Often it is expressed in the negative: "Don't do to others what you don't want them to do to you." Jesus turns it around. It's not just about avoiding unpleasant behavior but taking positive action towards others. Jesus wants us to imagine how our behavior feels to other people. If we were on the receiving end of our words or actions, how would it feel to us? Think of the ways we can apply Jesus' teaching in everyday life. We have many interactions with other people every day, our family members, neighbors, coworkers, store clerks, and many others. St. Luke's Church has adopted MichaelGosselin's Unit. Many of you wouldremember Michael from his attending St.Luke's Church for many years. He is nowpart of the 4th Brigades (Raiders), 2ndInfantry Division, Bravo Company, that iscurrently serving in Iraq. They are deployedthere for one year, out of Seattle, WA. Theyare currently in the small town of Nassir WaSalam in the outskirts of Baghdad. It's a verypoor, rundown, desolate area. They arethere to help support the Iraqi Army. They doone to three dangerous missions a day andwe pray that they return to their base safely.Through your generosity we have mailed 6boxes of items to them. They should get

them in time for Christmas. Michael willshare these boxes with the men in his unit. These boxes will make their Christmas alittle brighter. A touch of home is alwayswelcomed. They will certainly enjoy all of thesnacks, powdered drinks, notebooks, puzzlebooks, pens and pencils, and mostly thetoilet paper and baby wipes that we've sentthem. They do without so many of thecomforts that we take for granted, they willcertainly put all of the things to good use. We are going to keep collecting items forsome more mailings. We would like to sendthem some every once in awhile. We willalso be sending some care packages toPeter Thibault. Peter is the son of Lorraine

Thibault, a newmember of thecongregation. He isalso Michael'suncle. He isstationed with hisunit in Afgahnistan. So keep up thegood work andkeep bringing inthose donations. Ifyou don't know what to buy, you can give amoney donation and supplies will be boughtto add to the boxes. If you need any moreinformation, please see Muriel Baptista,Michael's grandmother. Once again, thankyou for your generosity.
