1. DeviceCare Installation

a.. To download DeviceCare registration is needed. Download DeviceCare: http://www.metso.com/DeviceCare

b. Unzip/Extract the installation fi les before running application DCSetup.exe

c. Select “I agree” to accept the license agreement and then press next.

d. Select the installation path and confi rm if adding a DeviceCare link to the desktop.

e. Click next to start the installation process. A computer restart may be required. A few windows may ap-pear asking to approve installation of i.e. Softing commDTMs, click “Install” to approve. Once complete click the “X” button to close the setup.

2. DTM Installation

a. If there is a prior version of the DTM package installed, use Windows “Add or Remove Programs” utility to uninstall “Metso Automation Device DTMs”.

b. To download DTM registration is needed. Download the latest Metso Device DTM’shttp://valveproducts.metso.com/download/dtm

c. Unzip/Extract the installation fi les before running application Setup.exe

d. Follow the prompts and accept the license agreement to complete the installation.

e. DeviceCare DTM catalog update:

i. Note: DeviceCare will automatically update the DTM catalog so no additional steps are required

ii. View the DTM catalog by clicking on the settings icon

3. Initial Setup

a. For a HART modem:

i. Install any required device drivers for your HART modem

ii. Connect the HART modem to the computer. The “Add Hardware” wizard will match the device to the installed device drivers.

iii. If using the MACTek VIATOR , ViT HART modem or Microlink PN 101-0027, no additional setup is needed skip to step 4.

iv. For other HART modems, determine the COM port of the modem:

v. On the desktop, right click on Computer (My Computer) and select Manage

vi. Select “Device Manager” in the left pane and expand “Ports (COM & LPT)” in the right pane

vii. Take note of the COM# displayed next to the HART Modem.

b. For Foundation fieldbus:

i. Install NI-FBUS communication manager

c. For the NDX USB adapter:

i. Install the USB adapter driver

ii. Install the USB adapter commDTM

4. Connecting to Field Devices

Automatic – for the MACTek VIATOR or ViT HART

a. Run DeviceCare by double-clicking on the Metso DeviceCare icon

b. Connect the HART modem up to laptop and connect the clips anywhere in the 4-20mA loop. Ensure that the fi eld device is powered up (typically >4mA)

c. Click on the Automatic button

d. DeviceCare will now scan for the device, select the correct device DTM, go online with the device, and open the DTM window.

e. Follow the manufactures instructions for use of the device DTM.

f. Once you have completed with the fi rst device, connect the HART modem to the next physical device

then press the home button and start again from step C.

Assistant – for any other HART modem

a. Run DeviceCare by double-clicking on the DeviceCare icon

b. Connect the HART modem up to laptop and connect the clips anywhere in the 4-20mA loop. Ensure that the fi eld device is powered up (typically >4mA)

c. Click on the Assistant button

d. Click on the required Protocol for communication, i.e. HART

e. Click on the modem connected to the device, i.e. Microlink HART

f. Confi gure the modem. Click on Advanced | Serial Interface and select the COM #.

g. Click Scan. DeviceCare will now scan for the device, select the correct device DTM, go online with the device, and open the DTM window.

h. Follow the manufactures instructions for use of the device DTM.

i. Once you have completed with the fi rst device, connect the HART modem to the next physical device

then press the home button and start again from step C.

DeviceCare can save device data to a device report fi le or DTM XML export fi le . It shall be noticed that to save all data to Device report or DTM XML export fi le fi rst Select Program functions | Read from device shall be done.

a. Saving a Device Report:

i. Select Device Report | Save device report. A dialogue to select saving location and fi le name will be displayed. Select location and defi ne fi le name. Click “Save” to save report in PDF format.

ii. Select Device Report | Print device report. A preview of the report will be displayed. Click “Print”. Select a printer to print a hard copy or select a PDF printer driver to save as a PDF. Press Print.

b. Saving to DTM XML fi le

i. Select Additional functions | Export. Dialog will ask location to save XML fi le. Select location, set fi le name and press save.

i. Select DTM Tools functions | Export. Dialog will ask location to save XML fi le. Select location, set fi le name and press save.
