Heres how we think about the business today and in the future. Our unique view represents what we believe are the right focus areas are going forward.

We think about Microsofts business in two ways software to services and devices. In 5 years or so, we likely wont even think of ourselves as "in the software business."

Let me be clear, we will build software for sure - we believe its the greatest capability for a company to have. But we will think of ourselves as delivering the value of that software through services and devices.

KEY POINT: This doesnt mean were going to manufacture every device, but we will play a key role in end to end design with our hardware partners around the world.

Software to Services:If you look at our services, they are delivered in two ways to the enterprise and to the consumer.On the enterprise side there is:Dynamics - we acquired Dynamics about 10 years ago during that period they grew at a 20% CAGR thats compared to 5% in their industry. And Dynamics ERP and CRM applications are transitioning to the Cloud as a service. CRM launched WW as a cloud service in 2011 and ERP will move to the cloud 2012. Windows Server & Windows Azure - We are in the services business of providing platforms for enterprises and developers to build applications on. This model gives business the choices they want with easy scale. Our work in this area includes Windows Server, SQL Server, Systems Center and the Windows Azure Platform. Active Directory/Enterprise Access We are also in the business of helping enterprises manage access to enterprise data and systems. We provide a lot of focus and help to our corporate customers so they can secure and manage access to corporate systems. Something our competitors in the consumer space dont think about. Office really spans both enterprise and consumer. This past June we made a significant step forward with Office 365 cloud service its where Office meets the cloud. With Office 365, businesses of all sizes can simply pay a monthly subscription at a price they can predict and afford, or they can connect Office software that they own already with the Office 365 service. Their choice. On the consumer side:Skype - We expect deal approval in calendar year 2011. Skype is very consistent with Microsofts core business of helping people communicate and collaborate. With Skype we will bring together hundreds of millions if not billions of consumers and empower them to communicate and create in new ways. Were also excited about the other live consumer services from Microsoft like Xbox Live and Windows Live. Bing We continue to see strong growth in the U.S. as of June we are up to 14.4% query share in the US, 26.6% with Yahoo! We think about how Bing will continue to emerge as a consumer service that helps people complete tasks and get stuff done instead of just find information. This is a key reason we have partnered with Facebook now people can see what their friends have liked when searching on Bing. Very helpful when doing things like finding a restaurant or movie.

Devices:We think about how all of these services will light up all of the devices people care about.Across all devices, well have IE, Bing and Live services.Today, we are already in the device business some we build like Xbox, and others we have a core role in design. Phone is a great example where we designed the software and provided specific guidance to Phone manufactures on the device specs. Participating in the device design enables us to create the most best experiences for people using the device as software and hardware are fully integrated. Also, in the US we are starting to sell all types of devices directly to consumers through our retail stores. We will continue to work with partners for both Phone and PC to bring compelling and new devices to market that run Microsoft software.

Microsoft Dynamics GP 12 ProductivityNamed System Database Multi-tenant Applications Sub Ledger Reconcile BR to GL checkbook balance and GL account (Cash Account) dont match. Gives you possible reasons why these would not change. Batch not posted, GL Entry Voided, Batch sitting is Batch, etc. Look at the RM/PM. Adding checkbook as a field so you can compare the checkbook ID to the Cash Account in GL. Matches on transaction source, date, and amount. Matched transaction, unmatched transactions, and potentially matched transactions. Also adding drill back to the document and journal entry. Also can save the output file and date it was run so you dont need to run the reconcile again. Incorporated into the other 3 as well.Fixed Assets GL Posting Enhancements can create batches of fixed assets transaction. Can review what is going to post to GL before it is posted. Can build the batch, insert restrictions (today you put in a date range and it pulls everything, can now pick dates, transaction type ((depreciation, transfer, retire, addition) review it, make changes, and post. Can post in detail vs. post in summary like today. Today it is summarized per account (one distribution per account) and going forward each distribution would equate to a distribution in GL.Mass Depreciation Reversal depreciate 1,000 assets through the end of the year by mistake you had to back out each of the 1,000 assets where new feature allows you to do all of the them.BAI format for PM and RM EFT (Bank Administration Institute) Users can setup electronic reconcile files with bank. Is this a U.S. Standard only or International? The format that bank uses to send you a file information about all the bank transactions. Setup in Electronic Reconcile (configurator). Imports the file and matches/reconciles the checkbook to the bank statement.Tolerance handling eliminate user error on overage (1% on 1,000) cant enter 10,000. Under it cancels out the amount under % and cancels the rest. Drop Ship for Serial/Lots track serial/lot numbers from vendors. Pops the window on drop ship items just like the regular PO and uses the (on the match invoice window). If you have the SOP invoice linked to the PO then the Serial/Lot will come across.

Before you had to post and apply in apply documents (2 step process now is 1)Void of Check Return Applied Credits (return/credit memo) to reusable state Invoice ($100) and I pay $50 or have a credit memo for $50, If I void the check, the $50 credit memo is still applied and cannot remove it from the invoice or use the credit memo and apply it to something else I would need to void the CM and create a new CM. New process allows you to void the check and the return and/or credit memo return to an unapplied state. With credit cards the new invoice we created for the credit card company, we auto void the credit card invoice as well.FA Historical Depreciation Reports Could not go back and do historical. Right now it just picks everything from the table where now you can pick a date. Document Attach GL Year End Close Options clear out balance for unit accounts. Right now it automatically carries the balances forward. Added a progress bar to the window. Option to NOT delete budget account with balances.
