Big Welcome to Our New Priests! by Sis. Gina Agsalon

The flock of Mother of Good Counsel Parish bids farewell to its former shepherds Fr. Andy, Fr. Bong and Fr. Abet. As they say, all goodbyes mean new beginnings. Binyagan ng Parokya by Bro. Paeng Dionio

Our parish conducted the annual Binyagan ng Parokya last April 14, 2012. This project has always been envisioned as part of the yearly fiesta celebration. Members of different church organizations especially the Legion of Mary would go around the poor sectors of our parish searching for children who would be included in the program. This year, a total of forty children up to 11 years of age were enlisted in the mass baptism, some

of whom were siblings. Mem-bers of the Parish Catechetical Ministry conducted the Pre-Jordan Seminar for the parents & god-parents last April 13, 2012. We have always taken our inspiration from our Lord himself who said "Let the children come to me, and do not prevent them; for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these" (Mathew 19:14). We welcome the newly baptized children to our Community of Faith.

Getting to know...

SHEPHERD’S CORNER

FROM THE EDITOR

To the Church of God which is the Mother of Good Counsel Parish.

Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the risen Lord Jesus Christ.

Thank you for the warm welcome and enthusiastic support.

This year is declared by the Holy Father, Benedict XVI as the year of FAITH. The object of our faith is Christ Jesus our risen Lord. He is the heart and head of the Church. He challenges the disciples and us, the present ones to evoke a renewal of faith and confidence in the presence of Christ living among us.

The appearances of Jesus after the resurrection evoked faith in Him as the risen Lord. Our encounter with the risen Lord takes place within the community of believers, the Church of the

Mother of Good Counsel Parish. Our encounter with the risen Christ is an encounter of faith. The presence of Christ in our midst is also a sort of absence. "We proclaim his death until he comes". Our sinfulness both individual and collective, can get in the way of the Lord's presence and frequently it does But in spite of all this, the Lord is present with us. We should never forget that without the community of believers, the Church, no one would know anything about Jesus Christ at all., in spite of our failings, we do keep his memory alive, in spite of our half-heartedness we do make him present in our world, in spite of our difficulties and doubts we do proclaim our faith that he is our Lord and our God.

"My Lord and my God!"

By Fr. Agustin "Boy" S. Ty, OSA Parish Priest

By Sis. Rachel Ann Doreen Nadal

Welcome to the second issue of our parish bulletin! We, the Editorial team, would like to thank you for supporting our first issue and hope we can satisfy you as we keep you posted with new updates and information about the recent activities in our parish.

In the Bible, we came to know how the Apostles preached the Word of God everywhere they go, forming churches along the way. In the history of the Church, we also learned how our Church Fathers were in unity in faith and firm in their belief in Christ. Each of them remarkably contributed to the building up of the Church and the development of Christianity.

In this issue, we will not just update you with the latest happenings in our parish, but we will reveal some interesting facts about our four new priests of the parish – Fr. Boy, Fr. Jing, Fr. Vincent and Fr. Eli, so that you can get to know a little

bit more about their lives, their work and contri-bution in the community, whom we can refer to as our new Fathers of our Church.

As laity of our community, we have to do our part to help and pray for them so that they will have the humility, courage and conviction of the faith to carry on Christ’s mission.

May you be enlivened as we continue to bring you good news and better services from our parish. Enjoy reading!

SCHEDULE OF MASSES I. MGCP Mortuary "When one man dies, one chapter is not torn out of the book, but translated into a better language." – John Donne

And what better place to be last seen by loved ones than in God’s abode?... The MGC Parish Mortuary was constructed during the time of Rev. Fr. Dominador Besares, OSA.

It was relocated recently to a more ideal place within the church building by Rev. Fr. Andres D. Rivera, OSA.

This mortuary “provides its parishioners the accessibility and convenience in the observance of the wake of their departed loved ones within the parish.”

The Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) manages the operation and administration of the Mortuary.

The PPC formulated policies and procedures for its use including peace and order, sanitation and cleanliness in the area and its vicinity. To implement the guidelines, the Mortuary Administrative Committee (MAC) was created with PPC overall coordinator/president, the PPC Treasurer and chairmen of Worship and Temporalities Committees.

Some of its guidelines are as follows:

A. Applications are processed during parish office hours only:

1) The applicant, in behalf of the deceased, must be a member of the Roman Catholic Church.

2) Parishioners of MGCP and their immediate family members may use the mortuary.

3) For simultaneous applications, “preferential approval shall be for the deceased who was active in Church activities. If both deceased are active or not active, approval shall be on a ‘first come, first served’ basis.”

B. Costs/Fees

1) First Day – P2,000 (upon signing the Memorandum of Agreement or MOA)

2) Succeeding Days – P1,500 per day (12nn-12nn of the following day);

maximum of ten (10) days (to be paid on the final day of the wake)

C. Other important details may be found in the MOA.
