Suds & Cocktails

By: Paige TurnerIn a world where there are apps to confess

dirty sins, roll dice, find a virtual girlfriend and make your phone fart, it should come as no surprise that pretty soon you’ll be able to taste and smell beer through your cell. You read that right – Anheuser-Busch and Shock Top beer will soon be releasing an inventive, download-able application that will allow users to come as close as they can to a sudsy brew without actually buying a drink.Cell phones have become a vital part of any night on the town and apps like this will soon enhance the evening for you and your drink-ing buddies. Smartphone’s help revelers locate and check in at the hottest bar with the best specials, upload photos to Facebook, order a cab and even locate other nearby party-going singles with the touch of a finger. Now that touch of a finger has made drinking easier than rolling into your favorite dive and flashing the bartender. This new marketing campaign will be following the trend of going mostly digital and you can

expect Twitter, Facebook and other social media sites to help tell you all about it. A phone number will be released in the very beginning of April that will let Smartphone owners download the free application, so get your thumbs and taste buds ready. Due to the nature of this ground-breaking app there’s not much information available yet, other than the basics. Which makes sense, because being able to actually smell and taste a beverage through a phone is a development that puts Shock Top way ahead of the competition and will be a well-kept secret until its nearing release. Be sure to download this app as soon as you can so you can tell your grand-kids you were part of the cell phone drinking revolution.

Irish DUIon Saint Patrick’s day, an Irishman who had a little to much to drink was driving home from the city and his car was weaving violently all over the road. A cop pulled him over.“So,” said the cop to the driver, “Where have you been?”“Why, I’ve been to the pub of course,” slurs the drunk.“Well,” says the cop, “it looks like you’ve had quite a few to drink this evening.”“I did all right,” the drunk says with a smile.“did you know,” says the cop, standing straight and folding his arms across his chest, “that a few intersections back, your wife fell out of your car?”“oh, thank heavens,” sighs the drunk. “For a minute there, I thought I’d gone deaf.”

Q: How do you know you went to Mardi Gras?

In Tunisia, it began as a simple protest. A unified voice developed, condemning the current regime’s oppressive ideologies and

methodology when it comes to governing its people. An atmosphere of solidarity developed amongst the common folk as the protest wave then began to surge in the Middle East. The people of one of the most “Democratically Aligned” countries in the Middle East, Egypt, then felt it was time for a change. The Egyptian government, in power since the 1980’s, was toppled in weeks. The wave rolled even farther; Yemen, Bahrain, Libya, and even Iran. There is a unifying element that remains consistent throughout the most recent developments in the Middle East, though. An element that has created an atmosphere of change & re-analysis of the current standards and practices when it comes to the most basic principle of modern society: The right to choose.

As Americans, we sometimes take the most fundamental principles of our freedom for granted. It’s difficult not to, taking into consideration for the last 200 years this country has sat high on the global totem pole when it comes to the rights of a nation’s people. But, as the old saying goes, “You don’t know what ya got, ‘till it’s gone. “ At this point in the evolution of American society, it has become intrinsic to our nature as American people to have certain expectations when it comes to our personal freedoms. Concepts like the right to Life, Liberty & the Pursuit of Happiness (which is noted in that seemingly ancient, but ever-evolving piece of parchment known as The US Constitution); but the most important concept, both implied & directly said, is our freedom of choice. The freedom to choose the schools our children go to, the freedom to decide the businesses we will start or the businesses we will work for, the homes we will buy, the stores we will shop at, and even the prices of goods that we’re willing to pay. Choice is a powerful concept. But, is the right to choose something that we’ve become so comfortable with that our culture is willing to hand over the reins to someone else to choose for us? Have our people gotten to the point to where we don’t feel it’s any longer necessary to make our own choices? Do we need to put the choices for our individual wellness into the hands of an individual we’ve never met? A person or group of people that doesn’t know our families, our necessities, our wants or our passions; at times, it seems so. But regardless, one theme remains the same: We as people, under no circumstances, should ever relinquish our Right to Choose. Because it is the ability to make choices, that have defined our people & our country for the last two centuries.

At 7pm on Tuesday, March 8th 2011 the St. Joseph County council will meet on the 4th floor of the county city building. One bill on the agenda, which will be discussed, is Bill 15-11. This bill is a comprehensive smoking ban in St. Joe County which directly states: “No Smoking in any enclosed Public Building,” affecting all bars, restaurants & private clubs in St. Joe County. As of right now all St. Joe county residents have the right to make a choice when it comes to patronizing a smoking bar/

restaurant or a non-smoking bar/restaurant. This bill is being enacted in response to studies on the dangers of second hand smoke. The dangers of smoking have been a much discussed topic over the last half century and more campaigns that can be counted have been launched to convince the public to make a conscious decision against smoking. At this point, it has to be made very clear that the argument being presented here has nothing to do with the health risks of smoking or second hand smoke. It has been made very obvious in numerous studies the dangers of smoking & second hand smoke. The argument that is being made here is, preserving the Right to Choose as an individual, as a business owner, and as an American citizen.

As of right now, any person that doesn’t want to be exposed to second-hand smoke has the right to choose to NOT patronize smoking establishments (as well all know there are enough non-smoking hospitality establishments out there). But remember, this is a two way street being that smokers & non-smokers alike, have the right to patronize smoking establishments as well. Once again the key thing to keep in mind is that whether you’re a smoker or not, you have a choice.

Looking back at what’s happening around the world it’s easy to develop melodramatic comparisons, but sensationally opinionated journalism aside, it’s important that we remember that we as a people have a duty to defend the rights that we at times have become so complacent with. It’s not a concern of the greater good, or a crusade for smokers. It’s as simple as keeping (and sometimes fighting for) the essential Right to Choose. A right that so many people continue to fight and die for, all around the globe.

If you’d like to fight for your Right to Choose, whether you’re a smoker or not, attend the March 8th meeting and show our message of solidarity and unity. The most important thing to remember, once again, is that it all starts and ends with making a choice… or not.

Shamrock shakes and four leaf clovers ain't got nothin' on South Bend at this time of year. On March 11th, the town that Studebaker once called home will become both the alpha and the omega of rainbows when they unofficially welcome

in spring time with their annual celebration. For the 7th year in a row Downtown South Bend, Inc. will be hosting the St. Paddy's Tent Party and Pub Tour, and this will be your official guide book.In the next few following pages we will outline the top selling points of each bar on the tour and will hopefully convince you to visit each one before the night is through. Every single establishment has their own unique flare and the best way to check them out is to fully immerse yourself in what they have to offer. Specifically: beer.Of course, that won't be the only offer on the table during the Tent Party and Pub Tour, but if the prospect of hops, barley and water doesn't get your pulse pounding, perhaps a friend should drive you to the doctor … or maybe the morgue.Starting off at 5:00pm, the Tent Party and Pub Tour will not only kick off the spring time, it will also kick off the weekend for all of the nine-to-fiver's out there. This will offer everyone ample time to visit each of the 13 bars participating in the pub tour this year before making their way to the tent party itself. And of course, last but not least, Club Fever will be hosting the official after party and their doors will be open until 3:00am, so make sure to pace yourself. Beer will flow, music will play, and a great time will be had by all.

Buffalo Wild Wings123 W Washington St.

As a returning pub to this year's tour, Buffalo Wild Wings is excited for what they know will be a crazy, but fun, weekend. Having participated in the Tent Party and Pub Tour for several years, they always look forward to what DTSB has planned.

“I've definitely seen some expansion,” noted store manager Bret Robertson, “each year seems like it's a little bit bigger than the year before, and it's always a really good time for pretty much everyone who's involved with it.”

As is customary for any self-respecting St. Patrick's Day celebration, Buffalo Wild Wings will be serving up Coors Lite, Bud Lite, and Miller Lite in an unmistakable shade of chartreuse. Additionally, they will also be providing several craft beers with a distinctly Irish flavor. Among those will be Conway's Irish Ale from Great Lakes Brewing Company, along with several other Irish Ales. And of course Guiness, the life blood of the motherland herself, will be available as well.

Sticking to their theme as a sports bar, Buffalo Wild Wings will be setting themselves apart from the crowd this year by eschewing live music in favor viewing the NCAA Conference Tournaments. Their accumulated collection of televisions will be set to each game as it airs and the bar will most likely become the sports den of the party.

Frank's Place327 W Marion St.

Another veteran member of the Tent Party and Pub Tour, Frank's Place is fully stocked and ready for this year's onslaught of green beer, and corned beef and cabbage. This year they are offering specials on each one and are looking forward to welcoming in new faces both during and after the pub tour.

Taken together, the Tent Party and Pub Tour are an exciting event for downtown South Bend, and offer a significant boon for participating pubs, according to Laura Sumeri, manager at Frank's Place.

“They seem to draw a lot of people downtown to where they have the tent and all that, and I think people enjoy getting on the trolley's and going on a tour of the pubs,” she said of the event.

Along side their food and drink specials this year, Frank's Place will also be hosting live music from local band Park of Ash. And like most bars across America, Frank's Place will continue their festivities on the Thursday following the Tent Party and Pub Tour, when St. Patrick's Day is officially observed. Having the two separate events provides a unique advantage to the tent party pubs and partygoers.

“It gives us two kinds of St. Patrick's Days to celebrate,” Sumeri said, “so instead of just one holiday of cornbeef and cabbage, and music and fun, we get two days worth of it.”

Up to date information on specials at Frank's Place can be found on line at www.FranksPlaceSB.com.

Corby's Irish Pub441 E Lasalle Ave.

Keeping the 'Irish' in 'Irish Pub,' Corby's will be celebrating most enthusiastically during this year's Tent Party and Pub Tour. Boasting a history with the pub tour that few other participants can match, they have been a part of the pub tour since it began seven years ago. While some newer additions are still getting their rhythm down, Corby's has mastered every step of this number.

“It helps get a good steady flow of people coming through, y'know?” offered Jason Zolman, manager at Corby's. “The trolley comes by every 20, 25 minutes with 20 to 30 more people, takes the 20 that were here and just keeps on going on.”

In keeping with the appropriate theme, they will be offering all the requisite St. Paddy's Day offerings: more green beer than any one group of people could reasonably expect to consume in a single sitting. And of course life music provided by an in house DJ to keep your toes tapping while the libations flow. On top of that, Corby's will giving away a small island nation king's ransom worth of booty in the form of hats and t-shirts, as well as other assorted goodies that have still yet to be determined.

You can find all the steps to their dance on line at www.facebook.com/corbysirishpub.

Trios Restaurant & Jazz Club129 N Michigan St.

Perhaps one of the most unique bars in downtown South Bend,

Corby’s Irish Pub 441 E. Lasalle Ave

pg 12 www.MichianaEntertainer.com March 2011 March 2011 www.MichianaEntertainer.com pg 13

Page 14: Michiana Entertainer March 2011

Trios Restaurant & Jazz Club will be putting their own spin on a traditional favorite. As a jazz club they're already the odd man out on this holiday, but rather than downplay their differences they're using them to their advantage. Offering a slight reprieve from the more intense scenes on the pub tour, Trios will be featuring the laid back environment they are known for. Performing at Trios during the pub tour will be Organissimo, a jazz/soul trio from Michigan who has already garnered a small but loyal following in the South Bend area.

Trios will also be bringing their same original approach to their menu during the pub tour. In addition to offering the classics, green beer and corned beef and cabbage, they are also offering Sheppard's Pie. The dish will feature all the classic elements: lamb, carrots, potatoes, peas, all mixed with a dark rich gravy, with a mashed potato crust baked on in the oven. Taken together, Trios will function as something of an oasis in the excitement and melee of the pub tour. It will be a comfortable rest stop on an otherwise endless night of debauchery.

Check them out at www.TriosSB.com.

Sean O'Casey's Irish Pub123 N St. Joseph St.

Located inside the South Bend Marriot, Sean O'Casey's Irish Pub will be offering all of the traditional fare one would expect. Green beer, corned beef and cabbage, and similarly themed drink and

dinner specials.

For more information, visit them on line at www.seanocaseys.com.

Blarney Stone113 E Wayne St.

Returning for its fifth year, The Blarney Stone is looking forward to another year of the St. Paddy's Tent Party and Pub Tour. Already a popular stop on the tour, they are making sure to stock up on extra beer for annual event. In addition to heroic amount of libations they will be serving during the tent party, the Blarney Stone will also be hosting live music from Ground Control (formerly Riddler).

And, because they were so popular at last year's tent party celebration, the Blarney Stone has invited bagpipe players back for the second year in a row. Just down the street103 W Wayne St., their partner pub O'Sullivan's Crossing will be hosting a party of their own. For the tent party O'Sullivan's will be featuring music from Divided We Fall, as well as several drink specials of their own.

The following Thursday, when St. Patrick's Day is traditionally observed, the Blarney Stone will again be pulling out all the stops. Fresh kegs of green beer will be rolled in and tapped, and music will be provided by DJ Robo. Over at O'Sullivan's they won't be celebrating with quite as much fervor, but the doors will still be open.

Check them out on line at www.myspace.com/blarneystone1.

Vicki's112 W Monroe St.

Vicki's Bar, now in their sophomore year with the tent party, is looking forward to the excitement their second year will bring.

“It was amazing,” said Entertainment Director Kevin Camp of last year's experience. “A lot of different people [turned out] and we've got a lot of new patrons just from that day, actually.”

A popular stop on last year's tour due to their delicious sandwiches specials, they'll be offering something great this year as well. During this year's tent party they are featuring Reuben Sandwich baskets for $4.50. The baskets include a Reuben sandwich (of course), paired with a side of chips, a pickle, and a hardboiled egg.

At 5:00pm they will begin their celebration and DJ Woody will begin spinning tunes to keep the party moving. Also returning for their second year will be the bead give aways at Vickie's Bar.

There has even been rumors of t-shirts being printed up for the event, but as of press time it could not be confirmed.

Vickie's Bar will also be celebrating the following Thursday, on St. Patrick's Day (observed), or, as it's quickly coming to be known in South Bend, St. Patrick's Day part II. The second celebration will include much of what makes the first one great: green beer, great music, and delicious food.

Club NOMA119 N Michigan St

After a brief hiatus, Club NOMA is once again returning to the fold for this year's St. Paddy's Tent Party and Pub Tour. Having participated in year's past, they are excited to once again be part of the event. Like all the other on the pub tour this year, they, too, are planning some big things for the evening. Spinning tracks all night at Club NOMA will be local favorite DJ Double D. Things will kick off at 5:00pm and go on straight until 2:30am. Their drink specials for the night will include $3.00 Irish Car Bombs, $3.00 of Bushmills Irish Whiskey, and $2.00 domestic bottles.

On St. Patrick's Day Club NOMA will also be celebrating with similar drink specials and entertainment, but they are hinting at some other tricks as well.

“Since there's no tent party, we're going to try bring people downtown with more aggressive beer specials and other things,” said General Manager Mike McNeff.

Playing it pretty close to the chest, he didn't reveal too many details, but suffice it to say, it too should be an exciting night.

To keep up on what's going down on Club NOMA, follow them on line at www.facebook.com/clubnoma or clubnoma.com.

Club Rumor111 Woodward Ct.

Now in their third year with the St. Paddy's Tent Party and Pub Tour, Club Rumor is more excited than ever for the annual event to return to South Bend.

“We think that DTSB does a great job and all of the local bars that we're in the alley with, they all seem to like it, and we all work together, so we're just excited,” said Club Rumor Manager Morgan LeFluer. “Downtown South Bend will finally have some foot traffic. It's been kind of hurting on the foot traffic part.”

The increased amount of foot traffic will be a welcomed change of pace for all the bars in the area, as the cold weather

has put the kibosh on a lot of it this past winter. To help kick off the spring season Club Rumor will also be hosting a party of its own during the tent party. Their celebration will feature

green beer, bead give aways, and CJ the DJ spinning jams all night long. Their doors open at 8:00pm and don't close again until 3:00am. As an added incentive to stop in during the tent party, Club Rumor is lowering their cover charge to a rock bottom $3.00.

On St. Patrick's Day they will once again have the green beer flowing and plenty of beads to give away. The music will be provided by none other than DJ Grind and The Dusty Show. On St. Patrick's Day they will also be offering another unique special.

“That one is a Free Pour Night, which basically means for an extra $1 on top of the drink [price] you tell the bartender when to stop pouring,” said LeFluer. “We've done that every year on the actual St. Paddy holiday, the only time that we do the free pour night.”

The View Tavern515 E Jefferson

According to owner Rebecca Ullery, the main motivation behind The View Tavern participating each year in The St. Paddy's Tent Party and Pub Tour is simple: meeting new people.

The View Tavern, 515 E. Jefferson

pg 14 www.MichianaEntertainer.com March 2011 March 2011 www.MichianaEntertainer.com pg 14pg 15 www.MichianaEntertainer.com March 2011 March 2011 www.MichianaEntertainer.com pg 15

Page 16: Michiana Entertainer March 2011

"Every year there's a bunch of new people that [South Bend] attracts," stated Ullery, "so it's kind of neat to see how many different people come in here from different places, you know?"

And this year she should have no problems drawing new and old patrons alike into her bar at the annual event. Inside The View Tavern they will be offering specials on almost everything behind the bar and on the staple dish of any St. Paddy’s celebration: corned beef and hash.

Sangria’s123 North Michigan St.

Also returning for their sophomore year on The St. Paddy’s Tent Party and Pub Tour this year is Sangrias Latin Cuisine. Located at 123 North Main street, Sangrias is looking forward to showcasing their Latin flare during the not so traditional Irish event.

At Sangrias they will be providing specials on some of their finest foods throughout the night, including their customer favorites, tapas. Tapas, for the uninformed, are a small snack-like dish that, when combined with a few others, can create a unique meal. It is not uncommon for fans of tapas to trade small portions of their meal with one another while dining, to encourage one another to

try new flavors and new flavor combinations.

During the tent party Sangrias will be offering specials on their tapas, as well as a selection of their other specialty plates. While out celebrating, Sangrias will be the perfect place to stop and refuel for the night’s festivities.

Madison Oyster Bar129 N. Main St.

Once again joining St. Paddy’s Tent Party and Pub Tour will be the Madison Oyster Bar. Located at 129 North Main street, they will be looking forward to partying on each of their three levels. To accompany their festive celebrating, the Madison Oyster Bar will be offering a variety of drink specials, including green Bud and Bud Light, as well as a number of dining deals.

The upscale restaurant and bar will also be giving away a vast assortment of gifts and prizes to almost everyone who walks through their door. If you’re interested in having a good time and walking away with some free swag, remember to stop by.

CJ’s Pub236 S. Michigan Street

New comer to the DTSB St. Paddy’s Pub Tour is CJ’s Pub. A staple within the South Bend Community, CJ’s recently relocated to the a new location in the heart of downtown South Bend. Their nationally acclaimed Super Pub Burgers are enough to crave even the heartiest Irish appetitie. In additon to the burgers, CJ’s menu also has panini’s, soups & salads.

Closing in on a decade, the St. Paddy’s Tent Party and Pub Tour is now in its seventh. With each year eclipsing the year before in both size and attendance, it is a feat worthy of every accolade it receives. For more information on the annual event, visit them on line at www.paddyparty.com.

After this year's St. Paddy's Tent Party and Pub Tour, Club Fever will be hosting the official after party for the second year in a row. After the success of their first run as the official after party last year,

Downtown South Band, Inc. has once again selected Club Fever to host the event.Like last year's event, this year will also include live music, green beer and some great drink specials, with a few extra surprises thrown in. The party will last through the early hours of the morning and pick up again the following Thursday when Club Fever celebrates St. Patrick's Day officially. Anyone who feels they have the stamina is encouraged to attend.

Officially kicking off at 11:00pm, just after the tent party ends, the after party at Club Fever will be ready to keep the night moving full

speed ahead. Now the officially sanctioned after party for the second year in a row, they are excited for what this year will bring.

“Last year they'd just announce right on the stage that the after party was at Club Fever.” explained club manager Vic Mann. “That really helped everyone

coming out after the tent party.”While the standard fee of $5.00 at the door will apply to any non-tent

brews, plenty of car bombs and other assorted shots. In addition to all the other previously mentioned celebratory events and shenanigans, Club Fever will also have another ace up their sleeve for the after party. To help kick off the search for the first official

103.9 WRBR Rock Girl, the search will begin at Club Fever. Jenna Jacobs, host of the At Work Show on The Bear, will be pulling double duty as host of the after party as well. The Bear, already firmly integrated with DTSB's Tent Party and Pub Tour (hosted once again by fellow DJ Tommy Carrol) further solidified their connection

this year by hosting their first Rock Girl Search at Club Fever's after party. The Rock Girl Search, which is still open to submissions, is a contest put on by

103.9 The Bear to select their emissary of rock for one year and grant her a $20,000.00 reward. To sign up for your chance to become the first official WRBR Rock Girl, or to view current submissions, direct your web browser to wrbr.com and follow the 'Rock Girl' link located in the top navigation bar of their web page. As much fun as hosting the official after party for the DTSB St. Paddy's Tent Party and Pub Tour will be, Club Fever isn't putting all of their proverbial eggs in one basket. The following Thursday, March 17th, they will once again be donning their green attire and golden buckled shoes to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. What's more, St. Patrick's Day falls on a Thursday this year, which is already a busy night at Club Fever. Every Thursday they host a 'College Night' that attracts students from around the city, and perhaps most notably from Notre Dame. As an already busy night for Club Fever, Thursday March 17th will definitely be one for the books. Now in its seventh year, the DTSB St. Paddy's

Tent Party and Pub Tour is doing better than ever. Consequently, the after party at Club Fever is expecting to do better as well. Each year brings a noticeable improvement, and after becoming the official after party last year, the improvement at Club Fever seemed greater still. For up to date updates on what's happening at Club Fever, follow the on line at ClubFever.biz.

Trends may come and go, but for longtime musicians like Stillshot’s founder and front-

man, Rob Yocom, one thing never changes – the desire to have fun. “We all came from origi-nal music. As we grew up, and realized those dreams were probably not going to come to frui-tion in South Bend, we all decided: ‘Hey, we can still play music and get in front of people – just not (with) our own music,’” said Yocom, laugh-ing. “And we’ve become pretty successful at it. We get a lot of premiere events around the area.”One of the biggest is right around the corner, when Stillshot takes the stage at 8 p.m. Friday, March 11, for Downtown South Bend’s (DTSB) “St. Paddy’s Tent Party & Pub Tour,” at 350 S. Michigan St. (corner of Wayne and South Mich-igan). Admission is $5 at the tent, and patrons must be 21 to enter. The parking lot is close to Club Fever, 222 S. Michigan St., where Gin-ger Dare is the main band for the “After Party” there. Doors open at 9 p.m., and entry is free for those coming from the DTSB event. For details, visit /www.paddyparty.com/, or www.clubfever.biz/.This year marks Stillshot’s fifth DTSB gig. “It has grown to be an enormous gathering to cel-ebrate St. Patrick’s Day – and when I say, ‘enor-mous,’ I base it off the first time we did it,” said Yocom. “It’s probably doubled or tripled in at-tendance.” Yocom credits a location change as

one major reason for the Tent Party’s growth. “The first two years we were involved, it was in the parking lot next to the Morris (Performing Arts Center),” said Yocom. “Then (DTSB) they moved it to a parking lot that’s closer to the (St. Joseph County) library. It just got huge. When they moved the location, it just seemed like the whole city was down there, having a good time and celebrating.”To keep those good vibes coming, Yocom (gui-tar, drums, vocals) and bandmates Jill Leicht-man (drums, vocals), Jason Staples (bass, vo-cals) and Garner Wrisley will mix the familiar with some smartly-chosen gems that it doesn’t play often. “We’re a little edgier than some of the other popular bands in the area,” said Yo-com. “That’s what sets us apart a little bit. But you’re going to hear some of the great songs that you love.” That means focusing on the ‘70s through the ‘90s, with songs for every mood. “Everybody always loves ‘Balls On Parade,’ that’s a good, energizing crowd song – most people like our rockin’ stuff,” said Yocom. “But we really enjoy doing some of the ‘80s stuff – maybe throwing in a Prince song here or there, something like that.”Covering such wide ground comes naturally for a band used to playing many different venues. “At Downtown South Bend, there’s going to be people that probably just turned 21 that day, to

(people in their) 50s and 60s, even – so we’re going to try to do a little something for every-one,” said Yocom. “Like I said, we’re a little edgier than other bands – and take a little more risk in our song selection – but we still have the real super popular songs that everybody knows.”The band’s fifth anniversary comes in May, with some type of venue party a possibility. “We’re all so busy with our regular shows, I don’t know when we’ll squeeze it in,” said Yocom, laugh-ing. “We all have jobs, and kids, all that stuff.” For him, that means juggling his “weekend war-rior” side with his 15-year aerospace engineer-ing career – which he doesn’t mind a bit. “One of the great things about this Michiana area is that over the years, the musicians have become pretty good friends. I couldn’t say there’s any-body in any band that I wouldn’t go out and sup-port, or call a friend. We all love doing shows together, love supporting each other, and it’s changed. You couldn’t say that 15 years ago,” he said. (For more information about Stillshot, visit them at: www.stillshotonline.com/.)

The Desire For Fun Doesn’t Change...By: Ralph Heibutzki

“Eclectic” is a worn-out word in music circles, but for the Elkhart-based quar-

tet Blessed Engine, that’s hardly an idle boast. “We’re very versatile – we run the whole gamut,” said guitarist-bassist-vocalist James DeMorrow. “New stuff would be, on the fe-male vocal side of things, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga. We’re also doing (songs from) AC/DC, Bon Jovi and Guns ‘N’ Roses. But the thing is, this band pulls it off, and pulls it off well.”That policy is made possible by the equally multi-instrumental Joe Spano (guitar, bass, drums, vocals) and Mark Culler (drums, lead vocals, keyboards) – ensuring a fair amount of swapping during any show, DeMorrow ex-plains. Another factor is the band’s new lead vocalist – known simply by her first name, LaBree – which enabled Blessed Engine to tackle female vocal songs (though all the mem-bers sing leads during shows). “This is her first band,” said DeMorrow. “Just on a whim, we asked her to come down (to audition). She thought it was a joke. She came down, and just knocked our socks off. She’s an absolute gem.”

DeMorrow also looks forward to Blessed Engine’s ap-

pearance at Downtown South Bend’s “St. Paddy’s Tent Party & Pub Tour,” which goes from 5 to 11

p.m. Friday, March 11, at 350 S. Michigan St. (corner of Wayne and South Michigan streets). Admission is $5 at the tent; patrons must be 21 to enter. Blessed Engine plays at 5:30 p.m., followed by Stillshot at 8 p.m. The parking lot is close to Club Fever, 222 S. Michigan St., where Ginger Dare is the featured band for the “After Party” there. Doors open at 9 p.m., and entry is free for those coming straight from the Tent Party. For information, visit /www.paddyparty.com/, or www.clubfever.biz/.The occasion will mark Blessed Engine’s first Tent Party appearance. “We complement each other well – Stillshot lends itself more to the heavy side of the spectrum,” said DeMorrow. “We’re just a fun, energetic band. That’s how we’ve been described. I like looking over the stage, seeing people moving their feet, and smiling. That’s when we know that we’re doing a good job.”Both featured bands also share several deeply intertwined relationships that strengthened ev-erybody’s abilities, in DeMorrow’s view. “Joe spent time in L.A., lived in Nashville, did some touring,” said DeMorrow. “Mark and I were in a band in the late ‘90s, Dead Spin, so all of us have been down the original (music) road. Mark is actually the original drummer of Stillshot – he formed Stillshot with Rob Yo-com.” Culler and DeMorrow also played with Yocom in a pre-Stillshot ensemble, Two North-

west, “so there’s some history there,” he added.Blessed Engine’s members also share strong social ties away from the scene, too. “Blessed Engine really is a band of friends – we’re all close,” said DeMorrow. “Joe and I went to high school together. Mark and I have been playing, on and off together, for almost 20 years. It’s a real blessing to hang out with your friends, (and) have everybody enjoy what you’re doing.” The band is currently working up an acoustic set, one of several tricks tucked up its sleeve for this year. Plans are also underway for recording some original material this year – which isn’t surprising, with so much talent in one lineup.“With the addition of LaBree, that opens up a whole new avenue – we always wrote with the male vocal in mind. Now we can take a differ-ent approach to some of the ideas that we have,” said DeMorrow. No matter how the studio proj-ect goes, though, DeMorrow vows that Blessed Engine won’t lose sight of its mission – to keep its crowds moving. “When it comes time to play the shows, it’s all about the fun. We play some-thing for everybody. I really think that’s the key,” said DeMorrow. “We’re not trying to limit ourselves to one style of music, or one type of crowd. Throughout a Blessed Engine show, there are going to be things that appeal to everyone.”

A Vow To Keep The Crowds Moving

Not many bands can segue smoothly from songs by AC/DC, to Journey, Katy Perry and Taylor Swift, but that’s how Ginger

Dare spices up its sets – which reflect the quartet’s individual convictions, according to lead vocalist Missey Domiano. “It what’s we’re passionate about, and it comes through the PA – even if it’s older. We’re working on an updated version of ‘These Boots (Are Made For Walkin’) right now; it’s kind of rockabilly. We try to bring what we really enjoy, because if it ever becomes a job, we’ve all agreed to stop doing it,” she said. However, lack of enthusiasm won’t be a problem when Ginger Dare hits the stage on Friday, March 11, for the “After Party” at Club Fever, 222 S. Michigan St., South Bend, IN (doors open at 9 p.m.). The After Party follows Downtown South Bend’s “Tent Party & Pub Tour,” at 350 S. Michigan St., which also features Blessed Engine (5:30 p.m.) and Stillshot (8 p.m.). Tent party admission is $5 (patrons must be 21), and free for those headed to the After Party. For information, visit www.paddyparty.com/, or www.clubfever.biz/.“We also played Club Fever last year – it was sheer chaos!” said Domiano, laughing. “There’s a lot of people, the energy is just phenomenal, and everybody is just out to have a great time. We had about 1,500 people, and the dance floor was always full – I

mean, there is nothing better.” Such occasions allow Ginger Dare to maximize the audience participation ethic that makes its gigs memorable. “We’ll bring you up, (and) you can sing with us – we try to involve the crowd as much as possible,” said Domiano. “It’s just phenomenal.”A few things have changed since last year’s outing – when Domiano, guitarist Chad Overholser, bassist Tony Perks and drummer Nick Wise were known as 1900. Besides the new band name, they’ve taken on a new member in Club Fever’s general manager, Vic Mann, on rhythm guitar. “With Vic, we have a fuller sound,” said Domiano. “By adding Vic on rhythm guitar, we’re adding more to our repertoire. Chad is an extraordinary guitar player, and does an awesome job, but when we put Vic in place, Chad gets to let loose.” Mann’s addition coincided with the name change, which originated partly out of a desire to “be taken a little bit more seriously,” according to Domiano. “We felt that season (under the old name) had been outgrown. It was just time, and we were wanting a more catchy, mysterious name.”Look for more additions this year to the band’s roughly 50-song playlist, as well. “It’s a little bit of everything, all rolled into one. We have (songs by) the Go-Gos, Blondie, Pat Benatar – we run the gamut,” said Domiano. Although she’s the primary lead singer, everyone else but Mann gets their turn at the mike – which is how Wise, for example, tackles the AC/DC and Black Crowes portion of the set. “That’s the whole reason we got together, because it’s all for the passion of the music. Because of that, we’ve formed a wonderful family,” said Domiano. “We’ve got an amazing sound guy that brings it all together, (in) David Stutzman. He has the right fingers, and the right feel, and it’s just incredible. We’ve all become a family, just because of our love of the music.” Ginger Dare’s home base currently revolves around Rulli’s Bella, and some of the surrounding Middlebury area bars. The band hopes to broaden its profile locally – but it’ll happen gradually, since real life takes precedence, notes Domiano, who works as an aerobic instructor and personal trainer. “We’ve got some private events coming up, too – most of us have children, and other responsibilities,” said Domiano. “We try to keep it to one or two times a month. That way, it stays fresh, and fun. I’ve got the best job in the world, because I’m surrounded by five amazing guys. So that just makes it even more fun for me.”

Between his regular club gigs, weekly podcast and mixes, it’s a wonder that DeMarkus Gary (DJ Kane) gets to sleep. But no matter what he’s doing, one

philosophy guides him. “A DJ is a performer: a lot of DJs forget that. When people pay cover charges, they’re not just coming for a ‘push play, droid’ DJ,” said Gary. “They want something, and as a DJ, it’s our job to give them that.” With roughly 60,000 songs on his computer hard drive, it’s safe to say that Gary can find anything to move a crowd, whose feedback makes – or breaks – any performance. “A DJ has to connect with the crowd – not just with his hands on the turntables, but with the microphone,” said Gary. “That helps with things like crowd control, bringing the crowd up to a higher notch, or down to a lower notch. A DJ has to be able to maintain that.”Specializing in hip-hop, R&B, pop, techno and house music, Gary can be found from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m. Friday, at the Riverside Tavern, 100 N. Center St., Mishawaka; 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. Saturday at Club Twister, 2626 Peddlers Village Mall, Goshen; and 10 p.m. to 3 a.m. Sunday, at Kildare’s Irish Pub, 1234 N. Eddy St., South Bend. He’s soon starting another regular gig from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m. Wednesday, at Blue Island, as well. Asked how he prepares for each job, Gary responded, “Club Twister is a more hip-hop-driven, urban type of club. I do a lot of scratching, mixing and mic work. Kildare’s is (on the) Notre Dame campus, so it’s mainstream, and bouncy – a lot of Black-Eyed Peas, a lot of Katy Perry, just real, real bouncy.” Gary hosts a weekly podcast, theinfamousdjkane.podOmatic.com, and has just finished several mixes for WSMK Radio 99, of Niles, that local listeners should be hearing in February. “They’ve got four to five mixes down there, pre-approved. That’s going to be real big,” he said. If that’s not keeping him busy enough, Gary has been battling other DJs on 44 Cannon’s Internet radio show; at press time, he’d been unbeaten for five weeks. “I’ve taken down DJs from South Bend, Elkhart and Atlanta,” said Gary.Originally from Benton Harbor, Gary now calls South Bend, IN home. He started in 2000, influenced by another local artist, DJ Kee-Wiz, who also gave Gary his current monicker. “He had a pair of Technics, and made ‘em do things that I never thought possible,” said Gary. “That started me wanting to learn how to become a DJ.” If he has any advice for performers, though, it boils down to a one-sentence proposition: “Do your one best song.” “Like I say, I do shows with everybody. It’s amazing how three hours have passed, and we’ve had nothing but dry, boring music from local artists,” said Gary, laughing. “Everybody wants to do 15 minutes, and it’s their four worst songs – or the four songs that they really shouldn’t be doing. Then, they call me, and ask, ‘How’d I do?’”Keeping pace with trends can also make a big difference between working consistently and treading water, as well. “Myself, Pablo G, DJ H2,DJ Sin – we’re all digital,” said Gary. “We don’t even use CDs anymore, and we still have DJs coming with CDs, using the regular dual deck – you can’t scratch, you can’t mix, it’s bad. They’re souring the game. I still have my turntables, but I know when to use ‘em, and not to use ‘em.” This kind of knowledge is what gives Gary the confidence to deal with any crowd. “It falls back on the DJ being a performer. That’s where it lies – for that DJ to dig within, be able to pull out that performer, and not just be that, quote-unquote, ‘DJ,’” he said. The standup life has been good to Dwayne Gill. He’s shared stages with the likes of Louie Anderson, and “Last

Comic Standing”’s second-season winner, John Heffron. He’s appeared on “The Bob And Tom Radio Show,” and the gritty police drama, “Detroit 1-8-7.” However, all these highlights were a long way off, when Gill first stepped onto a stage in 1992 – while serving as a trooper in the Michigan State Police.“When I first became a police officer, they talked about how cops needed to do something outside of police work, to keep them sane,” said Gill by phone, from his Lansing, MI home. “I didn’t want to be that guy that hung around cops all the time, that only talked about police work. I found comedy as an outlet to talk about the crazy stuff that goes on with my family, as well as to tell the public about the crazy stuff they do.” The crucial moment came when Gill met Bill Bellamy after a gig. “I asked him, ‘How do you get involved in this line of work?’ He said, ‘Go to open mike nights.’ So I started going to open mikes, reading books, watching, and learning,” he said.Gill will bring his comic instincts on Saturday, March 26, to Rulli’s Bella Luna, 851 U.S. Hwy. 20, Middlebury, IN. For more information, call (574) 825-7222, or visit www.dwaynegill.com. “You’re going to see a really, large, middle-aged African-American man, who’s a cop, a father and a knucklehead – I’m so happy I get to talk about the two things I love, which is police work, and family,” said Gill. However, Gill’s not above slipping in some topical material if the occasion demands it, “because you just can’t get away from all the great stuff that (‘Two-And-A-Half Men’ star) Charlie Sheen has been doing lately,” he said, laughing.Once he’d got the open mike night experience under his belt, Gill needed just two more gigs before doing his first paid show at Gadzooks Comedy Club. After taking a six-year break to focus on his law enforcement career, Gill returned to the stage in 2002. No longer hitting the road as a trooper, he’s currently a legislative liaison for the State Police, “so I’m an advocate for my agency,” he said.Gill’s major inspirations include Louis C.K., Richard Pryor and Sinbad, for their honesty, and ability to connect with their audiences. “Sinbad is a hero of mine – he’s got good, clean comedy, and I’m clean, for the most part,” said Gill. “However, I’m edgy on a few things. It depends on the room, and the audience.” Louis C.K. and Bill Burr rank a little higher right now, because “they are so totally honest with their point of view – they open themselves up, just like Richard Pryor did many years ago,” said Gill. “They talk about themselves and their families, and they’re just honestly funny about it. I

respect that, and I aspire to be there one day.”All comics should live or die by that standard, as far as Gill is

concerned. “Any comedian can get up there, tell tall tales and get a laugh,” said Gill. “But the difference between them, and the great ones, is just honesty, giving your true point of view. And I’m getting there. Even though I’m 47, I like to think of myself as a young comedian in this industry.” When not in the office, Gill spends 40 weeks a year on the road, and eventually hopes to break into TV comedy. “I retire from this job in five-and-a-half years,” said Gill. “My plan is to continue to grind nightly, weekly. And when I do retire, I’ll be doing this full-time. My show business dream is to host ‘Saturday Night Live,’ and hopefully, comedy takes me there – because if you aim high, you may still fall among the stars. I quit for several years, and I regret it, but I don’t look back on it. Things happen for a reason.”

Leprechaun at the Barone day a man walked in a bar with a box. he sat down, opened the box and out popped a leprechaun. the man told the bartender, “I want a Rolling Rock and a shot of whiskey for my buddy here.” There was man sitting at the end of the bar watching all of this and, after the leprechaun drank his shot of whiskey, he ran down to the end of the bar and spit in the guy’s face. Then he ran back. The guy with the box said, “I’ll have another Rolling Rock and a shot of whiskey for my buddy here.” After the leprechaun drank his shot of whiskey, he again ran to the end of the bar and spit in the man’s face, then dashed back. The guy with the box ordered another beer for himself and another shot for the leprechaun. Again, the after the leprechaun drank his shot of whiskey, he ran down to the end of the bar. But this time the man was waiting for him and he grabbed the leprechaun and held him in the air. He said, “If you spit in my face again, I’m going to cut your pecker off.” The leprechaun laughed and said, “Leprechauns don’t have peckers.” Then the man said, “If you don’t have peckers, then how do you pee?” “By spitting,” said the leprechaun.

The American version of Ireland’s St. Patrick’s Day meal, in the US and elsewhere, is Corned Beef and Cabbage. My research found that Corned Beef first appeared in

the 12th century poem Visions of MacConglinne which describes Irish food eaten at that time. It tells the cut of meat used for Corned Beef was a delicacy in Ireland which was served to Kings and nobility to conjure “the demon of gluttony out of their bellies,” and not for Irish farming peasantsWhat is Corned Beef anyway? Corning was developed in the Anglo-Saxon times to cure meat so it would last throughout the summer months. Corn sized salt pellets would be rubbed into the meat to keep it from spoiling. In the late 19th century it became popular when the Irish emigrated to the U.S. and Canada. The meat was treated the same way as a “bacon joint” would have been, at home in Ireland. It was soaked to draw off the excess salt, then braised or broiled with cabbage served in its own juice with minimal seasoning.Another little known truth is that for most Irish people, Corned Beef is considered too poor to eat on holidays. They’d make something more festive. Like salt bacon and potatoes

and root vegetables.Today’s traditional St. Patrick’s Day feast of Corned Beef and Cabbage (with the little packet of pickling spices) takes several hours of slow cooking in order to prepare it correctly, My recipe keeps with tradition, while adding a few small twists. Incorporating an Irish staple, I use Guiness Stout to make a glaze which is ladled over the meat when finished. And, since Ireland is known for its love of root vegetables, I’ve added celery root and turnips with the potatoes and carrots. I think you’ll find this recipe original with the present food mood we find today. Please enjoy!

Q: What is the difference between Fat Tuesday and Mardi Gras?

A: Mardi Gras is an all-night party in New Orleans, Fat Tuesday is who you

wake up with the morning after!

It starts off slow, building with greater intensity. Clothing comes off in layers and a

certain tingly feeling begins to wash over your body. You want to rush it but something like this only follows its own time, so you must try to relax and just wait for it to happen. Because when it does, it will burst into the open and you won’t be able to keep the grin off your face. Of course, I’m talking about Spring.March might come in like a lion and leave like a lamb but that’s not always how it feels for us women. In the beginning, we’re still trudging through a bleak winter with little to no end in sight. However by the time the month’s end rolls around, we’ve got our eyes on warmer weather and our hearts set on that next magical season. It’s no surprise that March Madness, Spring Break, Mardi Gras and St. Patrick’s Day all fall in this month and it’s no coincidence that most of these festivities involving drinking copious amounts of booze. After months of hibernation, we need shake off this cabin fever. There are many ways to blow off the steam that builds up during cold winter months, as the above holidays go to show. If you’re into sports and feel like getting your blood to boil, you’ll probably be spending time in front of a TV, screaming about bad calls and foul shots. Perhaps you would rather enhance your understanding of another culture by experiencing a place rich with history and music. In that case, head down to the Big Easy for Mardi Gras – you can soak up the local flavor and the temperatures could be so warm that you find yourself taking off your top. Spring Break affords the opportunity to take that trip or many others and going on a vacation in the middle of March is a great way to help celebrate the oncoming spring. You can toast the end of winter and enjoy the fact you’re no longer living on frozen tundra. Besides, having a tan when you go back home will

show the world you mean business and won’t stand

for cold temperatures any longer. Mother Nature will surely comply. Unfortunately, in the real world the weather doesn’t always do what we want. The real world also doesn’t give a rat’s ass about Spring Break (if you don’t believe me, just ask your first boss out of college). Since most of us can’t run away to someplace tropical, we’re forced to bring the party to us. You can do this even if you’re not into the madness of basketball, so long as you can appreciate the good people of Ireland. As any novelty store goes to show, they make it easy to get into the Spirit of the Irish and it’s as good excuse as any to have a drink (or ten) in the middle of the week.No matter how you choose to go about it, find a way to embrace the spring and have fun with it. Just be careful not to overdo it – green may be in style for a few days but, though they’ve tried, not even supermodels can make the nauseous look attractive on a regular basis.

“Unfortunately, in the real world the weather doesn’t always do what

we want. “

Driver Takes Right, Right Into ChurchBerlin, GermanyTwo elderly British tourists driving through Southern Germany recently wound up in the hospital simply because they were following directions. The 76-year-old man’s global positioning system told him to take a right, which led the confused couple right into a church. The foundation of the building was damaged but the senior citizens were relatively unharmed. Their insurance will pay up but the local priest also requested the couple say one hundred Hail Mary’s and fifty Our Father’s as a penance, along with making a sizable donation to the church.

It’s a Dog Eat Toe WorldSan Diego, CaliforniaA 72-year-old man who suffers from nerve degeneration woke up recently to find some of his toes missing and the blood trails suggest his dogs ate them while he napped. The Cavalier King Charles Spaniels have been quarantined but their owner does not want them permanently taken away so they will return home after ten days. He stocked up on dog food and purchased a pair of steel-toed boots so he says he’s prepared for their arrival.

Snakes in a Suitcase Yangon, MyanmarTwo men have been arrested for allegedly attempting to smuggle almost 5,000 snakes from Myanmar to China. The men said that they were hoping to make some money since snakes are eaten and used in medicines and aphrodisiacs but friends of the potential criminals say otherwise. According to them, the men are huge fans of Snakes on a Plane and were trying to film a trailer because they want Samuel L. Jackson to star in their sequel.

Yogurt Special Flavor Banned from Store Albuquerque, New MexicoA grocery store employee is under investigation for adding special sauce to the

yogurt samples he recently handed out to unsuspecting shoppers – unfortunately, the sauce was his own semen. The 31-year-old man is a DNA match to the unsightly goo found in one woman’s sample and now the FDA is involved. He claimed his spunk tasted like nectar from the Gods and he was just trying to improve the quality of the product. When asked how he knew that, the suspect declined to comment but rubbed his stomach and grinned.

Russia’s Educational System Rivals America’sMoscow, RussiaA new study shows that 32 percent of Russians still believe the Earth is the center of the universe, while 29 percent think that humans lived at the same time as the dinosaurs. Before you start making jokes, these answers are unfortunately pretty close to what Americans think too. When asked for comment, Russian officials said at least their average citizen knows the history and distillation process for vodka, and that Americans wouldn’t know good drinking if a Smirnoff bottle jumped up and bit them on the ass.

New App Makes it Easier to Confess Smartphone AddictionIndianapolis, IndianaFor $1.99, you can now have the power to choose from a list of sins and confess the ones you’ve committed. Then the app picks an act of contrition and instructs you to do a penance for your act. It’s an easy way to make amends for coveting your neighbors wife (or your neighbor) but the Catholic church still encourages people to see a priest for their more serious sins. No word on if the app gives penance for indecent acts with altar boys.

Naughty Nurse May Have Stolen Drugs from PatientsMinneapolis, Minnesota A nurse allegedly gave a recent kidney stone patient one-third of the prescribed pain medication, telling him to “man up” while she pocketed the rest for herself. She might have gotten away with it if she hadn’t immediately given herself the drugs, as she started acting disoriented and falling asleep on the job. When asked to take a drug test, she refused and resigned but she’s not out of the woods yet. When asked for comment, the man she left to fend the pain for himself said that she should “woman up” for her time in prison.

Beer lovers, rejoice! Round up your family and friends because Blue Chip Casino, Hotel & Spa will be hosting its first annual “Brewfest” at

the Stardust Event Center in Michigan City on Saturday, April 9 from 1 pm-5 pm. Why a Brewfest? Building off wine-tastings, Jack Elia, Food and Beverage Director at Blue Chip, says “beer tastings are the perfect opportunity for beer aficionados, beer lovers and the casual drinker to discover new brews and talk to brewers who craft the beer. Micro-breweries are the way the beverage industry is going. Come here to taste and see what you like and have a good time.” Twenty different breweries will be in attendance including New Holland, Auckland, Samuel Adams, Magic Hat, Goose Island, Blue Moon and Leinenkugel, among others. Be ready to distance yourself from your staple major brewery beer. Guests will receive a pint glass and may sample one, two, ten…as many as 100 different beers available; so plan to sample to your heart’s content without wasting your money. You are permitted (and encouraged!) to go back and re-sample your favorite beers as many times as your heart desires. No need to worry about drinking on an empty stomach either, as brats and other food will be available to satisfy your appetite; not to mention all of Blue Chip’s restaurants will be open.

Tickets for “Brewfest” go on sale March 5th through Ticketmaster (go to www.bluechipcasino.com for a direct link to event tickets through Ticketmaster.com). Ticket prices range $15-$50. General admission is $30 while a VIP pass for $50 entitles you to a one-hour session with a New Holland Brewery Brewmaster. He will pair six (6) of his beers with fine cheeses, prior to the event; but act fast, because only 150 VIP passes are available. A special $15 ticket price is available for the sober guests in the house: designated drivers are encouraged to partake in the festivities as well - just minus the brew. An unlimited supply of soft drinks will be on hand and all DD’s will receive a specialty t-shirt. Admission automatically qualifies all guests attending for door prizes courtesy of the brewing companies.

The fest concludes at 5pm but the fun doesn’t stop there. You’re going to want to plan a weekend away from home for this. D “Alexander” Scott, Community Relations Coordinator of Blue Chip, encourages guests to make a getaway of it.

“When people come here they receive

quite an experience.”

Blue Chip boasts not just a casino but a hotel and spa. Make a reservation to stay in the 22-story Spa Blu Tower or stay in the original 8-story Blue Chip Tower. Blue Chip is the only casino in the area with a spa, the sprawling 10,000 square-foot Spa Blu. Is your significant other not interested in the frothy festivities? Book a spa appointment! With spring season rapidly approaching there’s no better time for a manicure, pedicure, or full-on makeover…massage, anyone? There’s plenty to keep the most discerning guest entertained while you’re sampling all the tasty brews and to keep you entertained long after the fest is over. Literally, there is something to please everyone. It’s Vegas Baby! Is the next best thing to Sin City and hands down the favorite dining and entertainment venue at Blue Chip. “It has the look and feel of Las Vegas,” says Scott. There’s also Rocks lounge where you can enjoy your favorite cocktails and soak in some live entertainment. There’s The Game for all you sports fans. Not satisfied yet? How about the heart of Blue Chip: a 24-hour a day, seven days a week, 65,000 square-foot casino. Check out www.bluechipcasino.com for a virtual tour (be prepared for breathtaking eye candy) of their vast range of entertainment facilities. So be sure to make those hotel reservations, book that spa appointment and grab those tickets when they go on sale March 5th. Blue Chip Casino’s first annual “Brewfest” is destined to be a runaway success and serve as the kick-off to many more Fests for years to come. Act fast before tickets sell out!
