MetroNODE 10GE NE

Network Element (NE) Node is a high capacity, low delay OAM aggrega-tion node designed for core network applications, including both core to core and core to edge. Capable of handling 100’s of Ethernet Virtual Con-nections and 1,000 individual OAM sessions, the NE is ideally suited to aggregate service assurance connec-tions from NIDs located throughout the network.

MetroNODE 10GE CE

Customer Edge (CE) Node is a 10GbE demarcation device suitable for deployment at the network edge. With line rate traffic conditioning and simple to provision VLAN service cre-ation features, the CE is a cost-effec-tive alternative to deploying a 10GbE switch/router at the customer edge of the service connection.

Wire-Speed 10GbE Performance The MetroNODE 10GE nodes deliver high performance service assurance monitoring to mission-critical, high-density, 10GbE applications. They feature Accedian’s Fast-PAAs™ hardware-based engine at the core and an architecture proven in the widely deployed EtherNID® and MetroNID® service assurance demarcation units.

Purpose-built for the needs of 3G & 4G wireless backhaul, business services, wholesale access and inter-carrier exchange services, the MetroNODE 10GE nodes provide scalable wire speed Y.1731 and 802.1ag Ethernet OAM, as well as layer 2 & 3 monitoring. This is complemented by bandwidth policy enforcement and VLAN-based service mapping to deliver total visibility and control for a10GbE network infrastructure. 

The Fast-PAAs silicon core ensures quality of service (QoS) marking, enforcement and traffic conditioning on the highest capacity network links. Fast-PAAs eliminates the delay of store-and-forward processing of Ethernet switches and routers providing the lowest de-lay solution available today. This enables the MetroNODE NE to effortlessly handle 1,000s of flows in a full line-rate link with mere microsecond transit time.

ApplicationsPurpose-built for demanding, high-density, QoS-sensitive applications, the MetroNODE 10GE shines under traffic loads that can choke other network elements. No matter how intense it gets, this unit delivers performance with precision.

3G & 4G Wireless BackhaulWith support for 100 concurrent, per-flow OAM sessions at the edge (CE) and 1,000 flows at the Mobile Switching Center (NE) the MetroNODE 10GE platform provides standards-based visibility to every tower, for every class of service. Assuring vital SLAs, the in-service Performance Assurance Agent™ monitors Ethernet & IP QoS over point-to-point, hub-and-spoke and full-mesh topologies to every cell site, as well as over critical transport links in the Evolved Packet Core (EPC).

Carrier Ethernet service mapping, and bi-directional hierarchical bandwidth policing enable the MetroNODE 10GE NE node to establish, terminate and optimize up to 100s of EVCs in near-zero delay.

Used in conjunction with the EtherNID, MetroNID or MetroNODE 10GE CE service demarcation units located at remote cell sites, the MetroNODE 10GE NE aggregation unit enables providers to monitor and guarantee QoS levels for all the services deployed throughout their backhaul network.

High Capacity Wholesale Ethernet AccessProviding cost-effective, ubiquitous 10GbE services often requires extending services over Ethernet Virtual Connections (EVCs) over Ethernet wholesale circuits provided by 3rd party network operators. To take advantage of this rapidly growing market, carriers need efficient 10 GbE hand-offs at the External Network to Network Interface (ENNI). Add-ing nearly no delay while providing CoS mapping, H-QoS, multi-layer VLAN tagging, Ethernet OAM and complete SLA monitoring, the MetroNODE 10GE unit offers opera-tors a turn-key, service assured wholesale solution that’s fully compliant with the MEF 20 UNI-Type 2 standard.

With Accedian Networks’ EtherNID or MetroNID units located at remote customer sites, providers can assure QoS to off-net customers and use Ethernet wholesale to expand their service footprint.
