Overview

• Build an autonomous mouse– Applying principles learned in class

• Circuit analysis• Digital design• Programming• Physics

– To construct an intelligent mouse• Navigate• Track• Find the center

The Approach

• We will apply 3 phases:– Concept and design

• Designing components to work efficiently together • Creating a chassis to fit our design

– Building and prototyping• Deciding upon the best component placement• Navigation testing

– Programming and testing• Implement the code• Debugging (hardware as well as software)

Potential Problems

• Personal conflicts– Design disagreements, differences in opinion, unequal

participation• Time management issues

– Differing schedules– Challenging classes (EE211 & 213)

• Accidents– Component failures caused by human error– Equipment failures

• Programming and design hurdles– It’s haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaard, remember 160?– Challenges in component placement

Tentative Learning Objectives

• Practical programming practice

• Working as a team of would-be engineers

• Circuit as well as digital design is applied to a goal

• Documenting our design and implementation challenges

What will really happen is..

• We will design, at the least, a presentable product

• We will design a mouse that is functioning– Moves accurately and quickly– Tracks its movements– Finds the center
