Globalink — Logistic Partner of Winter Asian Games:The 7th Winter Asian Game’s flame was lit in Astana, Kazakhstan on the 30th January, 2011 — truly a remarkable event, bringing together sportsmen from all over Asia. This occasion was very significant for the people of Kazakhstan and Globalink was ever present with its logistics solutions to assist and manage this event with great success. For the Opening Ceremony of Asian Games Globalink was requested to participate in managing the transportation of various equipments, such as pyrotechnics and Olympic torch bowl from multiple locations worldwide to Astana,

Kazakhstan. There was no room for error due to strict time deadlines. Therefore, Globalink first consolidated the cargo at Amsterdam and Singapore hubs and then chartered a couple of 747 Freighters to Almaty. Upon arrival Globalink’s team of more than 50 people was already in place to transfer the cargo to Astana — the “capital” of Asian Winter Games. Getting the equipment transported back within 3 days after the Games was as critical as delivering it to the Olympic stadium. Within hours of the closing ceremony we collected and packed the cargo for the transportation back to its destinations worldwide. Unfavorable weather conditions as well as time pressure did not deter our spirit or diminish the quality of cargo transportation management. International media declared the Asian Winter Games a success for Kazakhstan and Globalink is proud to be a part of this success.

Bottle Cleaning Units From Italy to Georgia:Globalink again provided its exceptional services when it was contracted to handle the transportation of a Bottle Cleaning Unit from Italy to Georgia.

With the entire shipment being out of gauge, our Georgia Team ensured that all arrangements were made well in advance. Unloading cargo from vessel onto special low-bed trailers at Trieste Port, Italy was handled by cranes and supervised by Globalink’s Project Rep. With unloading, re-loading and lashing completed smoothly, the cargo then departed to the ferry station for the journey to Istanbul, Turkey. There the appropriate trailer had been already arranged and the cargo then departed for Georgia with an organized escort. The road journey progressed smoothly as all the needed permits were in place and the road survey ensured that the optimum routing was taken.

The winding roads and the arrival of winter could have really delayed matters, however Globalink’s attention to details resulted in a smooth ride all the way and a very happy customer at the end of it.

Pallet loadertransportationfrom Canada to Russia:Globalink received a request to handle transportation of pallet loaders, weighing more then 50 tons, from Sherbrook, Canada to Sheremetyevo Airport Moscow, Russia.

Globalink had to exhibit its expertise in the “one stop solution” services once again, because the delivery needed integration of multiple logistics services. Our team worked out the best solutions for oversized cargo shipment by developing routes and integrating vehicles, which shortened the period of project realization.

The cargo was delivered from Sherbrook, Canada to Baltimore Port on trucks and from thereon it was transported on a vessel to Hamina Port in Finland. While the cargo was at sea, Globalink prepared needed documents for unhampered road transportation on the territory of the Russian Federation. With all the required state permissions already obtained, the cargo was reloaded from the vessel on to positioned trucks in Hamina Port and then delivered to final destination before the deadline. Globalink demonstrated that short time frame is not an obstacle for quality job realization.

Heavy Equipment fromChina to Azerbaijan:As the leading project forwarder in the CIS, customers have come to rely on the superior, dependable, and quality transportation services that we provide.

Such was the case when heavy equipments for an oil & gas project were needed in Azerbaijan. Originating from China, the size and dimensions of the equipment ruled out rail freight, however having developed a “one stop solution” this transportation presented no problems for us. Utilizing in house resources, low-bed and regular trailers were mobilized for collection of the cargo from origin. With road permits obtained, viable route planned and convoy services organized in advance, the shipment departed swiftly. With our own offices on both sides of the Chinese border all formalities were smooth and the trucks proceeded with minimal stoppage time. With global positioning systems on our trucks and back up drivers in place, the shipment made excellent time and updates were available for the customer at all times. Once in Azerbaijan our staff completed customs clearance formalities and delivered the cargo to the job site within the promised time-frame. Hats off to all Globalink Teams involved.

Rigs from Oman to Azerbaijan:With oil exploration activities taking place in Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan, drilling rigs are either brought into the CIS or transported from one CIS country to another. Having made a niche for itself as one of the most reliable service providers to the Oil & Gas Industry, Globalink is the first one approached for such services. This was the case when a rig had to be moved from Oman to Azerbaijan. With a well established presence in the UAE, staff from our Dubai Office arranged trailers to collect the cargo from Oman onto the subsequent vessel going to the Black Sea Port of Poti, Georgia. Members from our Georgia Office were ready at Poti Port to supervise the unloading and subsequent reloading onto special low bed trailers. With several parts of the cargo being oversized, special permits were needed and arranged while the vessel was still at sea. Approaching the Azerbaijan border, our Baku Team was on hand to take over the handling. With customs clearance deftly handled, the rigs made their way to the job site without any issues. “Delivery done as scheduled and promised”. Once again we prove why we are the “heavy lift” champions.

Airport Equipment from France and USA to Kazakhstan:Globalink Logistics Group, renowned for its experience in the CIS was recently approached by the Civil Aviation Authorities in Kazakhstan to handle time critical movement of airport handling equipment from USA and France to Kazakhstan. The equipment was urgently required for the renovation and upgrade of airports in the Capital city of Astana and other regional cities. The timeframe to complete this delivery was extremely short as the Airport Aviation authorities had to meet their strict deadlines before the start of OSCE Annual General Meeting in Astana.

The cargo consisted of 20 de-icing trucks and 8 push-back vehicles. Given the over-sized nature of the cargo and time constraint, equipment from the USA was transported by a dedicated chartered AN-124 Air Freighter whereas over-sized equipments were transported by multi-axel low bed trailers over land from France to Kazakhstan. With the requirements clearly outlined by the customer, Globalink Projects and Air Freight Divisions simultaneously arranged air charters, low bed trailers and special handling equipment for the transportation, loading and unloading of the cargo. Last but not least, Globalink Customs Brokerage Division completed the entire process by promptly taking care of customs clearance formalities and ground handling of the cargo.

A brilliant exhibition of team work by all Globalink Divisions involved.

Air Freight

Helicopters from France to Kazakhstan: Globalink demonstrated yet again why it is the first choice forwarder for handling projects in the CIS.

Globalink was contracted to move a helicopter from France to Almaty, Kazakhstan with the stipulation to complete the move within 4 days. Globalink’s Road Transport (RTD) and Air Freight Divisions (AFD) have already developed services for such urgent situations. Our RTD Team immediately arranged for a dedicated roller-bed trailer to collect the helicopter from France and bring it to Amsterdam. Upon arrival at Schipol the shipment was smoothly loaded onto the waiting freighter arranged by our AF Department and with all the formalities completed speedily, the plane departed for Kazakhstan. The shipment was then received at Almaty Airport by our Customs Department staff who completed the custom formalities promptly and dispatched the shipment on a low bed trailer to the jobsite.

While meeting the deadline was never in doubt, as usual Globalink’s team work was responsible for completing the entire operation from start to finish in 72 hours flat! Truly a superb job!

Oil field Equipments from Dubai to Iraq:Due to extensive oil exploration in the Middle East, oil companies often apply to Globalink for logistics assistance. Oil extraction is technologically an intensive process, due to which oil companies regularly require urgent transportations of additional equipments to oil fields.

Competing with big regional and international players of the transport and logistics sector, Globalink Dubai won the tender for the transportation of oil field equipments from Sharjah, UAE, to Basra, Iraq.

Globalink’s task was to deliver the cargo, weighing approximately 1000 MT, at destination in a short time frame. With the usage of chore crane, the cargo was loaded onto a vessel at Sharjah Port and from there the vessel departed for Umm Qasr Port. After arrival at the port oil field equipments were transported to its final destination in Basra 10 days before deadline.

Quality of Globalink’s services demonstrates the professionalism of its team, and highlights the secret of company’s well established position in the market.

Machinery from China to Turkmenistan:Globalink Turkmenistan also made headlines for transportation of several pieces of oversized cargo from China to Turkmenistan.

Needed for an ongoing project in Yoloten, Turkmenistan, the machinery was required to be in place at the earliest. With years of expertise in handing time sensitive projects, our Turkmenistan Office rose to the occasion.

From organizing required cranes for loading cargo to low bed trailers for transportation from China, all was done quickly. With our China office supervising the process, all export formalities were completed and the trailers departed on time. Through daily communication with the drivers updates were collected until the cargo reached Turkmenistan where our local team was in place to complete the customs clearance procedures. With the same taken care in a short time period, the shipment was delivered at the job site with a few days to spare. Truly a tremendous and well planned operation.

Spotlight

Dyna Towers from Srilanka to Afghanistan:Globalink is one of the premier logistics companies handling Afghan transit trade through Pakistan. Globalink Karachi recently undertook the responsibility of delivering 5 Dyna towers, via road transport from Karachi to Kabul, Afghanistan.

Having handled such transportation regularly, Globalink got to work immediately and made all the necessary arrangements prior to the arrival of cargo. The cargo was initially transported from Srilanka to Karachi Pakistan through Sea freight. Due to the oversize cargo dimensions they were carried on flat rack containers and transportation was done cautiously to avoid any damage to the Dyna towers. Owing to the extensive experience in oversize cargo transportation, they reached Kabul safely and the project was completed easily by Globalink Karachi team.

Special IL-76 Charter to Karachi:Globalink Logistics Group is renowned for providing superior, reliable and professional transportation services whatever the type of cargo. Globalink Islamabad was contracted to charter three IL-76, containing flood relief goods, from China to Karachi Airport and further distribution to various locations in Pakistan.

Having arrived at Karachi Airport, our Road Transport and Customs Clearance Divisions had already made required arrangements in advance to fasten the procedure. All the customs clearance formalities were completed within 12 hours, which is a record time. The cargo was then loaded onto trucks and delivered to relief camps in various provinces for onward distribution to flood victims.

Transportation of Construction Materials from Turkey to Pakistan:Globalink Islamabad handled customs clearance and delivery of construction materials from Turkey to Islamabad Dry Port, Pakistan.

The transportation of 188 trucks loaded onto 40’ft trailers started in Turkey and as a first stop reached the Pakistan border. The border clearance process was the most important challenge there, as existing conditions limited the time frames of transportation. Globalink Customs Clearance Division prepared all documentation requirements accurately in advance for immediate clearance and completed the process without delay.

Having passed through border clearance Globalink then arranged Customs Security Escort up to Islamabad Dry Port and carried out the custom clearance of the cargo at destination.

We delivered as promised as Globalink strives to provide better quality services to its customers.

Road Freight

Out of Gauge Cargo from Canada to Uzbekistan:Globalink made headlines when they successfully completed the transportation for out of gauge cargo to Nukus, Uzbekistan.

Having arrived from Canada to Aktau, Kazakhstan, the shipment weighing approximately 368 tons required urgent delivery. Due to prior experience of handling out of gauge cargo and local know-how of the region, our Aktau Team proceeded with the arrangement of road permits, escort services and special low bed trailers, for both Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. The challenging route could have presented a problem but our road surveys arranged in advance helped the shipments make their way to final destination smoothly. In coordination with our Aktau Office the staff from Uzbekistan was on hand to complete local customs clearance and delivery. Once again, though with no surprise, a satisfied and content customer.

Towering Transport for Kazakhstan:Globaink Logistics Group rose to the occasion yet again when it was called upon to transport a pair of debutanizer towers needed for an ongoing oil project in Kazakhstan.

Our capable Road Transport Division (RTD) showed why they not only won recognition from the IRU (International Road Transport Union) in the past, but still continues to do so. Arrangements were promptly made for positioning the required low bed trailers for the 2 towers. At 14 tonnes each, these were not the heaviest pieces we have handled, but with a length of 26 meters, it was certainly out of the ordinary. Additionally, the towers were accompanied

by various oversized pieces which were transported using other regular trucks.

Road survey was prepared in advance and with all needed road permits in place, the cargo set out for its destination. With the local authority’s cooperation and an escort in place the journey was slow but steady. Upon arrival at destination, staff from our Shymkent Office completed customs formalities and took care of the unloading and delivery at site. With the towers delivered as scheduled, our efforts resulted in a towering success.

Removals & Relocation — Event Logistics

Corporate Responsibility:Globalink Logistics Group, in addition to being the leading transportation and logistics management company in the region, is second to none when it comes to honoring its corporate responsibility.

Recognizing the positive impact that our business can have on the community life and well being, Globalink was honored to play its part in the recent charity drive for the SOS Children’s Village in Almaty, Kazakhstan. With the recipients including children and single mothers, the aim of the drive was to provide them with toys, clothes and other necessary day to day essentials.

"Stepping up and participating in worthy causes such as this is not only our corporate

responsibility but our duty as human beings,” says Mr. Siddique Khan, President and CEO of Globalink Logistics Group. This sentiment was shared by our staff from Almaty and other Globalink locations as they were quick to rise to the occasion and donated generously.

Social Responsibility Project: Flood Relief Goods TransportationWhen it comes to the support of natural disaster victims, it is impossible to remain indifferent and not be involved.

Globalink fulfilled its corporate social responsibility through volunteered transportation of hundreds of tons of relief goods for flood affected victims to various remote locations in Pakistan. Realizing the vital need of basic food and clothes for flood

suffered people, Globalink’s team urgently packed and loaded collected items onto trailers and distributed them to the worst affected areas. The main target was timely humanitarian support for the affected people; therefore time was of the essence.

Having received people’s gratitude, which is priceless, Globalink once again recognized the importance of social responsibility.

On hand to deliver the donations, Globalink Representatives were able to witness the benefits and joy surrounding this event. Truly an immeasurable feeling.

Globalink Secures Prestigious Award:

Globalink Logistics Group achieved recognition once again when its CEO Mr. Siddique Khan was awarded the "Entrepreneurship Award" of the year by the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) in Kazakhstan.

The award, given after the nominees go through a meticulous voting process, is one of the most prestigious and highly rated awards. Presented to Mr. Khan during the annual black-tie AmCham Awards dinner and with over 200 members and attendees, nominations were spread over a dozen different categories with several hopefuls for each category.

Founded by Mr. Siddique Khan in 1994, Globalink has become one of the fastest growing and most respected companies in the region in just 16 years. With 75% of our customers coming from Fortune 500 companies, Globalink’s experience, professionalism, service portfolio and commitment to quality has led it to become the powerhouse that it is today. All in all, an award well deserved.

Known for its attention to detail and reliable services, Globalink rose to the occasion when it effectively handled the arrangements for Andrea Bochelli’s concert in Astana. The concert guest list featured Presidents of the CIS states, high ranking officials and other celebrities, therefore there was no room for error.

With the concert related equipment totaling 17 tonnes and coming from 3 separate countries, our Astana Team certainly had their work cut out for them. However, with years of experience under their belts, our staff not only welcomed the challenges but also ensured they were dealt with smoothly.

From organizing shipment pick ups to arranging dedicated airfreight and ensuring that government holidays (Capital Day in Astana, holidays in Ukraine) did not disrupt continuity, Globalink successfully negotiated every hurdle. That was not an easy task as for the shipment from Odessa we had only 4 days from pickup to delivery/set up in Astana. In order to meet this extremely short timeframe, Globalink organized the entire shipment in such a way that the arrival of equipment and customs clearance could be completed prior to the Customs Authority closing for the holidays. From arranging trucking to Kiev Airport, the flight to Luxembourg for the connection to Almaty, immediate customs clearance in Almaty and on forwarding by truck to Astana, Globalink controlled each and every aspect to ensure there were no delays. With ongoing preparations for Capital Day,

Globalink even arranged for the delivery to take place late in the evening. With our in house packing crew working well into the night, all arrangements were completed on time as promised. The concert, obviously, was a success and the following day our team was back to pack up all the equipment and deliver it back to the airport for its departure for the next concert. All in all, a superb job by Globalink Staff involved.
