South Asia's first modern Metro Museum showcases the Delhi Metro. The Metro Museum at Patel Chowk Metro station showcases the genesis,

history and journey of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). India's first modern public transportation system, the Delhi Metro has revolutionized travel by providing a fast, reliable, safe and comfortable means

An invitation to theworld's first

METRO MUSEUMin an operating station

As the world's first such Museum, celebrating the revolutionary journey of milestone maker Delhi Metro in a functional Metro station, it will give you unforgettable insights into the journey thus far. Conveniently located at Patel Chowk Metro station, in the central business district of New Delhi, you can easily reach it by road or Metro rail itself.

As history is made see how it all happened at the Delhi Metro Museum

of transport in the city characterized by rickety vehicles

and unreliable operators. Metro museums can be seen

in only a few European, US and Japanese cities, but the

one at Delhi Metro is one of its kind in an operational

station set up in a short duration of two months.

photographs, newspaper

archives, models of the

trains, curios, books and

audio visual films tracing the

history of Delhi Metro and

once you enter inside the Metro

Museum, you will get to know

how the Metro system was set up.

The Museum has detailed records of

historic moments like the challenging construction of

the underground stretch at Chawri Bazar which is

considered to be among the toughest tunneling

projects in the world and the construction of the

Shahdara station which required huge relocation.

More than 400 families were moved out of the area

and shifted to Ghazipur to make way for the station.

Interesting records like how the first trains rolled into Delhi and how they were placed on the tracks, and about the driver who drove people on Delhi's first ever

Metro ride are tabulated with photographs and written records.

Two touch screen computers trace the Delhi Metro history visually, apart from an animative description of underground construction through tunnel boring machines and elevated construction methods using

launching girders
