The Chattanooga Community has served as a host city to fourteen ASA/USAJ.O. National Championships and we believe that you will find our staff qualified and able to assist you. Our facilities are the best in the country with a true fast pitch complex at Warner Park and a beautiful new eight field complex at the Summit of Softball.

Four local organizations including the City of Chattanooga Youth and Family Development, Hamilton County, the Greater Chattanooga Sports Committee and Tennessee ASA/USA Junior Olympic Committee work together to bring you this prestigious event.

CHAMPIONSHIPSTournament Entry Form This form must be completed and returned to the tournament director, along with the entry fee of $550.00 (made payable to Tennessee USA Softball). This form MUST be signed by your local Commissioner or J.O. Commissioner. The deadline for this form and entry fee to be received is July 19.

Official ASA/USA Championship Roster Please complete and mail this form to the tournament director. This form MUST be signed by your State Commissioner or his/her designee. The deadline for this form to be received is July 19. If you cannot mail the original roster before the deadline, please hand carry the original roster and submit a copy via E‐mail attachment to the tournament director by July 19. The original MUST be received at check‐in prior to playing pool play.

Team Picture We will be acknowledging all teams in the tournament program. Please email a team picture with your team name and home town to in JPEG format. Team pictures need to be received no later than July 17th. Photos received after this date cannot be guaranteed to be included in the program.

All teams should check in together accompanied by the manager(s). Player picture identification is required. All players will sign in on the Tournament Signature Form and all coaches will show proof of background check/ACE certification as required per USA Softball.


CHAMPIONSHIPSTeam Check In Procedures

All players must be present along with team manager(s) (Individual late player check in will begin July 31 at both parks)

Players are to lineup in the order as they are listed on the team’s Official USA Softball Championship Roster.

Pick‐up players will be processed after regular roster players. A player pick‐up form is required and it must be signed by your local USA Softball Commissioner

All players will be required to complete the Official USA Softball Tournament Signature Form. If you choose to pre‐print or type the player’s names in and bring a copy with you, DO NOT HAVE PLAYERS PRE‐SIGN the form. Forms signed in advance cannot be accepted and you will have to start over.

If a team has submitted a copy of their official roster then they must produce the original USA Softball Official Championship Roster at team check in in order to be eligible for tournament pool play

All pre‐purchased items (manager’s meeting tickets, tournament passes, team social tickets) as well as players/coach passes will be distributed to the team manager at check in

At least one coach must produce proof that they are ACE certified at team check in.

ALL coaches and personnel on the field and/or in the dugout during play must produce proof that they have a background check cleared through USA Softball on www.registerasa.com. This must be submitted at team check in.

This is a mandatory meeting for at least one manager per team. One manager is admitted free per team. Other managers may attend the luncheon but must purchase a ticket in advance (order form enclosed). The charge for additional lunch ticket is $20.00 per person and advance order form must be received by July 21st.

Trading The team social will take place on Sunday, July 30 from 4:00 -5:00 PM at UTC McKenzie Arena.

Opening Ceremonies The opening ceremonies will take place on Sunday, July 30th at 5 PM at UTC McKenzie Arena,

Chattanooga, TN 37402. All teams are requested to participate and be dressed in matching or coordinated attire, but this does not have to be their uniforms. Please feel free to bring state, city, and

team banners or flags. All teams will called by name.

Merchandise Merchandise will be on sale for pre‐tournament purchases, at Team Check‐in, Opening

Ceremonies, and throughout the tournament at each field location. Spectator Sports is the merchandise vendor. Pretournament sales can be made using the pre‐order flyer on the tournament website.

Gift Exchanges The traditional gift exchange for teams will take place after the first pool play game of the

tournament for each team. In the event that there are 3 team pools, the exchange will take place between all 3 teams in that pool immediately following the first game of that pool (the third team in the pool will play on the same field immediately following the first game).

2017 ASA/USA 14U FASTPITCH NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

Weather In the event the tournament cannot be completed within the scheduled time frame, the procedures found in ASA Code Article 510 H. 02 will be used to determine the official order of finish. Games postponed in the event of inclement weather will be made up as determined by the tournament director.

It is the responsibility of the team manager to obtain inclement weather information. This information will be posted on www.tournamentasa.com. You may also visit one of the parks for rescheduling information.

Practice Fields Field reservations for team practices will be scheduled by calling (423)488‐8640 [email protected] (Corey Swafford) starting June 15. Each scheduled practice will be for 1 hour 30 minutes. There will be NO practice time during the Opening Ceremonies.

Tournament Format Two pool play games followed by double elimination. Pool play will be held on Monday, July 31 and Tuesday, August 1, with each team playing one game per day. Double elimination bracket play will begin on Wednesday, August 2nd with the championship games taking place on Sunday, Aug 6th.

Tournament Draw Pool Play draw will be completed pre‐ tournament per Article 511 of the ASA Code. Pool Play drawing will be held on Wednesday, July 21 at 31 East 11th Street, Chattanooga at 5pm and will be made available online at www.tournamentasa.com on July 21 and paper copies will be distributed at check in.

Bracket draw will be held on Tuesday, August 1st at Warner Park, Frost Stadium as play is completed in each pool. More information regarding the bracket draw will be distributed at the Manager’s Meeting.

Game Times Follow the times listed on the official tournament bracket posted at each field. Teams should be prepared to play ½ hour prior to game time. Teams not present at game time may be considered a forfeit.

ASA Rules and Regulations All playing rules and regulations will be governed by the 2014 ASA Official Guide and Rule Book.

Run Rule A run rule of fifteen after three, twelve after four innings, or eight after five full innings will apply (ASA Rule 5, Section 9). In pool play, no inning shall start after 1 hour and 40 minutes (ASA Rule 5, Section 10).


CHAMPIONSHIPSProtests

The Tournament Committee will decide all protests. As manager, please be familiar with the rules of the game, including proper protest procedures.

Uniforms Players on a team shall properly wear uniforms that are alike in color, trim and style (ASA Official Playing Rules, Rule 3 Section 6 and 7).Coaches must be neatly attired, dressed alike or in a team uniform, and in accordance with the color code of the team.

AwardsAwards will be given in accordance with ASA Code Article 606 B. 02

Dugouts The team at the top of the bracket will use the first base dugout. The team at the bottom of the bracket will use the third base dugout. If a team plays “back to back” games they can stay in the dugout.

Home Team A coin toss prior to the start of each game shall determine the home team. This will be handled by the site directors at each park one hour prior to the game.

Line ‐ ups Tournament officials will provide the line‐up cards for each team. An official card must be submitted to the official scorekeepers 30 minutes prior to game time.

Trainers Athletic trainers will be provided on site at Warner and Summit Parks throughout the tournament.

Concessions Concessions will be available at all complexes and will run from start to finish. We request that no outside food or coolers (other than team cooler) be brought into the complex. There are picnic areas at Warner Park right outside the main complex. Teams are requested to leave areas clean and free from trash.
