Teachers will regularly advise children on adopting hygienic lifestyle and instill healthy habits in children.

Discipline: Discipline is another aspect that Sankalp will focus on in next six months. Class monitors have been appointed in each classroom to maintain discipline and decorum in the class. Good behavior by the students will be appreciated and recognized by the teachers in the class.
