The attendance numbered nearly 100. After Deep Prajawalan and Vande Matram (by 2 young trainee girls of Smt. Madhu Seth of Janakpuri) Smt. Shashi Azad compered the programme. General Secretary's Report and Financial Report for the year 2011-12 were adopted. In this context it was decided that hereafter all branches would send State & Centre share ONLY THROUGH THE STATE. Centre's share should not be sent directly to them. The Oath of office was then administered to the newly elected officials of the BVP (Delhi South) by Shri Madan Malik. In fact all those present took the oath as they all felt that they are also newly elected office bearers. With this the new team comprising of Smt. Shashi Azad (President), Shri K.B. Mahajan ( General Secretary) and Shri K.C.Sud (Treasurer) took over and the mike was handed over to the undersigned. Breaking the tradition, the outgoing team viz. Shri M.L. Arora ( President), Smt. Shashi Azad (Genl. Secretary) and Sh. Nalin Kohli (Treasurer) was given a warm send off by presenting them shawls. Shri B. L. Parashar who has been recently decorated as VIKAS S AMARPIT w as also honoured by the other VIKAS SAMARPIT veteran Shri S. K. Rastogi. Newly produced Directory of Members was then formally released and copies thereof were distributed to all present. It was mentioned that advertisement revenue has exceeded the estimated expenditure on the Directory by about Rs. 11000/-. It was immediately decided that this amount will be spent for VIKAS SANDESH which would be in all colours hereafter. Then started the programme of actual training. Shri B.L. The annual Karyakarta Karyashala (Workshop) was organized at DAV Public

thSchool, Yusuf Sarai 0n 20 May, 2012 at 9.30 a.m. The workshop was graced by

Dr.R.K.Thakur, S/ShriMadan Malik,Chairman, Zone III, B.L. Parashar, the recent VIKAS

SAMARPIT, V.D.Khullar, the other Vikas Samarpit S.K.Rastogi, D.N. Grover, D.P. Chanana and representatives and office bearers of almost all Branches of BVP Delhi (South). The attendance numbered nearly 100.

After Deep Prajawalan and Vande Matram (by 2 young trainee girls of Smt. Madhu Seth of Janakpuri) Smt. Shashi Azad compered the programme. General Secretary's Report and Financial Report for the year 2011-12 were adopted. In this context it was decided that hereafter all branches would send State & Centre share ONLY THROUGH THE STATE. Centre's share should not be sent directly to them.

The Oath of office was then administered to the newly elected officials of the BVP (Delhi South) by Shri Madan Malik. In fact all those present took the oath as they all felt that they are also newly elected office bearers.

With this the new team comprising of Smt. Shashi Azad (President), Shri K.B. Mahajan ( General Secretary) and Shri K.C.Sud (Treasurer) took over and the mike was handed over to the undersigned.

Breaking the tradition, the outgoing team viz. Shri M.L. Arora ( President), Smt. Shashi Azad (Genl. Secretary) and Sh. Nalin Kohli (Treasurer) was given a warm send off by presenting them shawls. Those who spoke included S/Shri V.K.Malhotra (Dental Van), Dr. Piyush Sharma (Bharat Ko Jaano), Smt. Promilla Grover (Mahila Sahbhagita), Madhav Sharma (Blood Donation) and Smt. Madhu Seth. For the Dental Van it was emphasised that all Branches must requisition the van for their respective areas. Shri K.B.Mahajan spoke briefly about Eye Donation( 149 donors) and VIKAS SANDESH.

The last and most interesting section included distribution of Appreciation Certificates among various Branches and Conveners for their work during 2011-12. A list of awardees is given at page 7 in this issue.

Smt. Shashi Azad, our President proposed a Vote of Thanks for everyone especially Smt. Lily Saini and her staff for making all the arrangements for the function. Dr. R.K. Thakur and other seniors were profusely thanked for sparing their time for the function.

The function came to an end after National Anthem. Everyone dispersed for lunch thereafter.

Bharat Vikas Parishad, Delhi (South) organized another thKaryakarta Karyashala after a gap of merely 18 days, on 9

June, 2012 at Shri Ram Mandir, C3 Block Bus Stop,

Janakpuri, New Delhi.

May-June being months of school vacations, it was felt that this is the right time to approach school principals for our school related projects viz. NGSC/NSGSC, GVCA and Bharat ko Jaano. Our Branch executives can get these programmes

added to t he Principals' diaries. With this in mind it was thought to equip our Branch executives for these Projects with in-depth knowledge by our experienced seniors and fellow executives.This brain storming and highly

informal session lasting over 2 hours only was attended by Presidents, Secretaries of all Branches and conveners of these projects. Shri R.S.Pasricha, an authority having a long experience of over 3 decades in these areas, addressed the meeting regarding NGSC/NSGSC. Smt. Shashi Azad spoke about GVCA. Our State convener for Bharat ko Jaano, Dr.Piyuhsh Anand Sharma explained the knitty gritty of BKJ.

follow up and renewed strategies would certainly bear fruits. BVP literature should be given to the Principals and its salient Projects brought out extensively to instil interest there in.

Dates for various school related events were announced and are given in this issue at page 5. Dr. Piyush requested that requirements for question papers (Sr. & Jr.) school-wise must reach him by the middle of October so that printing work can be undertaken without any last minute scurry.

A total of 34 persons representing attended the workshop. Among seniors who graced the meeting included Dr. R. K. Thakur, Shri I. D. Ojha, Shri B. L. Parashar, Shri M. L. Gaur, Shri R. K. Aggarwal and Shri M. L. Arora

I thank all those who attended the workshop, particularly Shri R. S. Pasricha who came all the way from Gurgaon to address the gathering. Shri Vinay Bhatia, Joint Secretary, B.V.P. Delhi (S) deserves our gratitude for all the arrangements he made at the venue.

The Branch organised a Bal Sanskar Camp th rdfrom 28MAY '12 to 3 JUNE' 12 at Aravali

Community Hall, Alaknanda. The 7- day camp was for children ( 8-15 years). The camp offered a variety of benefits like improvement in mobility, co-ordination and building self confidence through

creative choreography, ways to retain information, etc. The program coordinated by Smt Neela Shukla & Smt Neeti Arora was a grand success. The guidance came from Smt Shashi Azad, President Delhi State (South).

A Post er making Competition for Junior & Senior categories was held

ndon 2 June. It was a pleasure to watch the young minds imploring upon the creative hands to produce a reflective thought. Whether it was 'Technology in our pockets', 'Teamwork', Making a difference', 'What freedom means to me', or 'Lessons from nature', their vivid expressions were a delight. Indeed judging the best one was an uphill task as each one was an individual masterpiece, said the judges, Smt. Sangeeta Malik and Smt. Shravani Das.

inaugurated by Smt. Rajni MamtaniCouncillor.102 students participated & learnt the art of Yoga & Pranayam from eminent Yogarcharyas like Sh. G. B. Sharma, Sh. M. L. Arora & Sh. P. D. Maheshwari. The Shivir was organized by Sh. P. N. Grover – Branch Advisor & Sh. V. S. Gupta, Organizing Secretary of this Branch. S/Sh. I.D. Ojha, B.L. Parashar, M.L.Gaur, M.K. Wadhwa, Smt. Meena Thakur, B. N. Malhotra, & Sh. R. P. Arora addressed the students on various days. On the concluding day of the Shivir our Branch honoured the Yogarcharyas & School Principals.

thOn 20 April 2012 Bharat Vikas Parishad Janak Puri (Main) Branch organized a talk on Health in the senior citizen meeting.

The main speaker in the meeting was Dr.

Rajeev Sharmawhoguided the members on physical problems of the aged. 62 members participated.

Competition. The competition was organized to educate Swami Vivekanand's teachings among the students. 108 students from 7 schools participated in the Competition. The main speakers in the function were Sh. B. L. Parashar & Dr. Meena Thakur eminent Social Worker. The dignitaries present were Dr. R. K. Thakur, Sh. M. L. Arora. Sh. B. N. Malhotra thanked the participants, teachers, dignitaries & members. Prasad was distributed among the participants. The convener of the competition was Sh. V. S. Gupta – Branch Organizing Secretary.

A Meeting of the General Body of the Branch was held at thShri Sanatan Dharm Mandir, on Sunday, 24 May 2012.

After deep prajwalan & Vande Mataram Shri M. K. Wadhwa, Branch President welcomed the members. In the meeting

The month of April was very hectic for our

Branch. We organised Ram Navmi (1 April)

Mahavir Jayanti (5 April) & Baisakhi (14 April).

All these programmes were well-attended. The

The branch organized a Kavi Sammelan on 5th May, 2012 in the premises of Arya Samaj, G.K.I Over 150 members heard and appreciated the participant Kavis. The function was presided over by Padamshree Shayam Singh Shashi and anchored by Dr. Rekha Vyas and Shri Vijay Gupt.

The Branch took special steps to take care of the health of members and public at large. In this connection the following measures were taken:

This was organized on 26th May in collaboration with Fortis Healthcare at Arya Samaj G.K.I The focus was diabetes, Thyroid, Weight loss, Osteoporosis, Hypertension and Cholestoral. 65 patients attended the Camp.

(a) This shivir commenced from 11th May and the classes are held 5 days a weekat 6.30 a.m. at R Block Park. It is open to all.

(b) Another yoga shivir organized exclusively by some ladies from 6.00 a.m. to 6.30 a.m. every day. This is held under supervision of our esteemed member, Smt. Manju Gupta.

During May, 2012 as many as 383 patients were treated with medicines by our doctor Geeta Garg.

: To commemorate the Shaheedi Diwas of the 5th Guru, Shri Arjun Dev ji, a function was organized on 25th May at R Block Park. Achievements of the Guru, his teachingsand the causes which led to his martyrdom were explained in depth by one of our esteemed members Col. (Retd.) K. R. Sabharwal.

Monthly General Body Meeting of the branch was organized on 29th April 2012 where 71 members attended the meeting. The members were entertained with Bhajans, songs, Ghazals, Kavitas, etc.

Receipt and Expenditure accounts reports (Audited) for the year 2011-2012 were presented to the members of the Branch approved by the members.

Our Branch Committee in its earlier meeting had decided to honour the senior and dedicated members of the branch who are 80 years and above. In our General Body Meeting held on 29-04-2012, four members were especially invited of which two members were present & honoured.

In addition to senior members, founder and dedicated members of the branch were all honoured by presenting a Shawl and momento by our Central and State leaders viz S/Shri I.D. Ohja, B.L Prashar, K.B. Mahajan and K.C. Sud. Chairman and General Secy of Geeta Mandir S/Sh S.K Choudhary, K L Singhal and other prominent citizens of the area were also present.

Birthday of nine members who were born in the month of April was celebrated in usual Indian traditional of Pooja by Panditji.

Monthly General Body Meeting of the Branch was held on 27th May, 2012. 64 members attended.There were Bhajans, Gazals, songs and Kavitas by our esteemed members, viz. Kanchan Bhalla, Vijay Behl, V.D.Sharma,B.S.Sharma, J.R.Dass, Dr. Vikram Chopra, Mukesh Mittal and V.k.Sudan.

Our Executive Committee, in its earlier meeting had decided to honour senior and dedicated members of the Branch who are 80 years and above. In this series our Patron Shri Kuldeep Seora and Shri M.P.Saxsena were honoured with shawls and momentoes in the meeting.

Birthday of 13 members who were born in the month of May was celebrated in the usual Hindu tradition by Pandit ji. They were all blessed with a healthy and long life.

Nine members including President, Gen. Secretary, Treasurer and conveners attended the workshop on 20th May at DAV Model School, Yusuf Sarai.

A sewing machine was donated to a poor and handicapped lady by one of our members in the Meeting.

Our Branch won 7 positions as mark of recognition of our achievement in various fields for the year 2011-12.

A shivir, attended by large number of members was organized on 27-5-2012 at BD/BB/Block Sanatan Dharm Mandir. Highlight of the Shivir are as follows.

i) The children of the Sewa Bharti school presented highly impressive Dance items.

ii) A Cheque of Rs 50000/- was presented to school authorities for their requirement of Copies during 2012-13.

iii) Shri Naresh Dhingra, a reputed social activist gave a very thought provoking talk on the subject "Brashtachar Mukt Bharat. There was huge applause and appreciation

v) Help the Needy : A sewing machine to needy women and hearing aids to person were presented.

Five Dental camps were organized during May, 2012 benefiting 56 dental cases and 6 de-addiction cases.

Development Camp)

During May 2012, 4 such camps in which 207

children of 10-14 age group participated,

were organized.

Sewa

Medicines being collected at different collection centres,

set up by the branch and also collected by its functionaries

directly from the public are being regularly donated to

“CHIKITSA VIBAGH” of Sewa Bharti, Delhi for onward free

distribution among the needy.

Yuva Sanskar Cum Awareness Camp

A special camp attended by 80 participants comprising

children of ongoing Personality Development Camp and a

fairly large number of Senior Students of A Block Janakpuri

from 10 AM to 4 PM duration was organized at Ashirwad

Banquet Hall. Members of the branch and a good number of

parents of participants were present. The programme

conducted by S.P. Bhatia started with “Deep Prajavalan “

followed by singing of 'Vande Matram' and “Saraswati

Vandana”. Thereafter “Saraswati Poojan” was performed by

offering rose petals at the feet of “Maan SARASWATI” by one

and all present in the hall. Shri K.B. Mahajan, G.Sec. BVP

Delhi (South) was kind enough to spare sometime from his

busy schedule to attend this programme. Undoubtedly his

very presence proved to be the morale booster of the

organizers and children alike. Shri Abhishek from “Art of

Living” conducted the “Dhyan Session”. Children of the

ongoing CPDC presented melodious song “SANYAM MEY

JEEVAN HO”. Shri Mohan Seth, Patron of Branch, spoke on

“Simple, SATVIK, NUTRITIOUS DIET” which has direct

bearing on “SHUDH ACHAR and VIHAR” which ultimately

stands in good stead to face the hardships harsh realities of

Ex. Vice Principal of S.D. Guru DHRONACHARYA Degree

College, Gurgaon and a special invitee spoke on “ Seemingly

SMALL THINGS which matter more” to lead a successful and

purposeful life. Keeping cleanliness, water saving and

environment in the focus, the children were divided into

different groups. Each group was given a topic for on the

spot painting competition. The seniors wee briefed in detail

about the 5 day Summer Camp being organized by “Durga

Vahini”, Delhi. Light refreshment was served very

magnanimously by Sh, Mohan Seth and the programme

camp came to close at 4pm.

Praud Sanskar/ Sr. Citizen Care: In a regular monthly

programme all our worthy colleagues whose birthday falls

SHRI GURU ARJAN DEV JEE'S BALIDAN DIWAS was

celebrated in the overflowing Hall of Shri Hari Mandir. Dr.

G.S. Sehgal, Director (Education) of SRIRAM INSTITUTE OF

TEACHER, EDUCATION, Dwarka, briefly threw light on the

life and Balidan of Shri Guru Jee . Mrs DEVINDER KAUR

GANDHI, a senior member of the Branch along with her

associates from Gurudwara Singh Sabha, A1 Block,

Janakpuri presented melodious “SHABD” pertaining to the

life and deeds of Shri Guru Jee which kept the audience

spell bound in all pervading atmosphere of Spiritualism. Dr.

R.C. MISHRA, Ex. Reader from D.U. who has also authored a

book on Shri Guru Jee, in his illuminating and thought

provoking talk made a fervent appeal to take a leaf from the

great Guru Jee's life for remaining stead fast in our resolve

to tread the path of truth even at the risk of our lives.

Mrs Madhu Seth, President, proposed a vote of thanks. After

the light refreshment the meeting came to close.
