Waseem-ur-Rehman Khan O ur religion Islam tells us that this world is a prepa- ration ground for the world hereafter, which is our per- manent abode to live in. One should keep this lesson of Islam in mind. At the same time I also recall William Shakespeare’s poetry fa- mous line from ‘As You Like It’ spoken by Jaques that “All the world’s a stage”. This was my les- son which I studied when I was a student of English literature. Now the need to write this piece came to my mind when my sincere col- league and brother Omar Daraz passed away peacefully a day before his death, saying me “see you tomor- row”, I replied “inshallah”. But who knows that day would never come and he left us gloomy and sad. No doubt, everyone has to leave this mortal world one day but some people are so lovely that their departure to our next destination leaves us sad and gloomy. Omar Daraz, a pious, straight forward and polite man, who worked as personal assistant to our re- spectable Chief Editor of Tijarat Group of Publications Jamil Athar Qazi. He was so devoted to his work that he never allowed wastage of any office items, in- cluding undue elec- tricity use. My acquaintance started with him when I joined Daily The Business in 2012 which later developed so quickly that it now seems that our relations were from our childhood. He used to wait for me daily at my duty time and whenever I was a bit late his first question was “Khairiat thee” (all is well). His words used to give me a sense of closeness which is rare and not so common nowadays. The qualities of Omar Daraz were so many but his knowledge, interest and inclination towards Islam attracted me the most. I used to spend some time with him be- fore starting my office work to hear Islamic teachings and something new. He was in the habit of col- lecting some religious guidelines from Urdu newspapers for me and used to convey me like a teacher. I am indebted to him to what I have learnt from him and what he told or taught me. I have no words but to pray for the eternal peace for Omar Daraz soul and courage to the bereaved family to bear this loss. —ameen.
