Metrofuser’s Whole Business Model is Based on Recycling and Reuse Metrofuser reclaims, remanufactures then resells end of life components from office imaging machines such as laser printers and copiers. Our business model is designed around acquiring these assets which are otherwise destined for landfills and stripping components such as electronic boards, mechanical and electrical components from them. Once these components are removed, Metrofuser carefully remanufactures them to reintroduce the newly remanufactured part into the office IT ecosystem. Most of the components of these machines can be reused and reintroduced back into the ecosystem up to a half-dozen times. The residual effect of that alone significantly reduces the amount of electronic office equipment waste filling our landfills daily. Recycling through Remanufacturing Metrofuser proactively collects and even purchases defective and end-of-life office machines and their components. Metrofuser feeds these assets into a comprehensive remanufacturing program, where they are rebuilt to a “like-new” state. Quite often, Metrofuser’s engineers resolve many of the original factory flaws, thus increasing the life of the component and enabling Metrofuser to provide a “better-than-OEM” component and longer-than-OEM warranty. Finally, these parts are sold on “Exchange” – Metrofuser’s customers are given a discounted price on the remanufactured component if they promptly send the defective component back for remanufacturing, completing the cycle. Continued Commitment Metrofuser’s recycling commitment does not end with it’s remanufacturing program. Most of the parts that are replaced within the remanufactured components are made from widely recycled plastics and metals such as aluminum, gold, tin, brass, etc. Each part that can be recycled is removed and sold to recyclers across the state and country. Metrofuser will always be committed to exploring new recycling opportunities. The company will continue to expand its program by raising awareness and increasing the rate of electronics recycling among its business consumers in the United States. Optimally, the goal is to achieve a 100% recycling rate, and to improve and continue to expand the program until that goal is met. Last year the imaging recycling industry saved 131 million pounds of solid waste from our nation’s landfills. This proprietary upgrade has been implemented in the production of our fusers resulting in a 98% reduction in film failures. Service companies and resellers now have access to a low cost, high quality fuser that will not let them or their customers down.


F o r m a t t e r B o a r d s / S e r v i c e R e s e t C o d e s Metrofuser upgrades every board and printer's firmware to the most current revision when necessary. Our PC's are loaded with current drivers for testing all I/O ports. We take the time to ensure full functionality of every board we repair (parallel & serial interfaces, USB ports, network ports, expansion slots, feeder options, etc.) Accessing the Service menu The Service menu is PIN-protected for added security. Only authorized service people have access to the Service menu. When you select SERVICE from the list of menus, you are prompted to enter your 8-digit PIN number. Use the service PINS below to access service mode when prompted.

1. Press up arrow or down arrow until the first digit of the PIN is displayed. 2. Press check to save the digit. The display will replace the digit with an asterisk. 3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 until all eight digits are entered. 4. Press check at any time to move to the previous digit.

Frequently Asked Questions A b o u t R e m a n u f a c t u r e d F u s e r s WHAT IS A REMANUFACTURED FUSER? Remanufactured fusers have been recycled and reprocessed from an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) core. The process differs by manufacturer and materials used with varying results in quality and page yields. Our remanufactured fusers are produced to stringent quality control standards, using lab-tested components to ensure consistent OEM-equivalent performance. WHAT IS THE PROCESS? A typical production process includes fuser core inspection, tear down then replacement of key components as needed such as the lower pressure roller, gear assembly, fixing assembly, bushings, entrance/delivery guide and film sleeve. One of the most critical elements of the fuser is the synthetic film undercoating. New aftermarket components are made specially for remanufactures to have a harder and more durable surface than the OEM. IS A REMANUFACTURED PART INFERIOR TO A NEW ONE? There should no difference in print quality or page replacement interval of a properly remanufactured fuser. Our fusers contain only quality fuser films, lower pressure rollers and other replacement parts to meet and most times exceed OEM performance. In January 2008 HP released a notice to all its customers declaring that it would not differentiate between new or remanufactured parts and that the customer could expect either when placing an order. If the OEMs believe the quality is equivalent so should the consumer.

WILL USING REMANUFACTURED PRINTER PARTS VOID MY EQUIPMENT WARRANTY? Law prohibits manufactures from voiding their warranty obligations on the grounds: that the customer did not use the original manufacturer's replacement part. Manufactures can not legally require a printer owner or lessee verbally or otherwise to purchase parts exclusively new or from them. You have a right to choose. AM I REALLY HELPING THE ENVIRONMENT BY USING REMANUFACTURED FUSERS? Definitely. Each discarded fuser adds approximately 5-10 pounds of unnecessary waste to our landfills - waste that will take as long as 1,000 years to decompose. The office products remanufacturing industry has already made a substantially positive impact on the environment and the economy and will continue to do so. If a fuser does not meet expectations simply notify a customer service representative and return the part and a page sample showing the problem in the box it came in - Return it for evaluation and replacement. RETURN SHIPPING All parts are shipped UPS Ground unless otherwise specified. To insure safe handling, Metrofuser returns all repaired product in protective customized packaging. Freight, handling, insurance, C.O.D. and customs charges are not the responsibility of Metrofuser. Affix the RA number to the outside of the box and ship to our address. PAYMENT POLICIES Credit terms are available to qualified customers. Ask your Account Manager how you may qualify. For your convenience, Metrofuser accepts C.O.D. terms, VISA, MasterCard or American Express. All New Jersey accounts must provide a tax exemption certificate. Advance Exchange orders are credit card or terms only. Repairable cores must be returned to Metrofuser within 30 days or you will be charged for the difference between the exchange and new price. New parts may be returned to Metrofuser within 30 days from date of invoice; a re-stocking fee will apply. RETURN POLICY Metrofuser reserves the right to refuse any new OEM parts that are not returned in its original packaging within 90 days. To obtain full credit, returned packages must be unopened and UNMARKED. A restocking fee of $25 or 25% per item will be incurred for any returned parts which ever is higher. A $50.00 minimum is required for all orders. 100% WARRANTY Most repaired, exchanged or refurbished parts are warranted to be in good working condition for six months from date of sale. Parts for resale have a 90 day warranty. Metrofuser reserves the right to deny any warranty claim if the item has sustained shipping damage, was improperly installed or mishandled, tampered with or malfunctioning for any reason other than the original failure identified and repaired by the company. Metrofuser will, at its option, repair the part or if available, send out a replacement part to accounts that are current. PIN Codes for Newer HP Printer Models For these newer printers, you may first have to go thru the Service menu if instructions are not already shown. From the normal "Ready" state press SELECT to enter the menus, and then scroll to SERVICE and select it. In order to get into the Service Menu, you will now have to enter a PIN code (below), which is specific to the printer model.

1. Press the ‘up arrow’ and ‘down arrow’ keys until the first digit of the PIN is displayed. SELECT moves you to the next digit; if you make a mistake, the 'left arrow' key allows you to go back and correct it. 2. When you select the final digit, you will enter the Service Menu (the 9000 also has a numeric keypad which gives you the option of entering the PIN code directly). Once you're in the menu, scroll to the appropriate maintenance count and set it to all zeroes using the same procedure that you used to enter the PIN number (on the 4200 and 4300, the arrow keys will increment the entire maintenance count, rather than one digit at a time). 3. Then back out of the menu with the 'left arrow' key, and you're done.

How to Upgrade Firmware Via USB

Before you can send a firmware upgrade through the USB port, you need to know the name of the computer the printer is connected to and you need to enable printer sharing. The following steps are for Windows® XP. Other versions of Windows operating systems are similar, with slightly different operations. Find out the name of your computer: 1. Click the Start button, Programs, Accessories, System Tools, and then choose System Information. 2. Find your computer's name in the right window-pane next to System Name. 3. Write down this name as it will be needed later. Ex: computer1 Share the connected printer: 1. Click the Start button, Settings, then Printers and Faxes. 2. Right-click the printer you need to send the upgrade to, then choose Sharing. 3. Choose the radio button labeled Share this Printer. 4. Type a name for the share. Make it short and easy to remember. 5. Click Apply and write down the share name, as it will be needed later Ex: HP LaserJet mfp printer How to send the firmware upgrade using a USB connection: 1. Open a DOS Command prompt - In Windows NT® 4.0, 2000, or XP, click Start, Run, then type CMD and press OK, or in Windows 9x click Start, Programs, Accessories, and then click MSDOS Prompt - locate the directory where you saved the firmware file. 2. Type: copy /b filename \\computer name\share name (include spaces) Ex: copy /b ljXXXmfpfw_OX.OOX.X.rfu \\computer1\HP LaserJet mfp printer 3. Press Enter. NOTE: When the upgrade process has completed, the LaserJet will reboot. Once the printer is back online, print a Configuration Page and verify that the new firrmware has been installed.


To configure TCP/IP parameters from the control panel, use the following instructions:

HP LaserJet 2300, 2400, 4200, 4250, 4300, 4350, 9000, 9050 and Color

LaserJet 4600, 4650, 5500, 5550 & 9500 printers

1. Print out a configuration page before undertaking this

procedure. Retain the EIO/Network/JetDirect Configuration Page (usually the 2nd page). This page contains the settings you will need to enter to complete this procedure. If you are unable to print a configuration page, consult with your network administrator to obtain these settings before proceeding.

2. Turn the printer off. Install the new JetDirect card and connect the network cable.

3. Turn the power on and wait for the printer to reach the READY or ONLINE state.

4. Press .

5. Press or and scroll to 'CONFIGURE DEVICE'.

6. Press or and scroll to 'I/O'. Press .

7. Press or and scroll to 'EIO 1, 2, OR 3' (if

HP LaserJet 4000, 4050, 4100, 4500, 4550, 5000, 5100, 8000, 8100, 8150, 8500 & 8550

7. Press SELECT. 8. Press ITEM until 'CFG TCP/IP = NO' appears. 9. Press VALUE until 'CFG TCP/IP = YES' appears. NOTE: The CFG TCP/IP = XXX (XXX being YES or NO) is a

toggle, not a permanent setting. Changing it to YES allows the settings to be changed at that time. It will appear as CFG TCP/IP = NO each time this menu is accessed.

10. Press SELECT. 11. Press ITEM until 'BOOTP = YES*' appears. 12. Press VALUE until 'BOOTP = NO' appears. NOTE: When using BootP or DHCP, keep the setting BOOTP =

YES *. The BootP or DHCP server will configure the TCP/IP parameters on the HP JetDirect. No other TCP/IP configuring is necessary.

13. Press SELECT. The following three steps apply to the HP JetDirect 610n cards

only: a. 'DHCP=YES' appears. b. Press VALUE until 'DHCP = NO' appears. c. Press SELECT. NOTE: When using DHCP, keep the setting DHCP = YES *. The

DHCP server will configure the TCP/IP parameters on the HP Jetdirect. No other TCP/IP configuring is necessary.

14. Press ITEM until 'IP BYTE 1 = (value*)' appears. 15. Press VALUE, until the desired value of the first byte of

the IP address appears. By pressing and holding VALUE, the value will scroll rapidly (HP LaserJet 4000, 5000 and 8000 printers have a MINUS button to decrease the value).

16. Press SELECT to save the value. 17. Press ITEM to continue. Repeat Steps 11-13 to configure

the remaining bytes of the IP address. 18. Repeat Steps 11-13 to configure the subnet mask bytes

('SM BYTE 1='), syslog server IP address ('LG BYTE 1='), default gateway ('GW BYTE 1='), and timeout ('TIMEOUT=').

19. Press ONLINE, GO or MENU. Print a self-test page to verify the IP settings.

20. If the test page does not show the correct settings, power cycle the printer and reprint the test page.


HP Maintenance Message Reset Methods To clear the Maintenance Service Message from the LCD display:

HP 4,4+,4v,4mv,5,5L,5P,5MP,6L,1100,1150 1160,1320,1200,1300,2100,2200,23OO These models do not have a service mode therefore no maintenance kit reset. You can only perform a cold-reset continuous self-test, and or NVRAM Initialization. HP 5Si: 1. Press MENU key 4 times for CONFIG MENU 2. Press ITEM to display SERVICE MESSAGE=OFF 3. Press ENTER 4. Press ONLINE Note: this message will only appear in the Configuration Menu if the PERFORM USER MAINTENANCE message appears. HP 4000/4050/4100/5000/5100 Printers: 1. Turn the printer off 2. Hold down the left side of the ITEM and VALUE +/- keys, turn the printer on and wait until RESET MAINTENANCE COUNT is displayed and then release the keys. HP 4100MPF/4101MPF Printers: 1. While holding down the START button, turn the machine on. 2. The 3 LED's will blink, and then stay lit. (Release START button at this time) 3. Press the UP arrow key. Display will read MAINT COMPLETE. 4. Press the CHECK button once, and the maintenance counter is reset. 5. Return to Online HP 4200/4300 Printers: 1. Turn the printer power off. 2. Hold down SELECT, and turn printer power on. Continue holding down SELECT for several seconds, until all 3 printer control panel lights flash once, and then remain on. (This may take up to 10 seconds). 3. Use (Up Arrow) to scroll to NEW MAINTENANCE KIT 4. Press SELECT to reset the maintenance kit counter. HP 3015/3020/3030/3330 MFP Printers: 1. Make sure that the control-panel display reads Ready. 2. Press MENU/ENTER. 3. Press 2 on the keypad. Note: You can gain access to the secondary service menu from any other menu by pressing 2. 4. Use the < or > button to navigate the secondary service menu. 5. To exit the secondary service menu and remove it from the menu tree, press CANCEL to return to the READ display, and then press CANCEL again.

HP 4240/4250/4350 Printers: 1. Turn the printer power off and then on. 2. When 000MB (beginning of the memory-count) appears on the control panel display, press and hold down SELECT (checkmark button). Continue holding down SELECT until all 3 printer control panel lights flash once, and, then stay on. (This may take up to 10 seconds). 3. Release SELECT and press (Up Arrow) to scroll to NEW MAINTENANCE KIT. 4. Press SELECT to reset the maintenance kit counter. HP 4345mfp, 4730mfp, 9000mfp/9040mfp/9050mfp Turn the printer on. Once the printer starts counting the installed memory press and hold the #6 button until all three LEDs flash once and stay on. Once the LEDs stay on release the #6 button and then press the #3 button once and release it, then press the #6 key again to select “New Maintenance Kit.” After this is completed the printer should reinitialize. HP 8000/8100/8150 Printers; 1 Press the MENU button until the display reads CONFIGURATION MENU 2. Press the ITEM button until the display reads SERVICE MESSAGE =ON/OFF 3. Select OFF* 4. Press SELECT to save 5, Turn printer off 6. Hold the VALUE MINUS and ITEM MINUS buttons while turning the printer back on Hold buttons down until display reads RESET MAINT/COUNT and then release both buttons. NOTE: Do not change the MAINTENANCE INTERVAL value, which is another option in service mode. This value is the interval at which a maintenance kit should be installed (350,000 pages on LaserJet 8000, 8100, or 8150 series). HP 9000/9050 Printers: 1. Turn the printer off 2. Press and hold the CHECK key 3. Power on the printer 4. Release the CHECK key after all three lights come on. The display should read SELECT LANGUAGE. 5. Press the up arrow until MAINTENANCE KIT is displayed, then press the CHECK key again and the maintenance kit count has been reset


HP Color MAINTENANCE MESSAGE CLEARING To clear the Maintenance Service Message from the LCD display:

HP 4500/4550 Printer 1. Turn the printer off 2. Hold down the CANCEL JOB and SELECT keys and turn the printer on, then wait until the display goes blank and the three LED's come on 3. Press the right side of the MENU key, then press the SELECT key. 4. You will enter SERVICE MODE after the normal test completes 5. Press the ITEM key until the FUSER MAINTENANCE COUNT appears 6. Press VALUE +/- to change to zero 7. Press SELECT to save 8. Press GO, the printer should return to READY HP Color LaserJet 4500/4550 Printers (FUSER KIT RESET) 1. Press the MENU button until the RESETS MENU is displayed 2. Press the ITEM button until FUSER KIT SELECT IF DONE is displayed 3. Press the SELECT button 4. Press the GO button to return to READY HP Color LaserJet 4600/4650 Printer (FUSER KIT RESET) 1. After Maintenance is performed, the display should read NEW FUSER KIT = 2. Press the down arrow to highlight YES, then press the CHECK button to reset Or enter CONFIGURE DEVICE in menus, choose RESETS then RESET SUPPLIES, choose NEW FUSER KIT and select. HP Color LaserJet 5500, 5550 (4700 & CP4005 message will only appear when the printer is asking for a kit.) With the power on press the down arrow button until the display reads “Configure Device” menu. Press the [SELECT] button and using the down arrow button scroll through this menu until the display reads “Resets” and press the [SELECT] button. Then press the down arrow button again until the screen reads “Reset Supplies” and press the [SELECT] button. Once you get to this menu this is where you can reset the fuser and the transfer belt maintenance life.

HP Color LaserJet 8500/8550 Printers (FUSER KIT RESET) 1. Press the MENU button until the RESETS MENU is displayed 2. Press the ITEM button until RESET FUSER LIFE COUNT is displayed 3. Press the SELECT button to reset 4. Press the GO button to return to READY

TRANSFER KITS

4700/4730 Transfers Kits Metrofuser’s ZeroSet Technology is built into this transfer kit will only clear the 'REPLACE TRANSFER KIT' message - it will not clear the 'REPLACE FUSER KIT' or 'REPLACE (color) CARTRIDGE' messages. Turn the power off before removing the old/bad transfer kit and installing this new transfer kit. This transfer kit will only reset the 'REPLACE TRANSFER KIT' message on the first printer it is installed in. Once this transfer kit has been installed and powered up, you cannot remove it and install it into another printer to clear another 'REPLACE TRANSFER KIT' message. ZeroSet technology will only work once, the first time it is installed and powered up.

4600/4650/5500/5550 TRANSFER KITS

If the printer's display panel reads "REPLACE TRANSFER KIT", replace the transfer assembly and perform the following procedure: Press the ' ' button until the display reads 'CONFIGURE DEVICE'. Press the ' ' then press the ' ' button until the display says 'RESETS'. Press the ' ' button. Press the ' ' button until the display says 'RESET SUPPLIES' then press the ' ' button. Press the ' ' button to select 'TRANSFER KIT' then press the ' ' button.


LEXMARK MAINTENANCE MESSAGE CLEARING To clear the Maintenance Service Message from the LCD display:

Laser Printer 10R/10 Plus, 12 Series, 16 Series, Optra R & L 1. Turn the printer off 2. Enter the Diagnostics Mode by holding down the READY and RETURN buttons while powering on the printer until the display reads PERFORMING SELF TEST 3. Select MAINTENANCE COUNT 4. Select RESET to return the count to zero 5. Press the RETURN button to return to the Diagnostics Mode main menu, then reset printer to normal mode Optra S 2420/2450/2455/3455 1. Turn the printer off 2. Enter the Diagnostics Mode by holding down the GO and RETURN buttons while powering on the printer until the display reads PERFORMING SELF TEST then release buttons. When ready, the display will read PRINT REGISTRATION 3. If the 80 SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE appears, press GO to enable the menus. Otherwise skip this step and go to step 4 4. Scroll to PRINTER SETUP and press the SELECT button 5. Scroll to MAINTENANCE PAGE COUNT and press the SELECT button 6. Scroll to RESET MAINTENANCE COUNT and press the SELECT button to reset the count to zero 7. Press the RETURN button to return to the Diagnostics Mode main menu, then exit Diagnostics Mode to return to normal mode Some models of the Optra S (12xx/16xx/18xx) may not have a maintenance message. These models will not have the RESET MAINTENANCE COUNT item in Diagnostics mode either. Optra T (All Models) 1. Turn the printer off 2. Enter the Configuration Menu by holding down the SELECT and RETURN buttons while powering on the printer until the display reads PERFORMING SELF TEST. After the self test, the display will read CONFIG MENU on first line of display and MAINT CNT VALUE on second line. (if the display is showing the 80 SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE message, you may have to press GO to enable the menu.) 3. Press the right arrow side of the MENU button until MAINTENANCE PAGE COUNT is on the display 4. Press the SELECT button. RESET should be displayed 5. Press the SELECT button again to reset 6. Press the RETURN button to return to the Configuration Menu and press the left arrow side of the MENU button to exit the Configuration Menu Optra T640/42/44 Press and hold the [Checkmark] and the [right arrow] button while powering on the printer. When PERFORMING SELF TEST appears in the display, release the buttons. The CONFIG MENU will appear in the display. Use the down arrow to scroll through this menu until you see RESET MAINT CNT and press the [Checkmark]. The display will read RESET When this happens, press the [Checkmark] button again, this will reset the maintenance counter. To exit out of this menu, just cycle the power on the printer.

Optra W810 1. Enter the Configuration Menu by holding down the SELECT and RETURN buttons while powering on the printer until the display reads PERFORMING SELF TEST. After the self test the display will read CONFIG MENU, 2. Press the right arrow side of the MENU button until MAINT. COUNTER is displayed 3. Press the SELECT button, then scroll to RESET TRANSFER or RESET FUSER and press the SELECT button again to reset 4, Press the RETURN button to return to the Configuration Men and press the left arrow side of the MENU button to exit the Configuration Menu Optra C710 1. Enter the Configuration Menu by holding down the SELECT and RETURN buttons while powering on the printer until the display reads PERFORMING SELF TEST. After the self test the display will read CONFIG MENU 2. Press the MENU button right or left until RESET FUSER COUNT appears 3. Press the SELECT button to reset the count Optra C720 1. Enter the Diagnostic Menu for all resets by pressing the GO and RETURN buttons and turn the printer on 2. Continue holding until PERFORMING SELF TEST is displayed 3. Select RESET COUNTERS from the Diagnostic Menu 4. Select the individual counter for reset and press the SELECT button Optra C750 1. Enter the Configuration Menu by holding down the SELECT and RETURN buttons while powering on the printer until the display reads PERFORMING SELF TEST.
