4

Is School Agreement Right for You?

Are you looking for a simple and flexible licensing agreement?

Are you looking for a complete solution to software compliancy?

Are you interested in receiving product upgrades at no additional cost?

Do you like the idea of one annual payment?

Do you want support resources, tools, and training for no extra charge?

5

How Does it Work?

Simply follow these 4 steps:

1. Locate an Authorized Education Reseller

2. Complete a Campus and School Agreement

3. Complete a Subscription Enrollment

4. Order your software

6

Step 1: Locate an AER

Find an Authorized Education Reseller (AER) in your area at:

www.microsoft.com/education/AERFind.mspx

7

Step 2: Complete a Campus and School Agreement

The Campus and School Agreement:

• States general terms and conditions for software use

• Contains no expiration date

• Can be obtained and submitted via your AER

8

Step 3: Complete a Subscription Enrollment

Use the Subscription Enrollment to:

• Choose your licensed period (one or three years)

• Specify your eligible PC count

• Elect the Student Option

Submit completed enrollment to your AER

9

Step 3: Complete a Subscription Enrollment

One-year subscription

• One year of temporary licenses

• Renew annually by submitting an extension order

Choosing the Licensed Period

10

Step 3: Complete a Subscription Enrollment

Three-year subscription

• Three years of temporary licenses

• License at least same number of eligible PCs as Year 1

• Pricing from Microsoft to Distributor set at Year 1*

• Submit anniversary orders for Year 2 and Year 3

– Include additional PCs as applicable

– Can add products at then-current price

*Actual end customer pricing is determined by the AER. Microsoft cannot guarantee end customer pricing.

Choosing the Licensed Period (cont’d)

Step 2: Complete a Subscription Enrollment

Counting Eligible PCs

• Must include all Pentium II, iMac G3, or equivalent or better + any other computers on which the software will be run

• Example: School with 200 Pentium II PCs, 300 Pentium III PCs, 200 iMac G3s, and 400 older machines

700 (100% of allPentium II, iMac G3equivalent or better)

Step 4: Order Your Software

• Select from any available application, system, server, and CAL products • Refer to the Microsoft Volume Licensing Product List for up-to-date offerings:

www.microsoft.com/licensing/userights/

• School Agreement Desktop Packages - If you prefer to license your computers and users for a standard set of desktop products, Microsoft provides the following “Desktop” packages, which offer a discounted price over the cost of licensing the products individually.

• The School Desktop package includes:• Windows Vista™ Enterprise Upgrade• Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007 and Microsoft Office for Mac 2004 Professional Edition• Microsoft Core CAL Suite

• The School Desktop with Enterprise CAL includes:• Windows Vista Enterprise Upgrade• Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007 and Microsoft Office for Mac 2004 Professional Edition• Microsoft Enterprise CAL Suite

• As with all products licensed through your School Agreement, you have the option of deploying downgrade versions (previous versions) in place of the current licensed version. For instance, you may choose to deploy Microsoft Windows® XP Professional instead of Windows Vista Enterprise.

13

Minimum is 300 units

Calculating total units

• Multiply number of application, system, and CAL products selected by your eligible PC count

• Multiply unit value of server products by number ordered

– Unit values listed on Volume Licensing Product List

– Access Product List at www.microsoft.com/licensing/userights/
