MI-212 Family of Standard Gain Horns (SGH) are available to cover the frequency range from 0.32 to 170 GHz. The horns are constructed of aluminum for waveguide sizes from WR-2300 through WR-62, and from brass for waveguide sizes from WR-51 through WR-7. They are plated prior to painting to prevent corrosion. Gain Accuracy: • MI-212-0.32 through MI-212-1.7 ±0.5 dB • MI-212-2.2 through MI-212-110 ±0.3 dB Applications The primary application for these horns is experimental gain determination of an antenna by the substitution method. Gain measurements with the standard gain horn and antenna under test are made by alternately connecting the two antennas to a matched receiver. Received power levels are equalized either with the precision IF attenuator in the wide range receiver, or with a precision variable RF attenuator. Each standard gain horn includes a gain chart depicting the horn’s gain across the frequency band it covers. Assembly The MI-212 Standard Gain Horn product family is divided into several models. Most standard gain horns are available in two configurations: • MI-212 Standard Gain Horn (only) • MI-210 Standard Gain Horn + Coax-to-Waveguide Adapter (pre-assembled) Additional Assembly Components: • MI-211 Coax-to-Waveguide Adapters (CGWA) 1 • MI-212F Standard Gain Horn Mounting Flanges 2 • MI-212M Standard Gain Horn Mounting Cages 2 • MI-212AP Standard Gain Horn Absorber Panels 2 For frequencies up to 90 GHz, MI-211 Family of Coax to Waveguide Adapters (CWGA) are available to mate with the MI-212 SGH. An MI-211 CWGA can be ordered pre-assembled to the MI-212 SGH by specifying model MI-210. MI-212M Mounting Flanges and MI-212AP Absorber Panels are not available for MI-212-2.2 Standard Gain Horns and below. The complete model number, as shown on the Standard Gain Horn nameplate, contains a dash number that designates the frequency range. 1 MI does not provide Coax to Waveguide Adapters beyond 90 GHz. 2 MI-212F, MI-212M and MI-212AP models are shipped ready to install, with all fasteners and installation instructions

Introduction The MI-212 Family of Standard Gain Horns are usedin antenna test range applications, and have beendesigned todeliveraccurateand reliableantennagainmeasurements.

MI-212 Family of Standard Gain Horns (SGH) areavailable to cover the frequency range from 0.32 to170 GHz. The horns are constructed of aluminum forwaveguide sizes from WR-2300 through WR-62, andfrom brass for waveguide sizes from WR-51 throughWR-7. They are plated prior to painting to preventcorrosion.
