Metal enclosed transformer substations Siemens type8FJ I produced by EGEMAC incorporate the follow-109:

- r"!edium voltage (12 KY) switchboard.- Medium/low voltage transformer manufactured by

ELMACO or others.- Low voltage (380Y) switchboard.- Connecting cables, bars, and accessories.

All in a compact, prefabricated, factory - assembled,solid construction.

The substation has the following advantages:- The 8FJ I substation is fully assembled in our fac-

tory, inclusive transformer, and can be transportedas one unit to the site.

- The substation does not need a concrete foundation.

Only in case of a very soft soil, a layer of plain weekconcrete is recommended.

- The substation has a low weight and can easily berepositioned.

- At site only the high and low voltage cables have tobe connected to the substation.

- Construction Features:

The sheet steel substation requires only a minimum ofmaintenance and can be easily handled. The housingis made of sheet steel sections (2.5 - 4 mm) with aweatherproof paint finish. The oil sump, which formsan integral part of the housing, is made of 4 mm sheetsteel and has an outer coating of tar and bitumen. Nooil pit is thus required.

The substation contains 3 independent sections:- Medium voltage compartment.- Transformer compartment.- Low voltage compartment.

The medium voltage and low voltage compartmentsare arranged at both ~nds of the transformer com-partment.

The medium voltage compartment is closed off by. a pressure resistant twowingdoor.The medium voltage switchboard contains loadbreak switches of Siemens type manufactured by

EGEMI.AC. It is riveted together using steel sec-tions with flolding edges, and its front affords fullprotection against contact with live parts.

The switchboard accomodates a maximum of threecable loadbreak switches and one lransformer load

break switch complete with fuses. A set of current andvoltage transformers for power transfer metering canbe installed instead of the third cable load breakswitch.

The transformer compartment includes an oilsump of the integrated type; no extra oil pit is re-quired. Transformers of any type with expressiontank in ratings of up to 500 KVA Elmaco type (or630 KVA imported) can be installed either at theworks or at the site.

The low voltage compartment has also a pressureresistant twowing door. The switchboard isdesigned to accomodate one circuit breaker up to1250 amp. and up to 10 triple pole tandem typefused load break sultenes with H.R.C. fuses.Ammeters, voltmeters, selector switches, KWh-meters, and protection equipment can be arrangedon a special mounting plate. Also a photocell andadequate switch goes for stree lighting can be in-stalled.
