ith 300 days of sunshine each year and a mild sub-tropical climate, situated equidistant from Africa and Europe and with excellent flight con-
nections from all over Europe, the 3640 square kilometres that we call Mallorca has, throughout its history, been visited by many different civilizations, attracted to the island by its wealth of possibilities.
Mallorca has often been described as a mini-continent, where we can find all the different landscapes one can ima-gine: from the wide open beaches of Palma to the cliffs of the north coast, the romantic rocky bays dotted around the

coastline and the sand dunes in the south.
In the interior of the island, there are Mediterranean pine forests, with bushes and all kinds of aromatic herbs, alter-nating with fields that have been carefully cultivated over thousands of years and the Tramontana mountains, where one can breathe the purest air in unspoilt natural su-rroundings.
Renowned since the tourist boom of the 50’s as a summe holiday resort for millions of tourists, nevertheless, a large part of Mallorca’s most precious treasures remain, as yet,

undiscovered by the majority of visitors.
Most tourists visit the island in summer, when they can enjoy the sun and the island’s magnificent beaches, but it is from March to May and from September to December when Ma-llorca offers its Spring and its so-called “Winter Spring”, a mild climate with average temperatures of 20ºC, making the-se months the most pleasant ones for enjoying the island’s innumerable charms. The great natural highlight of the sea-son is in March, when almost seven million almond trees are covered in white and pale pink blossom, creating incredibly beautiful landscapes.
Greeks, Romans, Phoenicians, Vandals, Arabs, Aragonese, Catalonians and Castilians have all occupied the island in the past and left their marks, which can be seen in the ar-
chaeological sites from the Bronze Age (burial and/or de-fence mounds, dating back more than 3000 years), Arab remains, such as the Arabian baths in Palma, Roman cities,anthropological and entertainment interest. Some of the most well-known are the Moors and Christians festivals in Alcudia and Sóller, Saint Anthony in Sa Pobla and Ma-nacor, where the famous “demonis” (devils) dance in the streets, Saint Sebastian, in Palma and the Pancaritat-Festa del Angel (feast of the Angel), which consists of pilgrimages in various villages all over the island.
Easter week, with its processions, is one of the most famous celebrations in Mallorca, the most important ones being in Palma and Artá, amongst others. There are also various me-dieval markets and all kinds of concerts, theatre plays and

other events held throughout the year, making Mallorca an exciting hive of cultural activity.
Furthermore, we must not forget the island’s extremely varied gastronomy, with locally produced sobrasada (spi-cy sausage), ensaimada, (a sweet pastry) wines, olive oil, sweets, honey, cheeses and many more delicacies, as well as numerous restaurants serving all kinds of different cuisi-nes, especially Mediterranean and international.
And after a good dinner, there is nothing better than enjo-ying a drink at one of Mallorca’s many varied clubs, terraces or bars - the perfect end to a hard day’s work, relaxing in elegant, sophisticated or lively surroundings.
All this and much more, only a couple of hours away from the main European capital cities, with an infrastructure sui-

table for all kinds of business events, meetings, conventions or congresses. Mallorca is renowned worldwide as a top tourist destination, which has developed a degree of know–how not only applicable to resort holidays but also giving the island even greater future potential as one of the most interesting places in Europe for out of season tourist groups.

OUR GOALS AND TARGET GROUPSMeetings tourism (congresses, workshops, incentive trips, conferences, seminars, forums, courses, etc.) comprises a segment that represents an adequate seasonal component for the Balearic Islands, due to their good infrastructures, installations, tourist offer and connections by air, as well as the high spending capacity of this kind of tourist for the Is-lands.
Due to the peculiarities, demands and requirements of meetings tou-rists, the MICE product is considered by many to be the most attractive in the tourist sector. Nevertheless, the conventional sources of commer-cialisation are different and belong to a very specialised sector.
To be able to gain a position in this market and promote one’s product, it is necessary to infiltrate very carefully and this requires a definite, specialised strategy. In order to successfully promote a destination in Europe, it is essential to determine exactly to whom we wish to direct our message. In MICE Media, we divide our potential clients into three main groups, which form part of our own database of more than 5000 companies:
*Consortiums: These are groups such as American Express, Carlson Wagon Lits, Lufthansa Citycenter (LCC) and others, which have tradi-
tionally dominated contracting for large corporate events, congresses and conventions through their various delegates in the main European countries. Finding and contracting them is, in the first instance, easily accessible and transparent, as they are important organisations, but it is much more difficult to contact directly the persons responsible for contracting in the different areas.
*Implants: These are of exceptional strategic importance. Implants function as internal travel agencies within large corporations and com-panies and they decide the destinations for ALL corporate travel i.e. all the company’s or corporation’s meetings, incentives, congresses, etc and it requires continual work on a long-term basis to find them, get to know them and establish a professional and personal relationship with the key contacts.
*Independent Organisers: In contrast to traditional tour operators, there are many cases in the MICE segment where small and medium event organising companies have clients who are very important on an inter-national level. Brands such as Porsche, Mercedes, Audi, BMW, Bayer, Pfitzer, Sony Ericsson or Vodafone are examples of how some compa-nies entrust the organisation and contracting of their business trips to small, specialist organisations, which offer a very personalised service, tailor-made to the specific requirements of their VIP clients.
* International Golf Tour operators, a segment closely related to MICE, as practising this sport represents the perfect complement to any cor-
porate event.
To gain access to all of these in the most effective way, MICE Media has developed a promotion strategy, which currently includes the following actions that have already been put into practice in Majorca and Ibiza.
MICE MALLORCA ANNUAL GUIDEAn annual guide, the aim of which is to promote meetings tourism on a worldwide scale, providing information on Majorca, its municipalities and its specialist tourist companies: hotels, restaurants, specialist inco-ming agencies (DMCs), meeting centres, professional congress orga-nisers (OPCs), audiovisual and hostess companies, caterers, etc., all of whom have the necessary experience, professionalism and quality to guarantee the organisation of an excellent and unforgettable event.
The guide is available in printed and digital V-Card formats to be distri-buted in trade fairs and other events, as well as online in the web portal.
WWW.MICEMALLORCA.COMThe www.micemallorca.com portal has been designed as a tool for ad-vanced consultation. It includes more information than the printed gui-de and is available in two languages: Spanish and English.
It provides all meeting planners with updated information on news of the destinations through periodical newsletters, thereby generating con-tinual informative hits.

MICE MEDIA WORKSHOPSFor the past three years, MICE Media has held one2one Workshops, providing the ideal setting for getting to know companies from different countries, who bring, or are planning to bring groups to Majorca and Ibiza.
This event aims to set up personalised meetings lasting 15 minutes, between specialist MICE buyers, who have been invited from various European countries, and vendors of installations and establishments in Majorca who are our clients, in order to establish direct lines of colla-boration and contracting.
In order to do so, MICE MEDIA has personally chosen and invited va-rious companies specialising in the organisation of events from Ger-many, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Spain, France, Holland, Hungary, Italy, Portugal, the UK, Russia and Sweden, amongst other countries.
The group of buyers includes agencies and independent professionals, persons responsible for large consortiums, implants in multinational companies, high level civil servants, corporate event planners and or-ganisers of vacation groups.
As well as the individual meetings, the invited companies enjoy a varie-ty of organised activities, to enable them to get to know the destination in the most varied and original way possible.
INTERNATONAL TRADE FAIRS AND ROADSHOWSMICE Media clients are represented with our own stand in the two top trade fairs, in the MICE segment: EIBTM Barcelona and IMEX Frankfurt. Personalised contacts and meetings are established in the-se trade fairs at a rate of more than 40 companies per trade fair, all of which are interested in the destination. A database and list of petitions are sent to our clients in a report which contains the preferences of the companies contacted and contact details of the same.The same procedure is applied for Roadshows in European capital cities, where appointments are made to visit more than 20 MICE agencies in order to personally present our destinations to them. In the same way as with the trade fairs, our clients receive a report on the companies contacted, together with their requirements.
OUTSOURCINGMICE Media offers its outsourcing services to Convention Bureaux and other institutions responsible for tourist destinations, who need to outsource the promotion of the same in the MICE segment, designing and implanting an action plan which will promote the destination in a favourable way against the competition, always in accordance with their budget and requirements. This action plan will include the orga-nisation of famtrips, press trips, workshops and the design and dis-tribution of guides and web portals, as well as representation of the destinations in the sector’s main international trade fairs. Thanks to its excellent climate, the community of Calvià offers a variety of cultural and sporting activities all
through the fall and winter like Hiking, Golf, Cycling, Athletics, Football, Rugby, Watersports and other Nautic
activities.
Situated in the southwesterly part of Mallorca, Calvià is the one community that with some 60,000 beds offers

Bicycle Routes and finally a Rugby Pitch are also examples of the many
attractions Calvià offers its visitors.
But this Mallorcan village also looks back at a rich history that becomes
evident in its many cultural and natural heritage sites, its relevant arquelo-
gical treasures, country estates and defense towers. Impressive natural and
ecological values of the community are being represented by the peninsula
of Cala Figuera and Na Burguesa. With more than 80% of the municipality
declared as rustic territory in the national property register, Calvià benefits
from important protection legislation – including the Serra de Tramuntana
Mountain range, which has recently been included in the UNESCO list of
World Heritage Sites.
It was with the same interest that the municipality of Calvià recently purcha-
sed the historic country estate Finca Galatzó, an antique property measu-
ring 1401 hectares, located at the foot of the area’s highest peak, the Puig
de Galatzó (1026m). It is one of the best preserved properties of its kind
in the Balearics, and as it represents almost 10% of the municipality’s
rural property, it can without a doubt be considered one of the green lungs
of the island, Mallorca’s home to a wide variety of botanical and ornitological
species.
As a public property, the finca is open to all visitors free of charge and at any day
of the year. For hiking aficionados, many well-marked trails are criss-crossing
the expansive estate.
On a more mysterious side remains the legend of “The Count of Bad”, an
evil nobleman who was the second Count of Santa Maria de Formiguera (XVII
century) and who according to folk tales rode a green horse around his pro-
perty. Local guides take pleasure in introducing him in their own humorous
ways to all tourists interested in gaining more knowledge about the myth of
the famous Count.
It is exactly this long history that is still very much present in the popular
local fiestas, like for example “Les Festes del Rei En Jaume”, that take
place in Santa Ponsa every year during the month of September. Tourists
and residents come together to celebrate the anniversary of the landing of
King James on the Mallorcan shores in 1229, to conquer Mallorca out of
the hands of the Arabs.
For this occasion the beach of Santa Ponsa becomes the battleground for
the re-enactment of the historic “Battalla de Moros y Cristianos” (Battle of
the Moors and Christians), very common in many Spanish coastal towns.
Thanks to its hospitality and gracious welcome, Calvià is also home to re-
sidents of 100 different nationalities, who bring their own traditions and
festivals to the area. A favorite among them is the German Oktoberfest,
which transforms the town of Paguera into an entertaining German-style
village during two weeks in the month of October.
By definition, Calvià is a municipality full of surprising finds, and natural
beauty that has survived the test of time. It is up to you now to make the
first step, to come and enjoy getting to know what is Calvià.

The Galatzó Public Estate is located on the west of the island of Majorca, in the municipality of Calvià, nearby the
village of “es Capdellà”. It is one of the largest farms of the Balearic Islands, with more than 14 million m2, located
at the site “Paraje Natural de la Serra de Tramuntana”, declared World Heritage Site by Unesco.
The relief of Galatzó is developed around a valley, crossed by a stream and flanked on both sides by mountains,
outstanding the Puig the Galatzó (1026 m), and the Mola de s’Esclop (925 m).
Since May 2006, the Galatzó Public Estate is a municipal ownership. Since then, visitors can enjoy its landscapes,
its biodiversity and its rich archaeological, architectural and ethnographic heritage. Hikers can find a network of
over 35 km of roads and forest trails well marked, enabling them to walk and enjoy the natural environment of
Galatzó and connect with the great hiking route in the Serra de Tramuntana, the GR221.
Also, the Public Estate´s visitor will be able to make a tour through the valley’s history, walking through the various
heritage elements located in the territory, from archaeological sites dating from the Bronze Age to the traditional
Galatzo’s houses, documented from the Middle Ages. Stand out too, the variety of ethnographic heritage items,
particularly those destinated to the agricultural and forestry uses, as well as hydraulic systems to supply water to
the estate, and allow tourists to approach the lifestyle of a tipical agricultural and livestock exploitation.

Calvià, is one of the richest municipalities of Majorca, with regards to the historic, artistic and natural heritage.
Looking carefully, it’s possible to observe in the Calvià`s landscape, the tracks, over history, have left its inhabi-
tants. Samples of this heritage are the archaeological sites, testimony of the first people living on this territory. The
abundance of archaeological sites, and the recovery made in many of them, makes this area a priviledged point to
see the diversity of cultures and peoples who occupied the Balearic Islands during prehistoric times. The “Naveta
Alemany”, the Archaeological Park of the Puig de sa Morisca, the “Túmulo de Son Ferrer”, or the Roman village
of “sa Mesquida”, are a good example. Another of the municipality´s strong points , focuses on the ethnographic
heritage, consisting of many elements for exploitation of agricultural, forest and sea resources. Farm houses, barns
tithe, flour mills, lime stone ovens, coalmines , hydraulic systems as waterwheels, wells, qanat/s, and others, are
present in the rural landscape. Moreover, the geography of the area allows the existence of various ecosystems
resulting in a large natural heritage that visitors can access through projects such as birdingcalvia or hikingcalvia,
designed for observation and enjoyment of this biodiversity.
Both, the natural and culture heritage of Calvià, can be known through the 60 km of trails waiting to be toured
by visitors.

The island’s landscape is marked with bays, beaches and cliffs on the coast, whilst the interior is characterised by typical Mallorcan villages and mountains reaching heights of 1.500 meters. HERITAGEIn times gone by, the island was coveted by Romans, Arabs and pirates. It was the Catalonian monarch, James I, who ended the Mediterranean island’s Muslim rule in the 13th century and to whom we owe Palma’s most important buildings. The old quarter was built behind the ancient city walls, which repelled pirates and corsairs, and set in the bay which is named after the city. Ancient churches, palaces and mansions depict a past marked by prosperity. Opposite the Cathedral is the Almudena Palace, which was previously an Arabian palace and residence of the Mallorcan monarchs but has now been converted into a museum.Following the path of the Passeig Sagrera, we arrive at the Es Baluard museum of modern art, with a collection of works featuring the most significant international tendencies from the end of the 19th century to modern day. This centre also exhibits the works of artists such as Cézanne, Gauguin, Picasso, Tàpies, Kiefer and Barceló, amongst others.Crossing the Plaza Major, we walk through the old quarter, visiting the Plaça de Cort, the Council Offices, the Palau Vivot and the church of Santa Eulalia. The baroque structure of the town hall, commonly known as Cort, was previously a 16th century hospital. Two kilometres from the centre of Palma, we come to Bellver Castle, situated on a tree-covered hill overlooking the bay. Its name comes from the old Catalonian words bell veer, meaning
“beautiful view”. These are some of the places not to be missed. Fishing boats, pine groves and palm trees surround the most beautiful monuments.
CULTURE AND FIESTASApart from the being a typical Sun and Sand destination, Palma has many other facets. Culturally, it has a wealth of art galleries and museums, such as the Pilar Miró Foundation, the Joan March Foundation, the Bartomeu March Foundation, the Barceló Foundation, the Casal Solleric, the La Caixa Foundation in the Gran Hotel and the Es Baluard Museum of Con-temporary Art, amongst others.Palma is also known for its fiestas. Located in Palma’s historic old town on the sea cliff where the Roman city was built, its imposing situation overlooking the bay makes it the first thing to catch the visitor’s attention on arrival at the port of Palma. Its silhouette stands out above the city walls and other buildings, making it one of the landmarks of Palma’s sea front.The origins of the Cathedral’s construction date back to the 14th century. The building occupies an area of 6,600 square metres, and is 121 me-tres long and 40 metres wide. It is calculated that the Cathedral can hold 18,000 people. Its central nave reaches 44 metres above the ground, making it one of the tallest gothic cathedrals in the world. The slen-derness and simplicity of its pillars and walls accentuate the interior’s sensation of space and weightlessness, making it one of the rooms with the broadest proportions in Christendom. There are 90 stained-glass windows, 7 of which are rose windows. These separate the sun’s white rays of light, bathing the interior surfaces with colour. Its biggest rose window, with an area of 100 square metres is one of the largest examples in the world of a gothic rose window.The Cathedral is the see of the Diocese of Majorca, but it is also, and has always been, one of the most important buildings related with the island’s social and cultural life. A receptacle of art, culture and tradition, its interior displays the mediaeval mysteries of Gothic art, the humanist proportions of the Renaissance, the splendour and virtuosity of the ba-roque and the sobriety of classicism. However, if there is one thing our Cathedral can boast about is that it has always evolved throughout the centuries. Its form and function have evolved, adapting themselves to new times. Sailing since 1841, she is the oldest active vessel in the Spanish Registry of Shipping.
Built in Ibiza and launched on the 15 April 1841, she has faithfully served for a century and a half delivering cargo between the Ba-learic Island’s ports, to and from Valencia, Barcelona, Marseilles, Naples and Algiers

Having recovered the architectural style of C’an Marcel, the rooms have been transformed to create an ambience reminiscent of the splendour of the Baroque era in which this house was originally designed a special celebration to which we are all invited, as well as the opportunity to visit a house built in the characteristic Majorcan style.

ABACO
ABACO is situated in the Lonja area of Palma’s old town. Its name comes from the enormous abacuses of the pillars in the entrance hall, where in the olden days horses and carriages used to pass through. The patio in the entrance is completely covered, except for a small rectangle at the side. The other side of the patio opens out onto the garden, of which only a small part remains. A spectacular staircase rises from the entrance hall up to the house itself, as the ground floor was only used for dismounting. In the patio, or entrance hall, there is a bar with a rectangular counter, tables and chairs covered with XVII century Majorcan style cloth, and old paintings. There are also some modern surrealist paintings, which pro-vide the only contemporary touch here, yet they do not spoil the overall effect, as their colour, theme and trompe l’oeil technique give the sensa-tion of having been there always, as if forming part of the structure. The-re is a huge chimney in the patio, as well as sculptures, ceramic dishes, religious articles, etc., all illuminated with a multitude of candles and adorned with fantastic fresh flower arrangements. On the top floor of the house, there are a further two rooms decorated in the same style, with large paintings – some of which are old copies of Italian masters – sculp-tures and comfortable armchairs where clients can sit and enjoy their drinks in an ambience steeped in Mediterranean culture: its colours, climate, music - everything that could come from Rome, Florence, etc. The magnificent kitchen, which has been fully restored, is also open to visitors and is full of local ceramics and copper pots and pans and there are two impressive Rococo cornucopias on the main staircase. Salvador Palao Baños, who created and decorated Abaco, searched for all these items in antique shops all over Spain.
The rooms in ABACO are furnished with antiques, blending in perfectly with the style of the mansion and surrounded by matching ceramics, cloths, bronzes, carpets and a unique compilation of paintings, etchings and sculp-tures, all combining to create an attractive collection, constantly revived with fresh flowers, fruit and plants, thereby creating a bucolic and lyrical ambience, which differentiates it from a typical museum.
Walking through the doors of ABACO, we are transported into another era. It is hard to decide whether you are on the set of a Visconti film, or whether you have entered a time machine, or if it is all a dream, but reality quickly sets in.
Both the Majorcans themselves, as well as the island’s many visitors, enjoy visiting ABACO, because it is like stepping back into another age, full of me-mories of when everything was natural and authentic, and all accompanied by classical music which creates an ambience reminiscent of the scene of a magnificent opera..

Son Termens is a “possessió” (a large Majorcan estate) that has always adap-ted to the times without ever losing its natural elegance and beauty and has always preserved the special attributes of an aristocratic mountain finca (rural property). With several fully furnished dining and event rooms that can cater for 10 to 1,500 guests, Son Termens is the perfect place to make your event special and unique. From the very beginning, the wines have achieved national and inter-national awards as well as recognition that is admired both in and out of Spain. More than forty awards in the last 10 years (most of them gold medals) support this winery and the philosophy of the owner to never stop surprising those who decide to taste his wines.
Miquel Gelabert continues to pioneer the research of the local wine varieties and the use of grapes from other regions.
THE VINEYARDS
The winery is made of 10 small farm lands with 9 hectares of vineyard. They are situated on the island of Mallorca with the majority in the region of Manacor and the remainder in Fe-lanitx and Petra. All of the land has been registered with the local regulatory council of the area known as D. O. Pla i Llevant de Mallorca. The grapes used for the whole production are grown in these lands. None of the grapes are bought externally from third parties, allowing the winery to be in complete control of the whole process from the cultivation to the harvest.
To this day the winery grows more than 30 varieties of grapes, some of them still in an experimental phase.
In 1985 Miquel Gelabert founded the winery named af-ter him and known as “Vins Miquel Gelabert”. It was established to research and improve the growing of the vineyards in order to produce the best quality wine. Mi-quel combines the art and traditional techniques from the old winemakers with modern technology in order to make the most and the best from his grapes to offer wines with personality and unique character.

OUR WINERY
The winery is registered with the number 3 with the local regulatory
council of the area or D.O Pla i Llevant de Mallorca. It is a small and
family-owned vineyard that only produces 30,000 to 35,000 litres per
year depending on the harvest.
The harvest of grapes is completely manual gathered in producing
boxes of 15 kilos. In the oldest vineyards (from 4 to 65 years), the
grapes are collected on the basis of their maturity which means that
sometimes the harvest is repeated more than once
The use of temperature and the condition of the grape guarantee a
production that respects the peculiarities of each variety. The fermen-
tation of the wines is made without the help of selected yeasts so it is
solely the grape that will define the character of the wine.
The ageing of the wine is made in barrels of 225 litres made of 80%
French oak, 10% American oak and 10% oak from Caucasus. The
barrels are renewed o 30 to 40% every year, except in case of the wine
vine which ageing is done in new barrels every year.
The ageing of the red wines and the ageing in bottle is done in a sub-
terranean cellar dated from 1909 where the silent and the tranquillity
together with the perfect temperature and humidity conditions make it
an ideal place for the ageing and the preservation of the wine.
