Diabatic effects of the warm lakes will tend to steer the colder air away from a site surrounded on three sides by water.

The center of low pressure is an area of weaker winds and it takes awhile for the winds to pick-up.

In an increasingly windy, cold-advection environment, low clouds are common, but low visibility is not.
