He had a full proshop andan outing was getting ready to take on this great Jerry Matthew's coursehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qxuMfR0vN3o. If there was a category for great clubhouses inMichigan, this would be in the Top 10. Buck's Run has a very special view. =========================================================93RD PGA CHAMPIONSHIP: FASHION: By Ashley Crain of GolfWeek=========================================================A look at fashion on the course at Atlanta Athletic Club.

While we continue to yearn for Tiger’s Sunday red to return, we had the chance to savor 2011 PGAChampion Keegan Bradley in his own version of Oakley’s Sunday red - belt included!

Bradley strutted those playoff holes in bold style Sunday at the Atlanta Athletic Country Club. He is thesecond Oakley golf professional to win a major championship this season - joining Rory McIlroy’s winat the U.S. Open in June.

It sure was nice to see the Sunday red come back to our TV sets but there are a few fashion faux pasthat I have been dying to make note of this season - faux pas that are in desperate need of attention.

1. The White BeltThere has got to be an end to this white belt fad. It is truly no longer “in” to wear this color of leather.

P. 9A U G U G T 1 9, 2 0 1 1 - M I C H I G A N G O L F E R N E W S

P. 10 M I C H I G A N G O L F E R N E W S - A U G U G T 1 9, 2 0 1 1

Let’s just say that the white belt was cool in the Jesper Parnevik era of the 1990s. Sure, there are a fewguys that can still pull it off with a decent outfit, but it just dumbs down any sleek look.

For example: Jason Dufner, who had on the greatest pink Peter Millar polo and the perfect grey trousersto accompany it. Then there was the unfortunate white belt looped into the equation… the perfect outfitwas no longer perfect anymore.

Adam Scott somehow (well, I’m pretty sure I know how) seemed to make the white belt work lastweekend but he still could have looked a lot smarter in a black one.

2. The Top ButtonPlease, can I ask all men on the PGA Tour - ahem, Phil Mickelson - to undo the top button on theirpolos. Mickelson has the greatest look going these days and that top button just completely upsetseverything he is doing to look fairway fashionable.

3. VisorsThere really isn’t much to say about this subject. Visors speak for themselves and should absolutely notbe worn by PGA Tour players under the age of 50. Sorry, but the Champions Tour guys are the onlyones that can pull these babies off.

Those are just a few pointers to help these boys match those beautiful golf swings with their wardrobes.Hope this helps!http://www.golfweek.com/news/2011/aug/15/fashion-blog-bradley-continues-tradition-sunday-re/

==========================================================JEPPESEN WINS GAM CHAMPIONSHIP" By Susan Smiley of the GAM==========================================================Marty Jeppesen of Ypsilanti has played in GAM tournaments since he was a junior golfer. He finallygot his reward today when he captured the 90th GAM Championship at Barton Hills Country Club.Jeppesen’s play was steady as he logged scores of 72-68-72 for a 212 total.

“It couldn’t be any better winning a major amateur tournament with your own association in your ownstate,” said Jeppesen. “I’m turning pro this fall so it is nice to go out with a win in the last event as anamateur.”

Jeppesen, 23, played for Eastern Michigan University and has a solid streak going at Barton Hills. Healso won a Power Bilt event and a Michigan PGA one-day event there.

“We played there a lot when I was at EMU and I won two other tournaments there so I am 3-0 atBarton,” said Jeppesen.

Jeppesen said he would not have logged such a good final round had it not been for his short game. Hisdrives were not what they had been in the first two rounds, but he made some long putts and wasprecise with his chips which helped him maintain the lead.

“I struggled with my ball striking, but my chipping and putting was pretty good,” said Jeppesen. “I gotup and down and I shot even par so it ended up working out.”

P. 12 M I C H I G A N G O L F E R N E W S - A U G U G T 1 9, 2 0 1 1

Jeppesen is a fan of Donald Ross courses with their large undulating greens and traditional fairways. He feelsright at home whenever he plays a Ross course because their style and design fit his golf game very well.

“Donald Ross makes really nice, old-style, tree-lined courses with the tough greens and I really enjoyplaying them,” said Jeppesen. “And I have to say that (GAM Tournament Director) Ken (Hartmann)really made some interesting pin placements today. It was very challenging and fun to play.”

****The Friars open a shopThese friars were behind on their belfry payments, so they opened up a small florist shop to raise funds.Since everyone liked to buy flowers from the men of God, a rival florist across town thought thecompetition was unfair. He asked the good fathers to close down, but they would not. He went backand begged the friars to close. They ignored him. So, the rival florist hired Hugh MacTaggart, theroughest and most vicious thug in town to"persuade" them to close. Hugh beat up the friars andtrashed their store, saying he'd be back if they didn't close up shop. Terrified, they did so, therebyproving that Hugh, and only Hugh, can prevent florist friars.
