The Special Education Advisory Committee (SEAC) is Michigan’s IDEAmandated State Advisory Panel to the State Board of Education and theMichigan Department of Education (MDE). Its purpose is to:
- Advise the State Education Agency (SEA) of unmet needs withinthe state in the education of children with disabilities,300.625(a)(1)
- Comment publicly on any rules or regulations proposed by thestate regarding the education of children with disabilities,300.652(a)(2)
- Advise the SEA in developing evaluations and reporting on datato the secretary under section 618 of the Act, 300.652(a)(3)
- Advise the SEA in developing corrective action plans to addressfindings identified in federal monitoring reports under Part B ofthe Act, 300.652(a)(4)
- Advise the SEA in developing and implementing policies relatingto the coordination of services for children with disabilities,300.652(a)(5)
- Advise on eligible students with disabilities in adult persons200.652(b)
