Raluca Muntean, Western Michigan University student, will present a talk entitled "The Money
Changing Problem". This talk is cosponsored by the Kalamazoo Area Student Chapter of the MAA.
Refreshments will be served at 3:45 p.m ..

Dr. Joseph Gall ian, Professor of Mathematics, will present a talk entitled "Breaking Driver's License

4. Thursday, 15 October 1998,6:30 p.m. in Rooms 157-159, Bernhard Student Center, Annual Pi Mu
Epsilon Banquet and Initiation Ceremony. Punch bowl at 6 p.m. Dr. Joseph Gallian will present
an after dinner talk entitled "The Beatles ".

each day the Annual Pi Mu Epsilon Booksale will be held in Room 3360 on the Third Floor of Rood Hall.

Dr. John Stoughton, Hope College, will present a talk entitled " How Archimedes (287-212 B.C.)
Used his Laptop Computer to Compute the Value of Pi". Refreshments will be served at 3:45p.m . .
7. Friday, 4 December 1998, 4:00 p.m., in the Alavi Commons Room on the Sixth Floor of Everett
Tower, Professor Gary Chartrand, Western Michigan University, will present a talk to a joint meet
ing of Pi Mu Epsilon and the Kalamazoo Area Student Chapter of the MAA entitled "Research in Mathematics for Undergraduates: How Do We Do It?". This talk will be followed by our end-of
the-semester pizza party.
