What you need to know…..

The Iowa Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) is a team-based youth development program that uses the clay target sports of trap, skeet, and sporting clays to instill life skills such as discipline, safety, teamwork, ethics, mental focus, self-discipline, and self-confidence in Iowa's youth. The program uses these shooting disciplines to teach hunting skills through the safe use of hunting equipment including firearms and their relationship to hunting situations.

The Des Moines Clay Crushers is a co-ed team made of kids from 5 th to 12th Grade. This is a club-based team. Local kids from over 20 different schools participate on the team.

Coaches – Coaches are all volunteer. If you are interested in becoming a coach, please see Laura. We can never have too many coaches!!

Sponsorships are still available for the 2018/2019 Season

1 Version 2018.1

Practices – 5:15 check in at the clubhouse, 5:30 start. Monday – Skeet. Tuesday – Trap. Thursday – Sporting Clays. Newer shooters will start with trap at each practice and progress to skeet and SC when ready. Come prepared to shoot 200 rounds (Max) for each practice. You must check out of practice in the clubhouse before you leave to get your card punched.

Equipment needed – Gun, eye protection, ear protection, vest or pouch. Suggested to have an ammo bag. Warm clothes for practices and shoots!!! NPGC is always windy and 10 degrees colder than the rest of the DSM area.

Volunteers – Each family will need to participate to make the season a success. Volunteer communications will come out for various events. Please be ready to help when requested.

Team App – TeamSnap is the app that we will use for the 2018 season. All communication will go through that app. Very important that your child be set up as the primary user if they have their own phone. Parents can be set up as additional users within your child’s profile. This app will have availability for each practice and each event. It will also have volunteer events too.

Facebook – you will need to request to join the group. Des Moines Clay Crushers

Home Events – DMCC will host multiple events throughout the season. Each kid will be put onto a squad before the event. Critical that you communicate if you plan on attending or not attending through the app.

Away Events – The kids will have the opportunity to go to away events as they like (and families will need to pay for this on their own). Away events are a great way to get more shooting time in on the weekends.

Uniforms – Team uniforms are requested for state events. Team uniform orders will be posted on the app. Uniform orders will be placed once for the season. Please watch the dates for orders. Any of the past uniforms are acceptable to wear.

Team Registration – As a multi discipline team, we belong to multiple associations. Team registration covers association fees, entry fees for events, and team fees. Team registration is $350 per child. The actual cost of the team is actually subsidized by our foundation with an annual subsidy. The team reserves the right to request more funding if needed to complete the season.

Registration Forms – all forms are posted in the app under the multimedia file. All forms must be completed before the first practice.

Ammo – You are responsible for your own ammo for practice and all events. The team may do a group purchase to help off set the cost. Watch the App for any updates.

Guns – Nothing larger than a 12 gauge is allowed. Any gun questions, please see one of the coaches.

Practice Round Card – Round cards are necessary for practicing. This pays for the clays used while in season. Out of season, non-member prices for rounds apply. See website for non-member off season rates. Pricing is listed below for Club member and Youth – Non-Club Member before tax.

Discipline Non-NPGC Member YOUTH Member of NPGC Rates Trap and Skeet Card 25 punch $155 $128 Sporting Clays Card 25 punch* $205 $175
