EXHIBITION REFLECTIONS

ANDREA SALTIEL- March 8th 2011 Today we went to 5E (Ms. Bernadette's) to do a survey about social development. They were very interested in our survey. They wrote very different answers and I think that answers will help us a lot with our survey and exhibition. I am looking forward to the next survey! March 10th 2011 Today we went to Mr. Jordan's class to do a survey about social development the class understood really good our questions and likes our presentation. We also explained things about exhibition!! I am looking forward to the next survey with 2nd grade. March 28th 2011 Today we are organizing all are information and we are also creating our graph that is going to have all the information from are surveys. We are going to organize are graph by grades and if they are a boy or a girl. I am very focused on it and I am looking forward to every thing a lot. WE ARE REALLY EXCITED !!

SOFIA ELIZAGA- March 8th 2011 Today my group and me went to Ms Bernadette class 5E and we did a survey in our topic (social groups) It when really good and I think we can get lots of information from all are different surveys. We will get better and better with all of the information we have and are going to get. March 9th 2011 Today we went to Ms Stephanie's class 4E and we had lots of fun making the survey and we also explained to her class about exhibition and I think they were also looking forward to next year so they did the same of us. March 10th 2011 Today we went to Mr Jordan's class 3A and it was really interesting because they had really different ideas as the 5th graders so when we put all of are information together and see all the different perspectives. Tomorrow we are going to 2nd grade and we really want to know what they think about social groups. And next Friday we will go to are last class in 1st grade Ms Ana Maria 1D. May 3rd 2011 Today we are in the library and we are watching the interview we did to Miss Claudia Ortega. Andrea and Pablo are going to edit the video in Spanish time while Mark and me will plan are next thing to do and that way we wont get behind and we will do more stuff. We need to find a way to talk to Mr. Mike ‘cause we know think it’s only an extra work cause my group and me think he isn't helping a lot. We need to talk with him and tell him what we think and maybe we will come to an agreement and he can stop being are mentor and tell him we will talk yo him if we need anything more or he will keep helping us.WE ARE REALLY EXCITED !!!!!

2MARK ZICHLIN-

March 10th 2011 We have gone to 3 classes Ms.Bernadette, Miss.Stephanie, Mr. Jordan.We still need to go to Miss Ana Maria and Miss Fleck. We got lots of information from our survey.We have worked really hard doing student questions. March 14th 2011 So far we have gone to every grade except 1st. But on Friday March 18 we are going to Miss Ana Maria's class.We already have the 1st grade questions that's what we did today. I think we are going in a good phase. I like my group because we work together, cooperate and we are a pretty good team.I am soooo EXCITED about Exhibition!!!!!!!!!!!! March 17th 2011 On Friday were going to Miss Ana Maria's class. I'm very excited. Our mentor Mr Mike told us to go to middle school to interview it is very exciting. March 24th 2011 We have been working really hard on our student questions answering theme. I am really excited to finish our questions. March 28th 2011 We are making a graph to help us guide in our research.But separating boys and girls. WE ARE REALLY EXCITED !!!!!

Exhibition Reflection March 10th Our group went to Ms. Bernadette’s class 5E,Ms. Stephanie’s class 4F and Mr. Jordan so far. Tomorrow we will go to Ms. Fleck.We have been really successful in the surveys. I think we are going to get a lot of information. March 17,2011 On Friday we’re going to Ms. Anne Marie’s class. After this I think we’re going to go to middle school and high school with Mr. Mike. I think we’re going to have lots of fun researching and doing the surveys. March 24, 2011 Today we’re trying to make a graph from all the information we got from the surveys.But we still are waiting for Mr.Mike so he could tell us when to go to middle school,high school and the teachers surveys.We’re really excited to go to all surveys and too we need to organize the cards by grades.We’re going to have so much fun! March 28,2011 What we’re doing is making a graph of all the information we got from the surveys. We’re still waiting for Mr. Mike and classifying the survey answers.WE ARE REALLY EXCITED !!!!!

4SHORT STORIES

ANDREA SALTIEL-

LAST SUMMER IN CAMP “Mom let’s go!” said Jade. “Yeah this will be the best summer ever!” They packed all their things and got on the car. 5 long and boring hours went by. “Finally” said Beck. “Yeah let’s go and unpack our things” said Jade. It was an old, scary, big and dirty cabin… “Everybody, wake up it’s time to do some fun activities” said the counselor. They were both very excited to start the first day of camp! It was a sunny day, everybody was smiling. “This is really fun!” said Beck. “Yeah ha ha ha!” Jade laughed in a funny loud voice. It was late now and everybody had to return to their cabins. Beck and Jade were walking calmly till they bumped into a strange, tall and big man. He didn’t smile and kept walking as if nothing had happened. Jade and Beck were very scared but kept walking to their cabin. It was a cold and dark night. Beck and Jade were sleeping calmly. Until someone knocked on the door… “Open the door” said Beck still sleeping. “Okay I’ll open” said Jade in a clumsily voice reaching for the door. “Who is it?” Jade asked in a quiet but clear voice. But no one answered. Jade opened the door slowly…

Both couldn’t see anything it was dark and smelling bad. They were both kidnapped; they really didn’t know who it was. They both got

bumped into trees and may plants. Until they got to the middle of the forest it was really cold. Someone opened a strange door; it was the man they bumped in! They were both really scared and didn’t know what was going on… They got kidnapped by the man they bumped into last night! Nobody saw Jade and Beck again but some people say is that man that suspicious man called Thomas. From that scary night more children have been disappearing from their cabins not knowing where they are now!

6 SOFIA ELIZAGA- WAS HE DEAD? “Kate wake up, it’s time to go down and practice” her mom said. “Mom I'm actually very tired and I don't feel like playing tennis today” Kate said .” “I do not care, coach Mark is waiting for you downstairs”

her mom told her with a very strong voice. “Okay,Okay” Kate said as she got out of her cozy bed. “Good morning, I hope you had a very nice sleep because we are going to work very hard today” Coach Mark told her as as they were both having breakfast. “Yes I actually did” Kate said with a grumpy voice. When we got downstairs and entered the tennis court, it was different. Every thing was dark and cold, not as usual. “We need to practice a lot you have the biggest tournament on the world in 2 days” Mark said. “Yes, as you can see I am the 2nd best tennis player in the world. But everyone in my family, even my coach wants me to be number 1”. It was 2 days of very hard practice and then the day came. “Are you ready?” Mark said. “YES!! I'm going to win Martha and get enough points and beat her, that way I will be number 1 in the whole world”. I entered the court with a very big smile in my face but then I saw him. That face, those eyes. “No..no..no! Please, no!” I told myself in a very soft voice. “It was him. Why did I have to see him for the first time in 6 years, TODAY?”

7 My dad! My dad! I could not believe it. Wait, I had to focus on my game. I was missing one more shot and I would win the big game and be number one but then it happened. Some one called my dad and when I was ready to win, he went out running and I missed my last shot. But what I really lost was my concentrating cause for Martha it

was really easy to win the last game. After the game I really didn't care about it, I just ran at my mom and hugged her. “Mom!! Mom!! Did you see him?” I said so worried “See who?” she said. DAD !!! “Kate do you feel all right?” “Yes Mom, yes I do. But really I saw him he was watching me play and then he left when I was about to win. I am not joking!!”. “Honey dad is dead, do you remember?”. her mom said with a very soft voice. “Mom I saw him, really I did”. I said all freaked out. And the next thing I did was fall down to the floor. “Come on Kate come on, wake up!!”. What happened? “You fainted wile you were saying silly things about some thing you should not be joking about”. “Mom it’s true please believe me, he is not dead I saw him! “Enough this is just enough we are going to go back to the hotel and you will take a very long sleep and reflect on every thing you are saying and apologise to everyone because of what you were joking about and you will also talk to coach Mark and tell him what happened because this is just NOT normal! Okay?”. “Yes but mom..” “I don't want to hear it”.

8 “Fine!”. I grabbed my stuff and went down where a car was waiting for me. When I got to my room my mom was talking to coach Mark. “Good

night Kate have a nice sleep,and we will talk tomorrow” they both said as they got out of the room. “Sure”. I murmured. I really couldn't sleep because I felt so bad about the way I talked to my mom. So I got out of bed and went to her room. When I was in front of her room I knocked and no one answered, I knocked again. “Come in”. my mom said. “Mom I am really sorry about what happened”. but as I closed the door and tried to see her face... my dad was holding her and in his other hand he had a very sharp thing. Dad! I said all excited. “Kate don't get close to him, I am really sorry I didn't listen to you. I love you, so please listen”. “Why I don't understand”. “Kate just run!!”.“Please don't, Dad no”. “Sorry” He got that sharp thing in my mom’s chest and took it back of. “Kate are you okay”, Mark told me as he came running in. “Jack? I can’t believe it, how? Why?” “Let’s just say I'm taking revenge from every thing you 3 did to me, Gloria, Kate and you” “I honestly don't understand weren't you dead?”. “That's what they said but look her I am, and you two are next so don't worry you can run from me but remember just one thing I will always know where you will be”.

9 “Dad, please don't do this I'm your daughter!!!” “I'm sorry, and Kate one more thing you were my daughter because know you are just Kate to me”. “But why are you doing this? It’s not fare”. “Life is not fair, and you will figure out why am I doing this”. “Please dad!” But in a second he

was not in the room any more, just Mark, my dead Mom and me.

Back to the past

Once upon a time there was a very peaceful cowboy. His name was Ace. He was from USA it was the year 1894.

One day on his birthday he was opening his presents, they were all

very nice. One more was left. With his excited face he opened the box and before he new it he was in the future to the year 2031.

A women found him and took him home. He was asleep and when he woke up he felt weird, he said to himself: “What a huge house!”. Sofia was eating, “How are you feeling?” asked Sofia. “Good” Ace replied. “What’s your name?” Sofia asked. “Ace”, he replied. “Where are your parents?” “Where I come from” he said sadly. Sofia said “then I will take care of you” for now. “You will start school tomorrow”. The next day it was school time. He was excited! His teacher’s name was Miss Andrea she was really nice but she always laughed. There he met Jessica the cutest girl ever. She liked him too. They were boyfriend and girlfriend and everything was going perfect. It was his birthday again. Everyone came even a weird guy he didn’t know. He must be Sofia’s friend, but he wasn’t. When he was opening the presents, he saved the biggest for last... When he opened it he was swallowed back to the past.

The Ice Cream Man

It was an ordinary day. Jared was doing homework. It all seemed to be alright until the Ice Cream Man passed and everyone was buying his ice creams. Jared wandered “Why is everyone buying his ice creams if they taste like worms?”.

I started thinking there’s need to be something. So then an idea came to his head and right away he jumped and shouted “His song,his song!His song was really good maybe that’s what it is! I even have to accept is good.”His song is: “I am Ice Cream Man selling little ice creams with my van.” But he was almost sure it was that but he needed to be completely sure. So the next day he realized a lot of people were missing. But he saw Chad was there. Chad was Jared’s best friend. So then Jared asked “Where is everyone?” “They got sick because of that Ice Cream Man” he replied. “Do you know how could that Ice Cream Man had that much attention?” “I think is that song that is hypnotizing everyone,because when I passed barely that way I felt hypnotized for a moment.” “We need to get at the bottom of this.” he continued. In the afternoon of that same day, Jared planned going over to Chad’s.

12 When he was on his way, an idea came to his head. He thought about it, he thought, thought and thought. Until he shouted “I got it!” When he got there he explained everything to Chad and he said with excitement “brilliant!”. “ Okay see you tomorrow at 4:30” Jared replied. The next day he was getting everything ready the earmuffs, the rope and a cellphone. After school Jared met Chad. Jared asked him “Are you ready?!” “I was born ready” he answered. 1 hour later they were almost ready to go. It was 4 o’ clock. They were getting out of the house. When they got out they started hearing the music and as soon as possible they put on the earmuffs. “Close one.” Jared

said wit relief. “Let’s keep on going” Chad said. As they kept getting closer and closer they would get nervous and nervous. They got to the van. “You know what you’re doing I know what I’m doing.” Jared said. Jared was getting the back of the van and Chad was going at the front. When Chad got to the front he started distracting meanwhile Jared was opening the door slowly. When he opened it all he threw the rope to him and he shouted with excitement. “ We got him!” “ Now let’s call the police.” Chad continued. When the police got there they felt like heroes. So they explained everything that happened and everything came back to normal. But meanwhile in jail the Ice Cream Man was giggling.

ANSWERS- 1- No mucho, solo por los medios de comunicacion,(face book, tweeter etc) Not much, just because media,(face book, tweeter etc) 2- Ser positivo y ser un apoyo para cada uno. be positive and help everyone.

3- Cambia los intereses, valores y permisos. The way you think and the permissions you have. 4- Por el sentido de pertenencia. so you can feel that you belong somewere. 5- No es tan importante como se gente piensa que es. It’s not that important even though people think it is, but it’s actually not. 6- Sentirte adecuado, y hacer el (clik) con la persona. Feel confident, and make the little (click) with the person. 7- Lo que te “atreves” a hacer o “decir”. What you do or say. 8- Si afecta en ti y mucho por que ellos te educan desde chico. Yes it does affect you ‘cause they know you since you are little and they teach you lots of things. 9- Por la diferencia (pertenencias) entre la gente. Because of the diferent things that people do. 10- Todo depende de como te sientes con las personas que estes. Depending on how you feel when you are with “your friends.”
