How the northern echo will effect my product
GOLDEN RULES• Need to make sure the information I publish in my magazine is accurate
• Accept peoples privacy
• Need parents permission if taking photos of children under 16
• Must make sure I don’t have any humour that could discriminate against
anyone
• If I have any sensitive issues I must talk about them delicately
• Only 1 other competitive metal magazine that doesn't contain a few of my unique selling points such as my weekly article on a new and upcoming band and a free CD
• This magazine will be distributed freely with the Northern echo which will allow my target audience of ages 16-24 year olds to be able to get a magazine they enjoy as Metal Hammer the other Metal magazine is very expensive for young adults in education
• It allows un known bands to send in their music and possibly be in with a chance of getting it on a CD in issues of ‘Metals Creed’.
HOW THIS MAGAZINE FILLS A GAP IN THE MARKET
WHY MUSIC?• I have been playing guitar and piano for many years and have good knowledge in the
industry.
• I've read other music magazines and can see where they are lacking and what the audience would like to see in a rock/metal magazine.
• As I like rock and metal music I have the same interests as my target audience.
• Music magazines have a determined readership as so many people read and love music magazines, this means my magazine would have definite income and be popular.
AUDIENCE RESEARCH• The audience for Metals Creed are 16-24 year old male and females
• Socioeconomic group - B-D
• Tribes- skaters, gamers, emos, metal heads and young
alts
• Problems caused by my target audience
-Need to be careful of imagery and content/taboo language
• How they affect the content of the magazine -Colour scheme, language use
• How the design and content of Metals Creed appeals to the
audience
-Colour use
-articles

THINGS TO CONSIDER As my magazine is being distributed with the northern echo my secondary audience will be people who read the northern echo which would be an older target audience.
Due to this I will make sure
-My front cover isn't offensive in any way
-I am careful with language use and only have minimal taboo language
-I have content that my secondary audience may be interested in also
MOCK UPS
Mock up process

Eye catching fonts and colours (bold red, black, white) that suit the target audience and go nicely together
Sub headings allow you to go straight to each point
Professional looking photography
Rock and survive in red and outlined with black to make them really stand out and so it’s the first thing you see
Eroded text to match the genre and look ‘metal like’

Big picture that's eye catching of the download logo to draw people into the article and so they link this page with a well known rock/metal festival
Humorous article that appeals to the target audience
NAME
METALS CREED • Makes is easy for the target audience to identify with the genre of magazine
• A creed is a system of faith/belief so it’s a clever name as though it’s a ‘Metal bible’
• The font I use is eroded like rock/metal which looks affective and makes the magazine more relatable to the target audience.
